AoE Death machine?

Hi there.
No going to go into details, but I absolutely HATE my Ss/Invuln...I dont want anything to do with either anymore, especialy for farming. Which is the only thing I realy do with him...Ok, enough about that...
I am looking for a brute that can wipe out large spawns faster than they can kill me.
Of course I will be farming Lib for the most part. Money is a little object...My curent main has roughly 200m worth of IO's on him, plus maybe another 100m worth of salvage, recipes, IO's on other alts I can gut to achieve what I am looking for.
From looking at Mids, there seems to be a few options;
Db/
ElM/
Fm/

And for Secondaries;
/Da
/ElA
/Fa
/Sd

My reasons for leaving out everything else is for character concept. What I have listed can fit in the peramitors of the concept I am working with.
The main reason I left out Sm is, I am not a monkey at a zoo flinging poo at people...Tho, now that I think about it, that would be pretty funny
So, any ideas what would work best out of what I have listed? I would like to start this toon this weekend sometime since its a long weekend, I could get far enough to decide if its going to work well enough for me or not.
Thanks in advance for all yor help with this.

I hate all this terrorist business. I used to love the days when you could look at an unattended bag on a train or bus and think to yourself.... I'm going to take that.

SS/Fire is not really an AOE beast, but he is an AOE DMG Spamming toon. I have one and it can dish some dmg. I also have an Elec/SD which really is an AOE beast, like you are looking for; however, I think my SS/Fire can out perform it. Haven't run any numbers to compare, just my overall feel. Hope this helps.

elec/sheild, your time between your twin tier 9 uber attacks is spent herding up as many mobs as you can

Posted

i wouldnt go with any of those secondaries.

if you want to mostly aoe, that means some herding. and to herd, you gotta survive

while the secondaries you listed can survive most mobs - they all have a group or two that just eat through them.

personally if i were to make another herding brute it would be an /sr brute. why? defense debuffs in the form of various lethal attacks are EXTREMELY common in this game.

sadly none of the brute primaries are very good for aoe. it's too bad we dont have spines.

If you are primarily going to farm Liberate, I would stay away from elec/shields for 2 reasons. The stacked vengeance they get will eat through your defense and also elec is lacking in the ST damage department which you will need some to take down the bosses.

I would roll a SS/Fire, it should prove to be the fastest to farm Liberate.

sheild can have def debff resistence of 94%,

My elec/sheild, and for that matter, my DM/Sheild scrapper can outsurvive anything, lvl 54 boss agro cap, AVs, Giant monsters

SS/SD Brute. Footstomp and Shield Bash give plenty of strong AoE goodness, and you have strong ST damage as well. You'll be squishier than some brutes, but you have a whole lot of Knockdown powers to keep them from being able to touch you in the first place.

SS/Fire is another good choice. Blazing Aura and Footstomp give more solid DPS than SS/Shield, but the burst damage isn't as high.

I hear good things about Elec/Willpower Brutes, too. They have good AoE damage And decent St damage, and both types can have another attack added from the Mu Mastery epic pool. It's also sturdy, and recovers endurance quickly.

None of these are a Spines/Dark or Spines/Fire scrapper. There just isn't a brute set that has that kind of constant AoE dps.

Too many alts to list.

I think you have that back words. Neither Spines/Dark nor Spines/Fire can put out the same AoE DPS as SS/Fire.

If you can get your SS/Fire to survive ginormous hordes of enemies that is the build you want. It takes practice and some cunning use of inspirations to get you through fighting hordes of difficult enemies. Once you figure it out no melee toon compares to the damage potential of an SS/Fire Brute. Add in a teammate with Fulcrum Shift and things get truly crazy.

I'm trying out a Electric / Fire Brute myself. On Mid's it doesn't look too bad. AoEs, cones, damage aura, build-up, and Firey Embrace...not too shabby. Add tough and Mu Patron for electric fences and burn is useful without having the mobs scatter to the 4 winds.
The biggest problem you'll have to deal with on Fire Aura is the lack of Immobile protection(unless you take Burn or combat jumping) and Knockback protection.

I'm workin on a ss/sd for an AOE death machine. I'll tell you how it goes when I get IO'd out.

From what I can tell it will be amazing as long as I can cap my defense. Then I will focus on global recharge and damage on my AOE's.

Posted

From what I understand its rediculasly expensive to cap anything on /Sd A friend of mine in game got a Ss/Sd up to 50 and after Ioing both both builds the best he could afford, he used all the respecs he could get and buy to get all the IO's back and put on his Ss/Wp brute...then he deleted it...Never saw anyone more frustrated in a LONG time than he was playing that squishy thing.

Well I've been farming and selling on the black market for a long time... I pretty much have an unlimited amount of influence to spend on the build. I will also be taking soul mastery for the AOE -tohit debuff. Together I'm thinking I'll be ok.

Actually it's not. I built mine for about 80M, which is cheap compared to billion infamy builds you see posted. And yes, it's soft capped for both melee/ranged and with AoE at 42%.

How does SS/Fire deal with all the End drain?

I play an SS/WP, am now level 27, and found myself just groaning through levels 12 to 20. Once I got Quick Recovery, THEN I started to actually level at a brisk pace. Getting to 27 was nothing, and now that I have both QR and Stamina with SOs, I just TEAR right through everything.

So how does SS/Fire do it?

Quick question. When people are discussing the price of their builds, are they typically referring to the cost of buing the enhancements or the cost of buying the recipes and crafting themselves? Just wondering, as my level 32 WM/SD brute only has about 13 million and I know I have a long way to go.

Try my AE Arc: Out of Place, Out of Time ID#304340.
Leave your Arc title in the feedback and I will check yours out as well.

My 2 cents.

My brute is a dual blade/fire armor. I designed him to be good about doing aoe damage while mitigating incoming damage through using of DB's knockdown attacks (1000 cuts does cone effect knockdown, Sweep combo has pbaoe knockdown, Vengeful Slice is single target knockdown). Healing Flames comes back real quickly, and if they get through and kill you, Rise of the Phoenix is great revenge (damage + stun AOE) combined into a self ress.

Hope this helps.

I put 1 endurance reducer in each of my attacks. also Consume alleviates alot of that.

I'd go Ele/Shield for the Lightning Rod/Sheild Charge combo!

Lots of fun there, the best Brute nuke in the game!

Consume for getting Endurance and Healing Flames is a nice heal which leads to little downtime for SS/Fire.

Add the Electric Fences - Burn combo.

Here is your AOE Death Machine. Does not fit your concept but who needs that when you are this damn good.

Currently no PvP sets in mids. Gladiator armor is in MOB including the +def.

Well just comparing the 2 attacks it's not, but the DPS of FS will be better than LR.
