Blapping eh? Sound like the only way to play it for max performance .I will focus in making it a good "blapping" blaster then. I'm just 32.Will pick what I find it would be efficient to deal Huge melee dmg.Is focus on recgh to have aim/BU often like it was say,I would like to see how i could add +def since there isn't many option. Should be ok?

    [/ QUOTE ]

akk you left out combustion!!! shame on you, ditch that snipe

heres how I would change your build, I think the slottings better on many things such as

BA and hotfeet need significant endurance reductions

Positrons blasts need to lose damage/range, you want chance for energy damage in there and a generic +recharge IO

You wont be holding anything and bonfire can be a fun keep away power

perfromance shifter proc is far more use in stamina

Fly isnt a very good travel power for a fire/fire, I swapped out for leaping, combat jump adds some small defence too and that stacks with the +def bonuses in the build (24% for melee)

You dont need to focus so much on recharge, you have plenty of attacks to set the world on fire

anyway heres my trake on your build

  2. [ QUOTE ]
One thing great about tick damage is that even enemies with a high defense will still get affected as long as they're within the aura's range., like those pesky evasive Rikti drones.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Rikti drones have defence to melee and ranged attacks, not aoe so fire/fires can munch them all day long
  3. get your backside alongside the tanks and scrappers and set the world on fire. fire/fires are walking nukes, I get complains from kinetics on my STF teams because the mobs are dead before they can fire off fulcrum shift, I made it as a bit of a joke originally, as the secondary powers seem a bit lame for the most part I can fill up on secondaries but in ultimate spec I have every single fire secondary power, the only one I would be happy to lose is the one I cant, ring of fire.

Damage is your mitigation, mobs dont stay alive long, hotfeet makes them break off and start to run and burn makes them run even more, blazing aura and hotfeet rack up an alarming amount of damage over time. People dismiss hotfeet out of hand but its awesome at lowering the incoming damage, getting "in and out" will get you more attacks coming that staying in with HF on as it keeps making the mobs break off.

Ignore armchair pundits and find out what you enjoy, you can always respec but fire/fire EXCELLs in melee range, if you want to stay at range go energy manipulation and get boost range.

Rise of the phoenix is also very useful for getting yourself back on your feet to lay out some more smackdown
  4. [ QUOTE ]
If anyone can solo AVs, the idea of them being team content is pretty meaningless.

The problem is when theoretically soloable content - the downpowered EBs - are functionally unsoloable.

    [/ QUOTE ]

functionally unsoloable to who? I never had real problems with EBs on any of my dominators at any level range, even back in i6. I will admit some dominators will have more problems than others due to the nature of their secondary effects in both primary and secondaries but the same can be said of any AT, a mind/ff controller isnt going to set the world alight in the same way as other combinations will.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Perhaps more significantly Blasters are explicitly intended to be damage dealers with two powersets directly supporting that archetypal design. The ranged modifier notwithstanding, Castle explicitly stated that the intent of the I11 Blaster changes was *not* to make ranged damage preeminent, but to better balance the choice between ranged and melee offense, to better represent the archetype as a damage dealer with both ranged and melee options.

    [/ QUOTE ]

so dev blasters are the developers running joke?
  6. Icesickle

    Team Brute.

    [ QUOTE ]
"If one is playing Cold you can softcap any defense set easily, for example, and IOs aren't required for any of it. The much-maligned Electric Armor doesn't have any holes that a Thermal (or Pain) can't patch, and will provide passive +recharge with unlimited endurance."

Ohhh, one is planning to play dark/cold and the other Energy/Pain. LOL. Sounds like I have some room to play.

Thanks so much for the input guys. I really appreciate it.
    Have a good one!

    [/ QUOTE ]

with a cold and a pain in tow you could play tank with a dominator and the presence pool.....

