I have both a purpled out Fire/Psi and SS/Fire. Before the changes my Fire/Psi >> SS/Fire, but now it's the other way around.
I didn't really run the numbers on my Fire/Psi now, but before the changes I ran Liberate in around 22 minutes and the Nemesis platform in 5-6 minutes. Can't really compare Liberate times with my Brute since I run 8 man, but it took roughly 8 minutes to clear the Nemesis platform with my Brute.
Sure, you can still farm with a Dom, but not as efficient as a Brute. -
If you do it like that then I can see it work. I forgot that Lili was facing even con'd AV's, while I typed my response I was thinking about my experience with 52 and 53 AV's. With no extra confuse protection, I can put out around a 90 mag confuse on a lvl 50 AV, but it's obviously reduced as their level goes up which makes that strategy pretty useless against higher level AV's.
-
Yea I don't think Lili did anything wrong. Why break LOS when the idea is to you know, permahold the AV? Eventually it's going to happen and the mez will wear off because of too many misses. If that happens that's what Mesmerize , inpsirations and jumping over the AV is for.
Using confuse would make killing slower. Even with the animation changes it's hard to permaconfuse AV's and still be able to put out enough damage. Does it ever occur to you that a held target does not attack you or pop their tier9? And just like Lili said, yellows are useless when you already have a 95% chance to-hit.
You also said that the fights could've have been a lot shorter, certainly yes if shivans and nukes were used. But, what's the point of that when anyone can do it that way? -
Also, you didn't get Dominate, I wouldn't pass that up.
-
My power went out at the beginning of the raid, but I'm glad it went well.
-
Would have to test it out with herostats to see if it's worth it or not. Being surrounded by a bunch of enemies won't be a problem when farming. If you're willing to sacrafice a little ranged defense, you can always move the slot over from SJ also.
Another thing I noticed is there's no end reduction slotted in Foot Stomp. I would personally replace the Damage Armageddon with the Dam/End one, you'll only be losing about 5 points of damage. -
If you can find a way to move another slot over to Foot Stomp, I highly suggest putting the Force Feedback +Recharge proc in there. Although I don't have a Fire/SS, I do have a SS/Fire and the proc fires off every 2-3 Foot Stomps atleast, sometimes it even fires off that many times in a row.
-
Yes, it can still farm but not close to as good as it used to. I switched to my SS/Fire for my main farmer while pre-i15 it was the other way around.

I ended up with similar numbers to Smurphy's build. Only difference is he has more defense, but I personally don't think the 11 or 12% is really worth it especially without any debuff resistance. Both are solid builds.

There are various types of builds that were posted in this thread. The build I use is on the first page. -
Quote:To softcap S/L defense and to cap HP.Why are people taking earth over fire for their controller epics?
Coldmed, what the hell are you farming if you think a Fire/Kin or any farming toon for that matter would die against minions and LT's? If you're purposely farming hard enemies, you're doing it wrong. And just like Kruunch said I would embarrass your tank with my Spines/Fire, my Fire/Kin is on an inactive account. -
Permadom is still very desirable to have so I would try to get more recharge in the build. I personally never built my Doms around defense (I just pop purples since inspirations drop like candy while farming) since well you have an active defense, but to each their own.
If infamy isn't a problem, you can just slot some LotG 7.5's to reach Permadom without changing your build much. Lastly, Drain Psyche doesn't need end mod, not one. I'd replace the Efficacy Adaptors with a 5 set of Doctored Wounds and an Acc IO since your global accuracy isn't that high. I'm not sure how fast Fire/Psi's solo bosses now, I replaced mine with my SS/Fire as my main farmer. -
I lead the yellow taunt team a couple of times in the past, but I can't commit to anything like that right now. I'm pretty sure I can make it to the raid to help out with the spike team, since my Brute no longer has taunt.
-
Yes, Super Strength needs recharge to be really effective as a farming toon because of its one AoE you want it back as fast as you can. Also, you should remove those Acc IO's, between global accuracy and rage, you'll be fine.
-
I agree, defense looks good, but for a farming build high recharge is a must for SS/.
-
I usually farm with a SS/Fire/Mu Brute villain side and I almost never stack rage, it's not worth it in the end. Yes, you get extra damage, but you also crash more often which really hurts your damage output more than you think. Although, I never tested it out with a Tank I don't think there's much of a difference.
-
First, I'd like to say is a Tank is the last thing I would use for farming with their great survivability and mediocre damage, the idea of farming is you know, kill as fast as you can. My Fire/Psi Permadom used to be my fastest farmer until i15(PSW nerf). But now My Spines/Fire Scrapper or SS/Fire Brute would run circles around any Tank or Fire/Kin.
I'm not denying the fact that Fire/Kins are great for farming. Not many builds can farm well with just SO's. Though the 2 toons listed above both outdamage my Fire/Kin. -
I don't know what server the OP was playing on, but there were problems on some servers like Champion(which I play on). Why do you think we're getting another double xp weekend?

