I would have to say obviouly not.

With all due respect, this is an inherently ridiculous question. The devs are part of a BUSINESS. Clearly, someone (in charge) feels that changes which alienate X number of players now will result in a larger number of players down the road.
So, to be perfectly honest, they don't care what a vocal minority think. Their focus is the long-term success of the game. They MAY or MAY NOT be making an error in some of their recent decisions. Time will tell.

All true. The OP has good points with the lesser of them being #3. This game will lose some people to CO, more than they would have as a result of dev actions. What the devs need to worry about is losing players to other games than CO. There are plenty to play out there. I have a lifetime subscription to LOTRO. I don't even need to buy a new game, I subscribed, upgraded and bought a lifetime account when I13 was in beta. Actually, I bought two, I got one for my husband too. He plays that now. $500 well spent. It even just had a major update very recently, I need to go play that and get some festival time in too.

Well that's because you are missing the point... it's not so much the badges beging taken out as it is the way it's being done without exploring other options, and maybe people are quitting becuase they are sick of this BS! It's not only the badge thing it's other things as well... things that were told would never happen again have. The whole idea is to think before you do something and listen to the people that test this stuff before it comes out... that way you can avoid this !@#$ from happening as much as possible if at all...
Then again it's always hard to do that when money is involved
and letting some of the !@#$ get by did make them more money so there you have it... you want to laugh at something laugh at that becuase it is funny in a sad sort of way

I don't think the badge thing is the entire reason, but rather the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. I'll admit to considering it myself when I read about the badge changes, simply because it's yet another example of this game moving in a direction I don't like and don't care for. The only thing that is keeping me here right now is that I renew yearly and have already paid. If my yearly renewal were now instead of January, I would be having some serious second thoughts.

Yes customer relations is a tricky business but it helps if you have people who have an idea what that is... this whole it's our way or the highway mentally is going to lose them business and the thing is it doesn't have to be that way there is a common ground and this is not it... and for the record they didn't smack meow farmers they hit level pact people which they admited was a mistake and reinstated the toons deleted and gave the people in question 30 days of free service, but the whole point is they acted before even knew what the deal was... that is BAD customer relations there are always better ways to do things and it seems that they have no interest in exploring them... and to be honest I could care less if there job is easy, hard or whatever.. the bottom line is we pay for a service and it's not too much to ask that they do their job better... or even act like they give a !@#$... wait they are acting like they give a !@#$ only it's really bad acting...

I'll say it again...
I quit every month. So do you. So does everyone. (month, or whatever billing cycle.)
The question is if there is enough content and interest to get you to renew.
If there are fewer badges enticing someone to renew, I don't see quitting as overreacting.
The confusion is people who are too used to auto-renew and do not take a critical stance of where their money is going. This is why some people still have land line phones.
Another thing that might be getting overlooked: These are DEVS.
game developers, engineers, technicians, in short, very poor people skills if any skills at all. They know tech. they know number crunching, they dont "do" dealing with people very well, because its not in the hard wiring. they dont really have a PR dept -as far as I know- All they really have is a few Devs appointed to post updates, give replys, and maybe beat me with a ban stick every now and then <eyes OCHO>.
If they did have an entire PR dept we probably would have avoided alot of messy situations as of late.

posirant: did someone at least TRY to tell him "hey, wait a sec, cool down, thats not a good move"
If someone would have stopped him from turning a rant, letting it stew, then throw a "I can't wait to get my hands on that fruit baskit" while his paying customers are having a meltdown <that WAS a slap in the face btw>
A-lot if not all of the grief could and should have been avoided.
Those actions timed with the release of the exploits to live and the removal of all the badges puts all credibility the dev team has in peril.
the badge removal is just insult to injury. I'm still in AE earning temporary badges. Its like "badge earned until next issue"
what can I as a paying customer do to help this situation?

I would have to say obviouly not. they seem to be more concerned with people understanding that THEY are in charge and it's THEIR game not ours, and we must play it the way they see fit and while they try and justify their actions I really believe they think this will blow over and people will accept it like they have in the past... I am sure Jack is loving this, Matt is making his job so much easier... I have no problem with the devs making mistakes WE all do but when you make a bigger mistake to fix one you have already made that is just plain stupid... alot of people have played this game for 5 years, why would anyone want to mess with that and upset some of these people? Hmm how many subcriptions have to be lost before someone says "wait, maybe there is a better way to handle this." and please spear me this "we sometimes have to make hard choices for the big picture BS. I have to admit I wasn't thinking of champions online at all I was pretty much happy with coh yeah it have it's ups and downs like any game but for the most part it's been solid but this last month... I have checked it out and it doesn't look bad it's has some cool things and I hate the fact I'm being forced to check it out because the people running this game think... well maybe think is the wrong word... the people running this game feel they are the only game in town... it's like positron is trying to save a kitten in a tree and takes out 4 city blocks because he used a nuke instead of using a ladder
I guess the bottom line is if they don't care why should we...
