Look at the bar, there's an epic pet.
Active (Freedom): Setna (Ice/Psi Dom), Arram (WP/KM Tank), Tesmiel (Elec/SS Tank), Astredax (Robot/Dark Mastermind), Operative Vidali (melee fortunata)
Retired (Virtue): Gaav (Inv/EM Tank), Baqra (Fire/SS Tank)
I had to post this once I saw the character!
Howdy there, I'm Oedipus Tex.
You may have heard of my brother Rex;
Yes, Oedipus Tex, that's what I said.
But my friends, just call me Ed.

You mind either posting your build or pm'ing it to me? I would really like to know your dps, eps and your attack chain.
Also congrats.

Of course it is. theoretically, archivllains are supposed tob e unsoloable. And really, can you call anything a signifciant accomplishment, if it is exactly what is expected of you and no more?
80+ minutes just means there is room for improvement. I'm sure Lil wanted to go a certain way with his build and not just for solo'ing AV's. However if he did slot only for an AV build, I'm sure the time would be shorter. That is why I'm curious of his build and since I'm at work I can't watch the video so I can't really tell what his attack chain is.

I have to say, I would be interestede to see it too.
I intentionally limited myself to the bare minimum that I thought could achieve the goal. This is good forum practice to stop people belittling the achievement. In future AV fights I think I'll utilize some more expedient tactics, like getting teammates.
My build isn't optimized for soloing AVs, it's a general PvE build designed to handle everything, including low level Strike Forces and the Master RSF. Of course, it's pretty high-powered, I'll post it soon. If anyone can tell me how to choose specific levels for enhancements in Mid's that would really help in showing the nuances.
Here's a break down of my tactics. I'll talk mostly about Ghost Widow because she was much tougher to deal with. I made plenty of errors, including a few in the video.
<ul type="square">[*]Maintaining the hold
Obviously the only way I could survive the fight is to perma-hold my opponent, which means always using Dominate as soon as it is available. A few misses means they'll break free of the hold and in the case of Ghost Widow, she has two DoT powers which can 1-shot me (Gloom and Soul Storm). While fighting Ghost Widow I cast Dominate something like 1800 times, so statistically I'm going to have missing streaks, and need to insure against those. Most important is to cast Dominate as soon as possible, I found in earlier attempts that the slight delay of including both Blaze and Fireblast on each cycle was too much and the hold was too sensitive to misses. Also, streakbreaker was my friend, all my powers had a 95% chance to hit, so if I missed once, the streakbreaker forced the next power to hit. I'd use this to force Dominate to hit, skipping an attack if necessary.[*]Establishing the hold
It takes about 11 or 12 Dominates to establish the hold (not 9 or 10 because Domination only grants extended duration to one of the 3 mag effects) which means I need a way to survive the first 35 seconds or so against them uncontrolled. With Positron I just popped Demonic, but that didn't help against Ghost Widow, and anyway I wanted to go without accolades or inspirations the second time. So, I used the triangle down period to get 25 seconds of safety while I built up mag, and then had a hair-raising few seconds of her free while I built up that last mag. Mesmerize was invaluable here, it allowed me to sleep her to get in position for starting the fun (her perception is huge once she's aggroed), and alternating it with Dominate disrupted her enough to allow me to survive. Also, when an enemy wakes up and you're behind them, the first thing they do is turn around, which delays other action. That's why I had Combat Jumping on and was leaping like a mad thing over her head. I also used the streakbreaker here, tossing in a cast of Flares or Mesmerize between each Dominate in the hope that I would miss and force Dominate to hit. The same tactic applied when they managed to get free of the hold.[*]Dealing damage
Between Dominates I had (less than?) 2 seconds to deal damage which allowed me one attack and a self-buff if it was available. Blaze was the obvious preferred choice here, although it's got a longer recharge time than Dominate, so I had to use Fire Blast instead when Blaze wasn't recharged. There are three self-buffs: Domination and Hasten both need to be activated as soon as they are available; Fiery Embrace needs to be activated when the stacked Domination damage buffs drop, otherwise I'm hitting the damage cap and lowering my damage output. For some reason I was confused and thought Blaze was slower to activate than Fire Blast, so I would always try and fit the self-buffs in with Fire Blast when in fact Blaze was a better choice.[*]Luck and Patience
I assaulted Ghost Widow probably a dozen times. Some of those times I'd survive by putting her to sleep and starting again, some of them she'd one shot me. When I finally succeeded she was very gentle with me in the powers she used, and she missed the one time she tried Soul Storm (~65% chance to hit). The most discouraging thing was when she healed herself up perhaps 25%. It looked like a melee heal attack, so after that I moved a bit further away.[/list]

[/ QUOTE ]
Actually there are two pets I could have summoned, the patron pet and the vet reward pet. There are a few factors at work: I'm out of the habit of summoning pets because I like to go stealthy a lot; I like the extra challenge/establish the bare minimum; the patron pets annoy me.