Pick whatever you think sounds fun
  7. powerboost does work on PFF which also has significant resists in it though, so the reasoning that this is why it works on FF and not ice sheilds is somewhat flawed

edit * it only boosts the defence portion of PFF not the resists
  8. [ QUOTE ]
One charry for me as well, and for my sake, its my only level 50 on Heroside, it'd be a pain to loose her. I got no response from them either, but its only been a day since.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    5 days here, nothing.....pathetic really
  9. Icesickle

    Team Brute.

elec melee is super awesome with sheild, seriously

with other secondaries its kinda "meh"

as for being a tank you can cap out your defences with the right build for perma godmode but in a team of three any of you should be able to do it unless you are running a no secondary team
  10. I think aid self gives more mitigation than tough does
  11. losing patience on support now, 5 days and no response
  12. [ QUOTE ]
However, that doesn't mean you're in any sort of danger of being personally singled out if you do make an honest mistake.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Tell that to the people banned for using leveling pacts, because when the devs were doling out their punishments the game perceived them as gaining too many levels too quickly because they "gain" all their XP from the pact upon login.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
If you want to consider the magnitude separate to who it effects then that's up to you, you can try to nitpick semantics all you want but my statement still remains valid.

The buff itself is "massive" for the fact that it doesn't affect the caster, which makes it useless in the eyes of many scrappers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

your statement was and still is incorrect, aside from taking my point OUT of context, insulation sheild and deflection sheild COMBINED are the closest equivilent defences that can be "given" to the amount that GC gives and dont buff the caster.

And as evil geko stated it DOES buff the player, just not with defence
  14. [ QUOTE ]
All the powers you compare it to give the person casting the power the benefits of the buff as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

kind of irrelevant as that wasnt what I was talking about, I was refering to it being described as a low magnitude buff when in reality its massive.

    [ QUOTE ]
I was referring to the first sentence, I'd use quotes but I'm lazy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

try reading and being less lazy, let me help you out

    [ QUOTE ]
    Low magnitude?

    [/ QUOTE ]

theres the first sentence, the second sentence included referencing insulation sheild and deflection sheild.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
I'm not a dude, but what you're describing is in fact a change rather than a buff - a sidegrade - which does not address the community's top three stated problems, and that is exactly what I was complaining about. I am completely unimpressed by this "significantly different role"; the old role only needed minor tweaks to stop sucking, and I don't see how the new role will suck any less. It will merely suck differently. And not just for "soloing AVs" - EBs are enough to waste a casually-played dom. Piddly damage buffs make zero difference whatsoever.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What the hell are you whining about? Piddly damage buff? Its like running round after popping 3 small reds. You have no concept of how they will affect dominators or change the playing dynamic, especially as its not on a player testable environment yet. It will alter how they deail with mez resistent NPCs significantly but allowing them to lay out 75% more damage at base AND give them higher caps allowing them to get more from outside buffs like fulcrum shift. How do brutes deal with AVs? They lay out damage, same as scrappers and blasters.

You can make the assumption on how they will "suck" with having "twin primaries" but the fact is its irrelevant and meaningless, just like how the devs had MMs tagged as the red side tank (and this was before bodyguard mode was on the game) but in reality it was a terrible functionality for MMs.

You dont like the prospect of a very significant increase in damage keep your dominator in mothballs and head off to another section of the boards and enjoy what you do like because clearly dominators are not for you. I leveled up an Ice/ice and a mind/psi back in the bad old days, this is all just gravy.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Who said we're ignoring our teammates and don't want to protect our friends? Oh, that's right, skipping a low-magnitude, small-area defensive power is de-facto evidence.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Totally. (Forgive the modified quote.)

If I'm on a squishy and I want a Scrapper's help, I want him to run up and kick something's butt, not get near me with a +def power I'd hardly be able to notice on its own.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Low magnitude? dude its better than any defensive giving power in the game, in terms of the defence it gives its better than defenders dispersion bubble, better than arachnos soldiers maneuvers, it fractionally less than having a defenders insulation sheild and deflection sheild cast on you. Its massive mitigation by anyones standards

oh and the values on mids are wrong in case you are using that as your guide.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Am I the only one who thinks that this particular dom overhaul is totally tangential to reality?

