Yep, you're right. I have completely abandoned my DM/SR with I14. He has a pure PvE build now. I13 made him viable...for just 1 issue. Then he was made worse than ever before in I14.

That's pretty lolzy when every other squishy gets 28% (reduced from 40% DR). 10% don't mean jack.
I've still had some success with my Bane, but it definately required a change in tactics from i12 play.

Well, by "design" I meant actually just programming stuff into the game. Not design as in creatively coming up with ideas to improve the game or anything like that. God forbid...we don't do that [censored] in CoH.

Defense based characters have no business in pvp anymore. So QFT.
My Widow use to be very good in PvP with soft cap defense + some, but now, I don't even try to pvp with her. Almost 1.5 billion infamy build is gone down the drain and now respresent 5 million SO build that can't perform for crap.

Your viable was the rest of us accomodating with more bonus accuracy than necessary. Does it really bother you that much to take a hit just a little more than once a minute?

It's ALOT more than "once per minute" bub. The problem with the dev's is they can't just gently "finess" something into "balance" they have to go either way to [censored] far with it to = OP or scale it way to [censored] far back which = Gimp. There is simply NO MIDDLE GROUND with these guys. For some reason they just don't know what that means...
I logged both accounts into the arena last night to test the defense my SS/EA Brute had now versus in Issue 13. The drop in defense was just crazy.
Aim and Build Up both were enough, when used individually, to bypass my defenses. I was using my Fire/Nrg Blaster who is Purpled out but even when I didnt use Aim/BU I still hit 3 out of 5 shots. I used Overload combined with all shields. Aim+BU let me hit often during the buff cycle.
Im not saying defense sets werent OP in the last issue but now they are back to being total crap.
I logged in my DM/SR Scrapper and was able to kill it in a single attack chain while Elude and all shields were running. In PvE melee defenses are beyond the cap w/o Elude but it didnt not stop my Blaster from landing 2 Bonesmashers and a Total Focus when Elude was running.
This flip flop back and forth of PvP is ruining this game for me to an extent I really dont enjoy anymore

lol same here. I generally just play with SO's, but in mid-I13 my quitting friend gave me a bunch of inf, and I spent it all on my Fort. Since you know...it was the best toon in the game. I understood that elusivity would be nerfed, but there's no way that the entire toon would be made into a joke, right?

With the way the dev's like to "flip-flop" with the pvp system, it's really just not very safe to IO out ANY toon, especially villainside. It's one heckuva gamble, that's for sure, one which I've utterly LOST a couple times now...very very VERY discouraging...
simply put devs for coh/cov have no idea about balance or pvp in general thats why its so craptastic they need someone that knows what they are doing
here's an idea. the dev's only observe on test server. they don't ask questions just get to see what is going on. so when it comes down to it, it is the player base that has esentially screwed themselves. while the dev's don't know much about PvP all they can take away to learn from is what they have seen. it doesn't help that they don't ask questions, but it also doesn't help that noone offers anything up to them on reasonings for what the saw.
when they see a bunch of people going for one or 2 toons and spiking them, changes are going to be made. when it comes to zones, it was not fun to be the single player comming out of a base and immediately getting killed by 5-8 people at a time. and the "go find more peeps and bring it" attitudes towards this don't help. what the dev's did in THEIR game was make it a little more viable for new players to survive and try to understand what is going on. by doing this they pissed off the people who took their troller/blaster/def spiker teams and overpowered 1-2 toons. OH WELL. crymoar plz.
as i stated in another thread, what they did was a little over kill for some AT's but left others that have now become OP'd. i agree that elusivity should not have been taken to the state that it has been but if you get a competent team together you can make up for it. adapt with the game and learn to use the changes to your advantage. not sit here whinning about stuff that won't go back to the no skill involved game.

Freaking right they were.
Castle even sat in on a Paragon Elite spike vs. evasion in the day. I think Renegades and OS offered to have them on their vent as well. The best we got was Lighthouse/EX having a meeting with PvPers on what was needed/what was going on.
It's like...we were playing a game by the rules they gave us with the best tools, but they didn't like us playing such a narrow subset of the game so they went KABLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOIEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! and now everything is vanilla.

rpvp heroes actually had a dev show up during the official start up for the new ladder.
we haven't heard from him since, afaik.
Would have made more sense to just read the pvp wish list and take a few ideas from that. Or actually learn what they were watching on test during the matches. I too didn't understand pvp ladders until i actually participated, got on vent, and it all made sense then. Also a side note, their are a whole heap of threads about our dislike of these changes and wanting i12 back and not one dev has had a thing to say. These threads have been accumulating in one form or another since i13's release.
Even the negative feedback thread thread they created went off the charts and yet no fixes, that's just wrong.
