Windows Vista Verision of City of Heros/Villans?
CoH works fine with Vista.
I am running CoH on Vista with no problems, other than the mouse pointer problem, but that was an easy fix. My wife runs on Vista as well with no trouble.
have you tried setting it to run in Windows XP compatible mode?
No it does not.

Vista works fine with the game here. Most XP games work fine on it.
I have a small graphics corruption issue but that's because I run the game on a fairly old laptop and the drivers are not the greatest. Game's still playable, though, without compatibility mode.
Been playing CoH on vista for a year now. It does work with Vista.
Vista isn't officially supported still...but the game works fine on it.
Squirrley, how do you run it in XP Compatibile?
(sorry, I aint a computer geek)
Anyhow,
If you say so.
I will continiue to try and find my problem:
Why wont the stupid thing let me play...Ill make a thread on that too.
But as long as this is resolved,
REQUESTED TO BE LOCKED ONCE I FIND OUT HOW TO DO XP COMPATIBLE. (lol)
Go up into the Tech and Bugs forums and read through the stickied thread on Vista issues.
Most of the "fixes" are pretty easy and so long as you follow the directions you should be up and running in no time.
I had a few issues when I first switched over to Vista, but I've been playing for months now with no problems.

I've been running this game for close to 18 months on Vista machines without any serious problem at all. You've got to realize those "system requirements" were written 5 years ago before Vista existed. But just because it didn't exist at the time does not prove that it wouldn't work regardless.
I've never had to deal with trying "XP compatibility mode" with it. Even the few old Vista related problems people have mentioned so far (like the mouse problem) have been fixed for a long time now.
You might be having some kind of outdated video driver problem perhaps, but your problem isn't Vista itself. Good luck.

this
I've been running the game on Vista since Vista released, and have only had minor issues(all of which have been solved for quite a while now)
Compatibility mode for Windows XP is pretty simple. just right click your shortcut, select properties and on the compatibility tab check "run this program in compatibility mode for:' and from the drop down menu below it select Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
also check "disable desktop composition" on that same tab. Vista's GUI can cause a few problems

It's not on the CoX System Requirements because they don't officially support CoX on Vista.

Currently, only Guild Wars and Lineage II are officially supported to play on Windows Vista. However, many of our products play on Windows Vista without issue.

As others have pointed out, the game runs just fine on Vista (for most people).

It doesn't say that it doesn't work on Vista. Sounds like you're looking at a box from before Vista was released, of COURSE Vista isn't listed on it. But plenty of people are playing just fine on Vista, myself included.

[/ QUOTE ]It doesn't list Vista on the AE box (newest release) either. Vista is not officially supported. That doesn't mean Vista doesn't work, it just means that GMs will generally tell you to post your tech issues in the tech issues part of this forum instead of working with you. (They will do some basic stuff though.)

Another Vista user here with no problems except that weird mouse jumping thing occasionally.
(QR) While Vista isn't officially supported, the devs have made some tweaks in the past specifically for Vista users... they've done some work with cursors and such, f'instance. There's things that used to be problems, but now aren't.
But yeah - really, if you're having issues with running CoH on Vista, check out the tech forums. I've been playing CoH on a Vista machine for about a year now. I sorted out all my problems in a couple hours, just by browsing the tech section of the boards. Quick and easy.
To be entirely fair, however...I do know a couple of folks who've never been able to get CoH working right in Vista. So I'll echo what another poster here said - CoH runs fine in Vista for most people. But there are exceptions. Good luck.

I've found Vista works best if you don't install it.

Vista works fine for me, then again, I am now running Windows 7.
As others stated, it's just not officially supported (Though it should be by now at least for Vista that is. Win 7 is beta and obviously shouldn't be :P)

OK, so I used to play City Of Heros on my windows XP, me and my bro shared a account, it was fun, then we quit.
2 years later, im right here, typing this exact message, banging my head against a wall. Why? Its something that cuts out people from playing City Of Heros.
Windows Vista isnt allowed.
Most of you players might be, So what? But this takes out a load of players.
So I was wondering if the City of Heros team will ever make a Windows Vista version of the game. Because we dont want to be left out anymore. This game seems awesome all over again.
Discuss your opinions about this.
Admins, I request that you eventually make one, as me and my freinds wanna start playing again.
Sincerely,
Mjamonkey
