Nerdy girls are kind of sexy. What can I say? It's a weakness.

Only "kind of" sexy? How do you find anyone attractive if they're incapable of actually challenging you mentally? That's one of the reasons why I've only dated nerdy girls. No other girls can keep up.

There's plenty of qualifiers that go into the term sexy, of which intellectual prowess is but a small part. Because while I may find the mind of another enticing, there does exist the rest of the package that may prevent it from being more then a simple crush, or a hearty friendship.

Three out of five senses (Sight, Smell, Sound) need to be appeased in order to ensure that maximum comfort is retained while being in extended presence with said person. Not in any particular order, but they do need to at least be in 'Tolerable' range before any further relationship can hope to develop, at least insofar as romance goes. I can put up with a lot when it comes to just being friends, but if my heart is to be wooed, a C-grade is required in the three S's, though for obvious reasons a higher grade is always good.

Then there's personality - how much of the target's personality clashes with my own, and what sort of quirks that don't exactly clash but can be considered undesirable traits do they possess? How high maintenance is it to keep them generally happy and healthy? Are they at least capable of being independent beings, or are they completely co-dependent on someone else for a relationship? There's at least 10 categories here that need to have at least a B or higher in order to net my long-term affection, including 'intellectual capacity and potential'. And a few others that need at least a C.

S'why I just asked for coffee.

Maybe she's in Nome...

[/ QUOTE ]

Hawaii, if I remember correctly. Honolulu, to be specific.

[/ QUOTE ]
Well, there is the answer. She must be hot if she's in Hawaii, humid too.

[/ QUOTE ]

Technically, SHE wouldn't be humid, just experiencing humidity.

Are you sure? Haven't you heard someone referred to as "steamy"?

[/ QUOTE ]

More complicated still, in that "sexy" does not equate to "appealing" in all, or even most contexts. Being the man of low moral fibre that I am, I am perfectly capable of finding women I despise completely sexy, but that doesn't make me actually like them in the slightest. On the flip side, I'm willing to put up with a LOT from a person I actually like as a person and, in fact, grow to like things that initially start out irritating me.

Then again, Arcanaville intimidates and impresses me. In that order.

... I'm going to choose to NOT respond to this post in the manner I was thinking of originally... and instead smile and wink at Vivace, who because she's outgoing, sexy, and a cowgirl, is more appealing to the likes of me.

.. besides, my math skills only extend as far as Euclidean geometry and the occasional math party trick, I'm afraid Arcanaville would be sorely disappointed in my lack of number-fu.

The best part is when this friend reads this thread he's going to be pissed at me.

[/ QUOTE ]

I imagine, at the very least, he will be quite unimpressed with you.
I imagine he would make a point about ArcanaVille having already proven Sexieness by her dedication to the Math.
At least, those are the things I would imagine to be the case.

*blushes and blows kisses*

I respect anyone who can do math with ease. That is the only subject I ever had any problems with at school, and no matter how hard I studied I could usually only pull off a B+.

Possibly, but this being Johnny Butane, he'd arrive at the date, tell her she was doing it wrong, that the restaurant wasn't a real restaurant because he wanted italian but they only served thai food, complain that she wasn't improving to suit his needs, argue that he was going to go out with someone else who was better and more available, yet still insist on staying the entire evening despite threatening to leave repeatedly.

So, I have this friend, and he posts on these forums, and he's just kinda curious.

Are you hot?

[/ QUOTE ]

Be careful of marrying a woman smarter than you. As Lord Byron opined:

<ul type="square">
'T is pity learned virgins ever wed

With persons of no sort of education,

Or gentlemen, who, though well born and bred,

Grow tired of scientific conversation:

I don't choose to say much upon this head,

I'm a plain man, and in a single station,

But --- Oh! ye lords of ladies intellectual,

Inform us truly, have they not hen-pecked you all?[/list]

Remember that he also posted:[ QUOTE ]
My friend might be my wife.

[/ QUOTE ]

...

So that could possibly be a disqualifying question.

On to the discussion of physical states...

[ QUOTE ]
Technically, SHE wouldn't be humid, just experiencing humidity.

[/ QUOTE ] i suppose technically she would be moist (one of the most disliked words in the English language, inexplicably enough), or downright wet, assuming of course she's not some sort of mummy, lich or other dessicated animate cadaver. Which seems terribly unlikely.

i've said it many times before myself, just not on the boards: "Awww, that makes me feel all warm and squishy inside. No, wait, that's blood."

So humid only as an understatement of her state.

This entire thread is silly, though it has reminded me that i'd like to visit Hawaii some day. Also Europe, but that's less topical. (It's also less tropical. *rim shot*)
.
.
.
[i]Wow, can't you feel the love in this thread? Especially in contrast to the other recent open letter threads.

I daresay that the actual reasons why Byron's marriage to his princess of parallelograms didn't work out were quite different -- by all accounts, the two were an exceedingly poor match for one another.
