As for the names thats easy to fix. Whoever has a name used by others has a # put at the end of their name depending in what order their toon was made. No way to get around SGs though.
There are too many servers. Im willling to bet if they released server population numbers youd see theres room for improvement. I think the switching servers at will is a good idea, and would make for some interesting situations.
Like a "Whose the most powerful SG on all servers Contest" or etc... Right now two servers are overcrowded and the rest wasted.

Actually, as I discovered when I transferred a second copy of my character Isotope 167 over to Test - that's not how this game handles a "forced" second character with the same name if the name has a number in it.
Isotope 167 didn't become Isotope 1671. She became Isotope 168.

Information which, from your own replies in this thread, you've willfully chosen to remain ignorant of or dismiss.
63 people come in and post a "Merge the servers" thread in the next month? They'll get 63 copies of the same cut and paste reply so they have the same information, delivered neutrally and at no charge. Choose to ignore it or dismiss it, expect irritation.

You've got that half right. But your solution is to consolidate it down to three or four servers that are ALL overcrowded?
I repeat. No. NO HELL NO!
It is NOT the fault of the other servers that one or two are overcrowded. And there's no guarantee that if servers WERE consolidated, that we'd see any real movement of characters OFF those busy servers.
Again, if you desire a highly crowded server, your best bet is to move your characters off to said busy server. The people on the less populous servers LIKE it that way.
