Vehicle Travel Pool Set or Invention perhaps
[ QUOTE ]
I have to agree that most vehicles would be rediculous to see in this game. Motorcycles would be cool to see at least if WoW has them.
I think some other options would be more logical and feasable. Flying platform emotes, think of the Green Goblin, something you stand on opposed to get into would be much easier to animate. These would be able to strafe sideways, move over any terrain etc. Flying platforms could include high tech rocket platforms like Gobie's, you could also include a hovering UFO type platform, a mystical flying carpet, an elemental cloud, etc. It would also be very cool to see an emote for sitting on a broomstick for halloween.
Even though this would be much easier to do, and still very cool, I still do not see them being introduced to the game anytime soon unfortunately.
[/ QUOTE ]
That would be pretty awesome. Would love to have a magic toon have a broom. But sometimes no matter how much we want something we may never get it. Doesn't stop us from wanting it. The dev's are doing a great job and I love this game. Best game ever in my opinion. And though wow has motorcycles I wouldn't trade anything to get motorcycles or any vehicle if all the wow drama came with it (I married a wow widow, didn't know such a thing existed before).

maybe not a big hami vehicle as maybe an army/gang of vehicles that synergize together. or maybe something like Voltron (which was totally stolen by Power Rangers) or transformers, but more city of heroes/villains theme
[/ QUOTE ]
You're actually quite wrong in saying Power Rangers stole Voltron's combining mecha.
Beast King GoLion, which is what we called Voltron, was first aired in Japan in March of 1981.
Battle Fever J, the very first Super Sentai series to have combining mecha was created in February 1979, several years before Voltron was made.
Granted, I'm talking about the first Super Sentai series, while the first Sentai series in Japan, Himitsu Sentai Goranger, was made in 1975, but that series lacked huge robots combining together, which is what the "Super" in "Super Sentai" stands for, and Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger is what we made into the first season of Power Rangers was created in 1992.

Ok I'm kinda confused as I haven't read the whole thread but instead of worrying about power animations why not make it where you use it and you get hit you get knocked off the mode of transportation, either it falls over (more complicated version) or simply dissappears.
Have the mode of transportation a self contained entity when your in it you can't use powers or emotes and such. Make it on par with super speed where theres only horizontal movement or just forway movement as I see it most of the streets are horizontal regardless.
Hence it would be almost identical to super speed perhaps add some powers to have some kind of defense. Possibly using a exhaust trail power for motorcycles/cars that would add a disorient, or confuse and stealth bonus to the player. You can give jets/planes/etc a gale like power that knocks enemies back if wanted.
There is other creative powers you can give it but basically as superspeed is considered kind of a broken travel power leave this one the same way. Like super speed it has limitations in the real world its ok to reflect that in game.
Storyline wise there is no reason for a natural hero/villain to have a travel power currently but if we didn't we'd never get teams. So I don't see the problem with making planes/jets a variant of fly and cars/motorcycles a variant of superspeed. Each would come with different powers and would be programmed akin to their currently used variants.

1.) Try reading the entire thread and maybe you won't be confused.
2.) Superspeed isn't broken. The real problem is that some players aren't able to adapt to the subtle nuances that make Superspeed effective. Like paying attention to where you are going, or taking the time to explore a zone so you know your way around it.

But it wouldn't make sense for your car to run through water. It also would not make sense for your car to go sideways (strafing).
As for natural characters having travel powers, whats wrong with using the rocket boots or tech wings? I don't see any difference between fly with rocket boots or using the temp jet/jump pack.

the car doesn't need to go through water to work it just needs to work on land. Also in most concepts for human natural heros theres no way to implement a condition upon you can use speedspeed, sj or teleport. Using temp powers is just using tech devices which is fine for some but doesn't really make sense in most concepts. If natural player was using tech equipment and thats part of their concept then fine but most likely that would make them tech origin. So hence if your character is a natural hero theres no real storyline reason to have a travel power. Using boots would technically make atleast some of your powers tech origin.

I added storyline wise as if your character existed in the coh universe. There is no reason for her to have teleport naturally storyline wise if you chose to as a player thats your call but I'm saying if a natural human hero just teleported for no reason it would be a loophole for storyline reasons.

Uhm . . . because using rocket boots, tech wings, and temp jet/jump packs aren't natural. Those are tech/science devices.
Natural means (to me) that the travel power is something everyone in your species has. It isn't a mutation that only a few sentients have. It isn't something that was built in a lab or a factory. It isn't bestowed upon you from a spell or arcane item of power.
Supermans Travel powers are Natural
Batmans are Science/Tech
Nightcrawlers are Mutation
Dr. Stranges are Magical.

I said considered in other words people look at superspeed as broken due to its difficulty in certain terrains. It reflects what it should be game wise I'm saying thats why I think too many people are focused on hey well motorcycles can't work in water. Ok it really doesn't have to its an alternative that especially for natural heroes works storyline wise.
For instance if my character is katana/willpower natural human hero it makes no sense for him to take rocket boots, or fly with tech wings if he used alot of technology for his powers that makes him tech origin. If he uses a artifact to teleport that would make atleast part of his powers magic origin. So Personally if I play natural heroes/villains then it makes no sense to chose a travel power and considering what that would leave me behind in it makes no sense to pursue.
I just think the idea of implementation is just a little over complicated. You don't need to make animations for every power because you don't need to make it where heroes can fight on their mode of transportation. If we have automotive as a power then we don't need it to work on water. It dissapears when we hit water making us believe the mode of transportation sank. If we get hit on it we get knocked off and it dissappears (or if you want to make it more complicated it stays there for us to get back on).
I'm just dropping it I really don't have time to keep going through alot of different threads for little tidbits of information. I understand theres an engine problem which is fine but I had it referred to as far as having more then one person in a mode of transportation. I've read that there would be alot of different animations needed but in this version you would just need 4 to 5 maybe close to 10 if you needed to address certain issues. So Besides those two issues I don't have the time to read through alot of different threads to find little tidbits. I'll just say I see how validly useful these forms of transportation can be if they are not seen as worth it or important thats fine but I do think it can add to the game experience.
Heh, yes. I skipped number 4 from the cut and paste response. It's about customization and I figured he'd gone on long enough about that.
