It's a fair question.
I can't give it a time-frame really... I have to have Mids walk me through the code's thought process before I can try and tackle any major updates... but within the next 2 weeks we should have an i14 compliant version spun out. And please for forgive the issues that I know I will have to start out, lol

I just need to add my appreciation for all the work Mids has put into making the Hero Designer. It was absolutely as useful and vital to my experience in enjoying the game as everyone else has described. And it can't be said enough just how well made the interface and overall design of the program was executed.
Thanks for all the hard work you've done, and it is great to know that there is someone who will be picking up the project who cares as much about it as the rest of us. So thank you in advance for that Steiner.
Does this mean that we have someone we can start PMing issues concerning Mids to on the US forums? I'm not a Titans Network or EU person, so I've never been able to address him concerning a few of the issues I've found with Mids' numbers.
Long time posters may remember I was once very anti-planner until Mids came along. Mids converted me to at least the ranks of the "what-if" crowd, especially with inventions, and not only me. Mids certainly has my appreciation, and I believe he's placed the project in good hands.

Yes I too will say thanks to Mids' program I as well have been using Mids for a while now and when I'm bored or thinking of a new character to do, I launch Mids and plan out the build. It's really fun to see/think how "uber" the character can/will be....
To be honest it's 'more fun' for me to do a new character in Mids than it is to do in the actual game....in the actual game I don't get all the nice purple-y IOs (or set IOs in general) :P Plus I can go all the way to lvl 50 in a matter of a minute!

I'd love a Mac version. Unfortunately Mids never had access to a Mac to do code work on so that shot that in the foot (unless the entire codebase was ported to Java or Silverlight or some other cross-platform language). I have tried running Mids under OS X via several emulators or compatibility layers (Cider, the program CoH uses, was one, but no dice there). My best workaround is having a small Windows XP virtual machine on my computer.

Let the board mods / Community Specialist know you are taking over (send them a PM) and see if there is anything they can do to help. I'm sure they understand how vital the program is to some of the community and would be willing to work with you on highlighting releases and other important info.
As with any other project, the community shouldn't expect you to run over here to tell us every little thing that takes place (certainly when we can get that info by going to the Titan Network forums), but in return, it would be nice to know about releases here on the main board.
I'm sure this will all work out in the end. Like I stated before, it's sad to see Mids move on, but you sound willing and able to carry on. Can't wait for the update!
Thank you Mids for all of your hard work on the Hero Planner. That single fan program has been one of the significant pillars that has held my interest in this game high above other MMOs. I really can't thank you enough.
Thank you Steiner for taking on the project. I was worried that if Mids ever left the project that there might not be anyone willing to continue updating the program as the Issues came by.