On this part, I'm just curious about a subsection of your build that ought to be more doable to post--what's your global recharge and how do you have your ST hold slotted? I've long curious about just what it takes to perma-hold an AV with a single hold, but I've yet to really run the math. It'd be nice to see an example of one that works for a baseline.
Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
A dozen assaults on GW, that sounds like farming to me
I'm just not sure what the purpose of this was. The time it took just makes me feel bad.
Was it morbid curiosity? I mean I would have just run the numbers, saw it would take half a week and moved on.
At 80 mins you were dealing less than 6 dps over the regen rate. I'm not sure if I would post a 100 dps build, but like I said, gj I guess.
Personally I was frustrated if my fire/storm/psy troller took more than 5 mins to drop AV's that don't have a godmode/dullpain. Just before Castle pulled the plug on Lightning storm I could tag the weak AV's (which Posi and GW certainly aren't) in just under 3 min (no insp, clicks, temps).
I'm just not sure what the point was other than going for the masochist badge.
Find a way to put a purple dam proc in dom and blaze and you'll cut that time by a factor of 6x.
Heya,
I've soloed a bunch of AVs on my Dom, too! I'm Fire/Fire, though, and not Mind/Fire. Here are some pics, because I don't know how to make videos:
Synapse
Hro'Dtohz
Positron (posibot version)
and
Silver Mantis.
I've done a couple of others, but these are the ones I got to photobucket before my computer died last week.
Anyway, the pattern is mostly the same. If it's mezzable and doesn't have insane fire resists, you can kill it. Fire Imps actually add a lot to my damage, so I take the AV down pretty quickly - it rarely takes me more than 10-15 minutes.
I don't have Demonic, so I just use a bunch of purples to start the fight and establish the hold. I've heard that some players have had a lot of success perma-confusing the AV first, since it's a non-aggro power with a really long duration, and then moving to establish the hold. Could that minimize risk for you?
For damage, I use Blaze and Incinerate. It might just be psychological, but I find that Incinerate does more than Fire Blast and still lets me squeeze one in without making the hold come back too slowly. I do use Fire Blast when I want to squeeze in a self-buff like Domination or Fiery Embrace, though. Mostly, I just Char+Blaze+Char+Incinerate+Char+Blaze forever, throwing a Char+Domination/FE+Fire Blast+Char in there as either of those two self-buff powers come up.
For keeping the hold on, the streakbreaker is indeed your friend. As I've gotten more practice and my tactics have improved, I've found that it's a good idea to monitor my tohit rolls so I can see when Char misses, and then throw Cinders next instead of an attack. The streakbreaker forces it to it, thus maintaining the full hold I've had running and allowing me to throw another Char right away and patch things up. Even with Cinders down, I can survive one miss without the hold dropping. If I miss with Char twice in quick succession and Cinders is not up, I'm in trouble. This is rare.
Anyway, congrats on your accomplishment!
The Ballad of Iron Percy
Heh, thanks for posting this. I like watching stuff like this and hearing peoples explanations for trying such feats. Sometimes it's just fun trying things out to see what happens.
After not seeing GW's health bar budge for awhile I would have probably moved on to try something else. Good job of sticking it out and making it happen.
@The_Hedgemon
I'd suggest using the wegame video recorder, it worked well with my videos (cagronomy is my youtube name & my plant/thorn was before wegame).
An important feature of this build is that it has permadom when malefed down as low as 19.

It is an awesome name. If you get a chance, find the CD by Peter Schikile (PDQ Bach) and you can have some battle cries that nobody you'll team with will quite know what to say like "Save it for your Horse". Personally, I found his mock-opera to be one of his poorer parodies. In any case, there wouldn't be any potential name issue with it, and I didn't mean to imply it. I just wanted to point you towards a theme song for your dominator.
Congratulations again. Most of my characters would be hard pressed to do that, much less any of my dominators.

Thanks for the linky
Well, I finally went to the trouble of soloing some AVs, and made some videos for you all to enjoy. They are heavily edited, no one needs to watch me Blazing for an hour and a half.
I did Positron first, and wasn't taking care of disk space, so the end of the fight is missing, but I do have a screen shot of him down. This video gives a really good impression of the experience, with extended Blaze and Dominate sequences. I used Demonic to get the fight started.

http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/7...sitronsolo.jpg
Next was Ghost Widow who gave me a much harder time. I didn't bother with accolades or inspirations this time. This video's easier to see, and there's more action because she got loose from my hold several times. I was lucky, and she was kind, since Gloom and Soul Storm are both one shot kills for her. The other 80 minutes are pretty much just whittling her down with Dominate and Blaze.

I could go on at length about powers I used, mistakes I made, my build, all the failed attempts and the streakbreaker, but I'll only do that if you ask.
Enjoy!
