The best place to set up a base porter redside?

Due to my incredibly erratic playing hours, all my characters are in personal alt SGs, and heroside I'm setting up teleporters to the more hard-to-reach zones, which have come in handy. Out of habit, I've done the same thing villainside- but given the fewer, more accessible zones, I'm having trouble deciding what beacons to use. I have to get some beacons first too.

Which zone would be the most handy to have a beacon to? If you've got blueside ideas, post them too, I'd like to know where my next blueside porter should go.

Port Oakes is, IMO, the most annoying zone to reach once you out-level it... plus it is required travel to pay for your Upkeep. Aside from that, Cap is a smorgasbord of all that ya need. Honestly, if you have those two, there really aren't too many places you can't get to easily with you base, Ouro and the Ferry.

Ohhhhh, if you can manage to get it, the RWZ Beacon would be useful as well.

Port Oakes I figured, though the irony might be in that the porter won't be working when I need it the most. And there's plenty of ways to get to Cap already... so just another thing to get while raiding.

Time to go orienteering!

I put every porter in redside. Honestly, there's only like 8, so it wasn't that big of a deal to put all of them in with our small SG. I started with Mercy, Port Oakes, Cap, and Sharkhead.

Grandville, so you can buy all your new characters the jetpack as early as level 1. Of course, you need a way back too...

If you can fly, it's easy to get safely from the jetpack vendor to the Grandville base portal.

And if you've been to the jetpack vendor, it's a fair bet that you can fly.

Failing that, it's a safe walk to Cap, where you can buy a Black Market teleporter from the BM, and use that to go straight back to Mercy.

Really, it is personal opinion, but I would have to say Cap, it is the only zone redside that has acess to EVERY zone (PvP excluded)

Mercy through the black heli line, port through the port ferry, and every where else through the rogue isles ferry.

Also it was said, even the smallest telly room can hold 4 locations, so you really shouldn't have to much trouble. Make one to mercy, port, GV and Riktiwarzone.

Mercy and port because they are the most bothersome zones to get to, GV because it drops you off RIGHT BY THE FERRY so you can get to most zones not in your base quickly and without much hassle from there. Rikti warzone because it is the one zone that is sorta a bother to get to from GV (or at least more so than others)

If you're limited on how many porters you can have, I wouldn't bother with a porter to the RWZ. The base portal in Cap is like 100 yards from the entrance to the Vanguard base; and the BM is even closer if you have a BM teleporter. I can't recall where the Oro portal spits you out in Cap - in the upper city I think - but even that is a short, and safe, trip to the Vanguard base if you're level 35.

Note, the smallest telly room only has ONE location. I decided to pick Port Oakes since all but one of my alts have a travel power, and the other one's already been to GV.

We sprang for the slightly bigger room to allow two locations. We opted for Mercy and Cap because everyone in the group has the Good vs Evil Pocket D teleport power.

Back when we only had 1 location we put in Cap because it goes to so many places. But then, it really isn't a big deal to switch out beacons in a personal SG so you actually have access, with a bit of work, to go anywhere you have a beacon badge for.

Cap accesses every one of the main seven zone plus Bloody Bay, Midnighter/Cimerora, and the Rikti War Zone. Plus it's the zone where the Beacon drop off point is closest to the Rogue Island Ferrry (the beacon for GV is by the main tower, not the Ferry; the Ozone beacon is by the Ferry).

If you can have only one, Cap is the most logical choice.

If you can have only two beacons, then make number two the Pocket D for the sake of buying inspirations. Plus, it connects to PO, Sharks, and Martial. But, I recommend buying the GvE edition so that you have the Pocket D TPer, which means you wouldn't have to have a Pocket D beacon.

So, if you have the Pocket D teleporter, then make the second beacon Mercy until you hit level 40, then switch it to Grandville.

If you have a second Telepad, then your four beacons should be: Mercy, PO, Cap, and Grandville. Or, you can switch the PO one to the zone you're currently doing missions in if it's Sharks or St. Martial. Pocket D can take you to PO. Since Ozone goes to the top five out of seven zones, once you hit level 25, you'd only really need Base beacons in the bottom two zones.

Heroside, the beacons I find myself using the most often are Eden for the Hami Raids; and the hazard zones because of their inaccessibility and because the TFs send you there (Perez, Dark Astoria, Crey's Folly, and Boomtown).

Getting back is not hard.
No Mobs between vender and ferry. Go To Cap, short run from ferry to Base Porter, or swim the scenic tour to PO ferry.

Pocket D is a Nice porter to have incase you don't have GvE edition.

The PO Porter drops you off outside the building for Base Upkeep/Day Job Badge.

The Nerva Transporter drops you off by the Halloween Salvage person.

Why not get them all?

You said it was a solo group, give all you alts editing rites grab all the TP beacons, and then just swap what beacon you need.

Works great. My brother and I have a duo group. 1 TP'er, with all the beacons. We just pop in whic ever one we need when we use it.

Got a Pocket D VIP Teleporter? If you do then Port Oakes is not a problem.

On redside if I am going for a single porter I would go for the far ends. A beacon to Mercy and a beacon to Grandville is the way I usually go. If I ever have to go anywhere else I can always edit the base real quick-like and change the beacons.

I dunno why, but I always seem to forget that the D takes one to PO. I guess I just am not as familiar with the red zones yet as I am on blue.

Thing is, I don't have any other beacons for some reason.

Eventually, I might save up my Prestige and expand to the two-porter room. It's not like there's really much else worthwhile to do with a base, especially on villainside. For such a detailed and major part of the game, you really think they'd finally get the revamp they desperately need.

Well, might build a Mission Computer as well.

Just go out and pick them up, then! None are very difficult to obtain, except perhaps the RWZ one. It doesn't cost any prestige to create them, and as someone mentioned previously, if you have a one-person base you can just go into edit mode and to buy and sell them as needed once you've earned the beacons.

It's not as convenient as having TPs to all the zones, but it's a good compromise while your're saving prestige to add another room or base item.