Quote:Though, I agree having Soul Tentacles (it's a cone not AoE) is nice, I wouldn't replace Psi Tornado with it. Since Psi Tornado has knockup, it helps with the mobs scattering and it does more damage and has a shorter cast time than Psi Scream. I actually took Psi Scream out of my build and just have Psi Tornado and Dart Burst as my AoE/Cone attacks. The only thing I miss from Psi Scream is the -recharge, otherwise Dart Burst is a better damage attack. It has a shorter recharge and cast time and does more damage.I just respec my Fortuanta and take AoE immb from Ghost Widow instead of using Psi Tornado. Tornado is ok. It has a large radius but what I find most annoying about farming with Fortunata is when the mob runs away.
I save more time trying to immb (it has some damage too) and just hit range attacks (Scream is a good cone).
That's one advice I can give you. -
Tubby gave some good advice. If you have Drain Psyche and Power Sink, endurance won't be a problem.
Quote:Strife stated that he/she was only using basic IO's. And I know for a fact you don't have Domination up 5 times before the first one drops. I'm sure you can stack it once for a decent amount of time (which is useless now), but you're definitely not stacking it 2 times, let alone 5.I have slotted mine for the fire powers with +damage +recharge if your goning with making a perma dom recharge is a must and you want to slot it is as much as you can and then and some lotgs +7.5 recharge i have dom up 5 times before the first one runs out but it all depends as well as how you intend on playing your fire psi dom -
Quote:For Permadom 3 you need at least +122.5% recharge. You might be able to get away with having one or two percent less, but that seemed like the bare minimum to me.Looking to see if I have this right. Please correct me if I'm wrong here.
To achieve Perma-Dom, you need about +125% Recharge. This can be achieved -without- Hasten.
Bonuses also stack a little silly. A "particular" bonus can only be stacked 5 times. Now for example, does this mean that you can slot +6.25 Recharge 5 times, and +5.0 Recharge 5 times and get a full effect, or am I missing something? -
It depends what you're farming. My build above was originally built to mostly farm Liberate Television, before AE came out. That's why I have 3 -KB IO's in, Fake Nemesis can knock you back if you have any less. Also, that's why I didn't build towards defense because it becomes useless when vengeance is stacked.
-
Quote:Yea alphas can hurt sometime on my Brute, but the damage it dishes makes it not a big issue. Minions and LT's have no chance to survive with FS + Elec Fences + Ball Lightning + Burn. Also, it can take more damage with over 2k HPSS gives you the mitigation on a Brute to get away from *some* defense but I'd be guessing even with a high recharging Footstomp, your Brute tends to feel alphas in near agro cap situations?
Yes my build can solo my farm (although your life will yoyo something fierce at the beginning of each double pack). Takes a bit over an hour for a full map and yields up about 50mil inf. If I purposefully pull single packs all the time (10-15 mobs) I can do it while reading a book
When I do a farm my farm team is myself, a Spines/Dark Scrapper and 2 Fire/Kin Trollers (all friends). We do my map until ticket cap and restart. We average about a million influence per minute (by the clock) not including what you sell ticket purchased recipes for (usually another 50-200 mil influence depending on the luck of your rolls (we do Silver rolls L35-39)). Ticket capping is about 300 (5 mins) seconds or so.
Like I said, built completely different but both are very effective. -
I have almost the same exact build as you Kruunch, pretty much the only difference is I have a Ragnarok set in Throw Spines. I'm coming off from playing a SS/Fire Brute, so I still need to get used to using Burn effectively without an an immobolize.
The approach I took on my Brute was completely different, high recharge and virtually no defense. Although, I need something to test out my new build. Do you solo that farm with your Spines/Fire that's in your sig?