The number one dom issue in the dom issues thread is our hefty weakness vs hard single targets like EBs/AVs, and this has certainly been my experience 40+. A tweak to damage isn't going to help me where I need it most. It will get me through the map just a little bit faster where I can have just as much trouble as before with the endboss.

The whole thing feels like a mostly-irrelevant sidegrade, even as a not-perma-dom, and gives me no reason to salvage my dominator.

I'd love to hear that I've misunderstood.

    [/ QUOTE ]

dude, the basic premise of the "buffs" is to make the dominator the first primary/primary AT in the game, which means a control primary and a damage primary. Yes dominators get boned on the whole AV potds but the increase in base damage gives dominators a significantly different role right from level one.

    [ QUOTE ]
To that end, I am proposing the following changes to Dominators, effective in the I15 release. The overall effect of these changes will be refocusing the AT from Control primary with Damage as a weak secondary, to effectively giving the Dominator dual primary purposes of Control and Damage. While this sounds unbalancing, it is apparent from how the ATs are being used that this is actually the proper method of addressing the issues of this AT.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You are not supposed to be able to solo AVs on any AT anyway, its a team objective, that said some can do it easier than others but such is life. Personally I have already drawn up a defence heavy IO build for my new fire/fire ready to take advantage of the new changes and its infinately cheaper than a permadom build.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Taking Grant Cover, one power pick and no additional slot, doesn't in any way gimp your damage. I don't remember the exact numbers, but I think there's about 23 powers and 67 additional slots at level 50.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not about power picks and slots, it's about running yet another toggle. Not having endurance tends to gimp one's damage, as damage tends to cost endurance to dish out. Taking powers to mitigate that, then, gets into the real of costing powers and slots.

    [/ QUOTE ]

the end cost of grant cover is pretty small, one of the cheapest toggles in the game
  19. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
after slotting, you will be doing slightly more damage than you used to do in domination mode

    [/ QUOTE ]

Castle said it was 46% more in ranged. Which is it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

he said the ranged damage CAP was 46% higher
  20. in i12 they made it so you had to log in a 50 so people were unable to peek at the new VEAT powersets on the test server character creator on closed beta. It didnt work and everyone saw them anyway as a few people not in closed beta were able to log in their 50s for a few seconds thus enabling the VEAT creation.

Now its just an annoyance, as mentioned just log in a 50 and you are good to go
  21. leadership probably isnt a good thing for you to get so early on, its something that should be looked at in the late 20s at the earliest IMO unless running a superteam formation (basically a superteam all get leadership buffs and they stack from being small to awesome)

there isnt really anything bad in dominators, /psi is pretty weak untill level 38 but thats about it, energy isnt awesome but you will get by easily enough.

I would recommend this though -

reroll your dominator, level 10 is easy enough to get to

for pool powers you want to take a travel power (speed, leaping, flight, teleport) at 14 (you need the pre-requisite to get the actual travel power, hasten for example which incidently is awesome) and aim to get stamina from the fitness pool by level 20 (you need 2 prerequisites for that)
  22. /anything will work just fine, mines MA/Regen, my mum (yes she plays and Im old ) has a MA/WP.

I dont recall ever seeing a MA/DA though
  23. EA is actually the stronger part of your combo, its no longer the lame duck it once was

    EM however.....
  24. 3 days since i petitioned a character that got too many vet rewards and packs applied to it (only one character on whole account) and nothing but

Thank you for reporting this issue.

I am transferring this ticket to our City of Heroes Support Team for further investigation. They will be in contact with you as soon as they have more information to provide.

    [/ QUOTE ]

would love some information on this, am somewhat loathe to play and slot up a character that may need a restore to an earlier point. Just tell me if its fine or not
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Speculation is pretty silly at this time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

its the ideal time for speculation, speculating AFTER the event is pretty silly....
