Team Brute.

Curious to get some experienced brutes input. A couple of buddies and I are going to try and get a trio going so I figured I'd provide the muscle. If I wanted to rock the Elm/ what secondary would you all recommend that I could use to act as party "tank"? I should mention that at this point I really don't have any resources to speak of so I think IO's etc will be out of the question for a little while. Thanks for any input you're willing to provide!

elec melee is super awesome with sheild, seriously

with other secondaries its kinda "meh"

as for being a tank you can cap out your defences with the right build for perma godmode but in a team of three any of you should be able to do it unless you are running a no secondary team

My first ELM toon was a Willpower. The 2nd was a shield. The shield needs IOs to work. The Willpower works fine on generics.

I suggest Willpower.

Zang. So I could get away with playing WP with a minimal amount of Min/Max'ing? As I understand it, Shield requires a certain amount of number crunching to get right, or am I incorrect?

Both my buddies are pretty set on playing corruptors. :P

/wp with either resistence or defense buffs is very nice and can be built on the cheap. The fact that /wp is also completely fire and forget makes it easy to play around with your buddies and not forget to click something and die.

The only issue with Willpower is that Rise to the Challenge is the single weakest taunt aura available, so it'll be easy for your friends to pull aggro off of you.

But if they're both playing Corruptors, you may have better options available depending on what secondaries they're choosing. If one is playing Cold you can softcap any defense set easily, for example, and IOs aren't required for any of it. The much-maligned Electric Armor doesn't have any holes that a Thermal (or Pain) can't patch, and will provide passive +recharge with unlimited endurance. If one is playing Storm you may want to rethink playing a Brute altogether (j/k - it's not that bad with KB but they need to know how to use it versus just scattering things). Even if one is going to play a Kinetic, I still wouldn't recommend Stone unless you just simply like the idea, though - it will always perform worse offensively than any other secondary. Others may recommend it for "tanking", but with buffs any other set will survive just as well or better.

Ohhh, one is planning to play dark/cold and the other Energy/Pain. LOL. Sounds like I have some room to play.

Thanks so much for the input guys. I really appreciate it.
Have a good one!

with a cold and a pain in tow you could play tank with a dominator and the presence pool.....

Pick whatever you think sounds fun
