I agree on the "fresh" powerset idea... we need something that does something unique... not just the same thing with a different flavor. Of course, this is easier said than done.

Although, a new MM set does sound promising. And I still need to make a toon using /dark miasma some time...

When I studied Arnis (or, more properly, blended Arnis-Aikido), we started with canes, knives, and empty hand in parallel. We practiced variations on each move for all three, since the techniques are very similar regardless of weapon type. We did put off long blade (mostly machete) practice until a bit later, though, once everyone had learned a bit more control.

I would very much like to see a powerset based on FMA, and made suggestions along those lines for Dual Blades back when the set was being designed. Some elements I'd like to see in it:

1) Damage debuffs. ("Defang the snake" was my teacher's mantra--disarm the enemy, or otherwise cripple his ability to hurt you.)
2) An extremely short-range teleport, coupled with a turning animation, to place you behind a target. This should be accompanied by moderate damage to the target and a large short-term defense buff.
3) Strikes with both ends of the weapons, possibly as the second of two damage ticks on certain moves. (Stike, then reverse and strike again with the other end.)
4) A move that applies a short, high-magnitude immobilize to both the target and the attacker and applies damage over time to the target--a grapple/lock effect. (Sadly, this might not be workable because of animation issues; I don't see how you could animate a grappling move that wouldn't look terrible against a lot of the critters in City.)
5) A mix of knockdown and stun effects on various powers.

Pole-arm~ Basically, make a two handed stick set with animations that make it applicable for a variety of weapon types. Such as a two handed shovel, bo-staff, spear, or even a scythe. I've really wanted a Scythe for a very long time. I think with this and dual pistols coming you, you'll have managed to cover all the weapon sets except perhaps nun-chucks.

Nun-Chucks- Really, we need nun-chucks.

Elemental Storm- I want a ranged blast set that uses a variety of different elemental attacks. I don't know how you'd balance it, I just waaaant it.

Water Blast- Because not every aquan based character I envision has the ability to freeze water. Again, don't care so much how it works, I just want it for concept reasons.

Elemental Summoning- 3 imps, 2 Frosty Snowmen, 1 Granite, all mastermind~

Just wanted to reiterate a few things said early in this thread:
1) It's too late for i15. If they haven't announced it yet, it's not going to be in i15, which is already in closed beta (or very close to it). You can still hope for i16...
2) Going Rogue is not i16. Issues (i numbers) are free expansions; Going Rogue is a commercial expansion like CoV. If the rumoured powersets (dual pistols and "demon summoning", whatever that is) are "real" and part of GR, they may not appear in the rest of the game (w/o the expansion, of course) until much later.

That said, staff weapons/polearms sounds very interesting.I have no idea what demon summoning would even be (mastermindy pets for controllers?), but i suspect it's one of these impossible signature hero/villain sets, not a real one available to players. Some of the other suggestions sounds like you're missing the point: defensive for archery (it's called trick arrow) and offensive for shield (there are several offensive weapon sets you can couple with shield). New flavours of existing weapon sets seem extravagant when there is still much in the game that is not working as it should.

How about a water power set? We cover earth, fire and air/storms now.
You could have :
a fast stream of water.
a thicker jet blast of water.
a fountain effect to raise 1 person off the ground so they are immobile.
a spray that fans out hitting multiple targets at ounce.
a down pour, water bubble or wall of water to reduce visability.
a heavey shower/hailstones to cause area damage like rain of fire.

These are just some quick ideas. The damage type and amounts can greatly vary. We use high pressure water to do alot, from just pushing an object to drilling in the ground or even for fine tool and die cutting.
Im sure the Devs could run with this and come up with some even better ideas.

A nother thought would be maybe a moddified version of "pets" with actual animals used by the controler/beastmaster type. As you advance, you get tougher, larger stronger animals. Starting out with simple one like a skunk who can use a "gas" attack to summing a tiger with deadly claws. Just a thought since we are wanting to try for new/different power sets....

Specifically, IIRC, the background on the energy blast animations is that they were originally geared for Water Blast.

A chain/whip set would be sweet. Course I've been saying that for 4 years now so...

Dual pistols as a complete set for blaster/defender/corruptors would be cool as well.

The ability to "create" your mm pets. Pick the power set you would like or a new one if it has to be. Then pick your pet from list in game or create like the AE option for creating villain groups. That'd be a fix all for everyone. You want clowns, I'd like snakes, also a set of thugs that didn't wear business suits or be tattooed out. Why must soldiers be soldiers...couldn't my "army" be a group of my red neck NRA buddies in hunting gear or a mess of grannies with guns.

Oh you make mm pets creatable and everybody will have a mm and everybody will have alot of fun.

MM set is just so freaking cool to be pidgeon holed into running zombies for dark set or ninja for ma open it up. Let us have the ability to skin them even at current scales. I hate the Uni and will never play ninja set because of his look alone. Now if I could change how he looks or soldiers or zombies or thugs I for one would buy a couple more slots to do that. (I realize robots are robots are robots) but the rest seems that you could tweak em if you wanted to...

Sorry gotta ranting there, would be happy with whip/chain set sigh.
