Scrub Leaches

Scrub1: zomg, thank you so much letting me leach off you. Would you power leveling from 27-35?

Brute1: No.

Scrub1: I'll pay you ... How much would you charge me?

Brute2: (Don't power level him for less than 50 million!)

Brute1: 27-35 will take 5 runs at 8 minutes each. You'll earn approximately 20 million off tickets and kills.

Scrub1: um, okay ...

Brute1: Since I'm running with a fellow brute, I think you should pay us both 20 million for our labor.

Scrub1: THAT's outrageous! forget it!

My question: When scrubs ask to pay me for sitting in my missions, should I take the heroic approach and say "Go away, scrub!" OR do I take the villainous approach and try to price gouge him?

If you don't like it at all, #1. If the increase doesn't bother you, go ahead for #2.

Heroic approach every time. It accomplishes two things: 1) it lets them know that what they're asking for is not acceptable, and 2) if the devs ever decide to enforce no power-leveling as they've enforced no farming, you won't be caught in the cross-fire.

Take the high road, man. Just say no.

Nonono.

The truly villainous approach would be to use him to paint the map, then TP foe him high into the air right above a large spawn, so that he takes falling damage and then gets crushed by the enemies. THEN you kick him.

? you mean like the meow farms? That wasn't them coming down on farming, that was them coming down on exploiting.

Well, when I was getting tired of "fill" and "join farm" on my 'shade in the 40s, I put up a price list instead - "Will mentor in farm for...." and some ridiculous list of procs/uniques. (Don't recall if this was pre- or post-purples, but stuff like the Miracle AND Numina uniques, etc.)

If someone'd actually been willing to pay it, yeah, I'd have sat in. It'd be worth my time then. Nobody did

"enforced no farming"? What planet are you posting from? Unless, of course, we're specifically referring to AE, but I didn't see any mention of that in the OP.

I did something similar back in ye olden days. You know, back before the market, when Hammis were king. I think my asking price, per run, was a Golgi and a Ribo, both extremely sought after expensive Hammis. I got lots of outraged tells about how I should be paying *them* for the privilege of bridging, but no actual takers.

If your lvl 20+, get off ur lazy a$$ and help fight. Stamina is there for a reason. Leechers that PL is whats ruining this game, not the farmers. At least farmers learn how to use thier skills.

Or you could take the "I'm sick of incompetent freshly-minted L50's messing up my PuG's" approach.

Blue-Side Leech: PL Meh?
Quizmaster: Sure. Just answer two out of three of the following question's correctly...
Leech: Wut?
Q: Who did Manticore marry?
Q: Where are the Lost in KR?
Q: Which Zone features Serafina, Manticore, Swan and the entrance to Crey's Folley?

How about this?

Brute1 = "27-35 will take 5 runs at 8 minutes each. You'll earn approximately 20 million off tickets and kills. Let's just say you pay me 20 million up front and we'll be square."

Then run him through 1 mission and say "okay pay me for the next run."

He'll scream and cry about 20 million was supposed to be for 5 runs and I'll say no, that was Per Run. Blah blah blah, long story short, 1 run for 20 million and one unhappy leach. ;-)

I like the charge such an outrageous fee they won't want to pay it but if they do then it was worth your time. Kind of like your story.

It'd be Recall Friend if you're going to drop them into a spawn, and I generally just assume everyone has a prompt on. I'm also not going to pick up Team Teleport (which bypasses the prompt) solely for that.

And while you could TP Foe mobs to his location (if they're close enough) it'd only be one at a time, of relatively low rank, and they'd be able to run off before they died.

So yeah, just paint the map, and boot 'em. Taking the inf may get some sort of CS action against you if they petition and the GM is feeling charitable - it happened with someone that took the inf and ran on a trade for a lotg +rech a few months ago while there was still the trade bug that kept saying inventory full even though it wasn't; there was a thread about it.

[/ QUOTE ]Exploiting a bug to steal inf is entirely different from stealing inf through social engineering. No GM is going to take action on you for accepting an inf trade.

I said "if the GM is feeling charitable"; it is a similar situation (chat discussion logged for a trade/barter agreed to where one side pays and is not provided recompense) if they decide to look at it from that perspective. If they're not feeling charitable they'll treat it how the do inf transfers where the person just pockets it and runs off while you're switching, say "don't give inf to people you don't know/trust", and close the ticket.

Personally I'd bet on the latter, but it's just not worth the hassle on the off chance that the GM decides to be nice.

Wouldnt this be like calling the cops to report that someone came into your backyard and stole all the marijuana plants? The Devs should not even care bc it shouldnt be happening.
