WHITE QUEEN (3D Marvel stuff in Poser)
And here we see a walking contradiction.
I can say I'm a NASA Astronaut and I've been up to the international space station, therefore I am qualified to comment on all maters space and physics related. Or that I'm a unicorn breeder and I have an entire field full of unicorns back behind my house.
Just because you say it, doesn't mean it's true. Especially the way you're acting. And the fact that after 2 months on the forums and hundreds of posts in the PvP and open beta sections of the forum, you suddenly decide that you're an art critic.
If you are who you say you are and want people to respect you (or at least tolerate you at this rate), you better have some proof. Especially if you're touting yourself as the best professional artist drawer on the forum.
But I think we're all just wasting our time here.

Oh lol. Ok, keep dodging the question. I'm sure it's a flawless piece of art in your eyes.

EDIT: Also, for clarification, could you please explain what 'you're the only typing up paragraphs of response' means? Because, honestly, I can't be arsed to care if I can't understand your jibba-jabba, foo'.

Ahahahahahahhahahahah. You really don't understand what I was trying to say? Ahaha, oh wow, please, go back to elementary english. A gradeschool can figure it out given the context. I can see now you're typing loads of words to make yourself sound more intelligent than you really are.
I also like how you bring up other unrelated threads, just like when someone's at the end of their argument.
edit: before you ask me, I meant grade-schooler when I typed gradeschool. Ok?
[/ QUOTE ]
Let's break it down, then.
'You're the' = You are the only. Only what? I'm the only typing up paragraphs? Why does that make any sense? Even in the context it seems rather poorly worded and constructed - I'm not sure what you're trying to get at.
But, hey, keep on being insulting and negative if that's what makes you feel better. Great job being constructive and helpful. You're just furthering my point that you've no idea what you're doing or how to be objective about it, in the end. :3

Un if you don't agree with me, please give your opinion on why you think it's fine, noone says anything to deny what I'm saying (well except for that one guy who says it's baseless). As I said in an earlier post. You take it if you want.
Look this is just a forum for sharing artwork. We just come here to view fanart. Doug never asked for nor needed your unsolicited critique. You seem to just want to puff up your own ego by pretending to be some sort of professional artist (or "art drawer" as you put it). kthnkbai

Yeah, been a fan of his for a long time as well.
There were a few areas that didn't quite look right in the background to me, but I totally agree with the rest of the thread that one poster isn't being constructive. Instead that person is coming across as self-important and delusional.

Are you serious? Guys picking at how I critique telling me how to be helpful? Did you say anything about the artwork apart from "it's good" in this thread at all? It doesn't even matter how I said anything, the end goal is he might get better if he listens to what I have to say, he definitely won't if he listens to you. Is that simple enough for you to understand?
But please come up with another witty remark completely unrelated to the discussion.

When you post it on a public forum, isn't it implied you want feedback? Maybe you should write "only postive feedback" next time then.

But it's so hard to be witty on demand.
Still, I have to wonder why you think your opinion is so much better then anyone else's. Granted, I wasn't necessarily providing a critique, so much as I was an evaluation of what I actually found appealing about it - a distinction I am very careful to make in threads where critique is not specifically requested.
An evaluation can be a critique, and a critique may be a form of evaluation, but not every evaluation need be a critique, and not every critique needs to specifically be negative. Or was that one a bit too complex for you?
You do seem to respond negatively to people using big terms.
I was also not aware that I was attempting to improve Doug's work at all - I have to say, that would be entirely presumptuous of me, considering he's clearly got things up to a level that he's personally happy with, and that he can make a living off of. I don't go about trying to improve happy people. I try to avoid fixing things that I don't feel are broken.
Oh, wait. Was that witty enough for you? Or should I try harder?
:/ If I do, could you manage to be slightly more entertaining? This is getting boring and repetitive.

You didn't visit either links I set up. A pity. the problem (to me) isn't that you criticized hes work, its how you criticized it.
LOCKED...ohhh that's right. im not a moderator... yet..
Looks cool. I don't know much about Poser, but it looked like a digital painting to me. The one element of the background that stood out as "odd" to me was the circle around the X. It looks somewhat pointed near the top. Perhaps it's the angle, but it looks "wrong".
The idea in critiquing someone's artwork is to tell them that something doesn't look right, and then explain to them how to fix it.
Pointlessly bashing a piece, or parts of a piece, is not helpful to the artist, and it's likely to make people mad. For example, and this is not commenting on DJ's artwork at all, just an example, saying "the hands aren't drawn well" isn't helpful, but "the hands are drawn incorrectly in such and such particular way, and you can fix it by doing such and such" is helpful.
Also, DJ did not request any form of critique, but I expect people wouldn't mind as much if you were more constructive.
Once again, great artwork.

I respond negatively to people using big terms to pad their overwise flimsy arguments.
And in my first post I said it looks good, but the background is bad. And I stand by it.
Oh yeah one more thing, you know what evaluate means right? It means to judge something, and you judge something by weighing the good aspect with the bad. Please actually undertand the "big" words you type before using them. Kthx.

Uh...ok? Don't know what that has to do with anything but ok.
That's a fantastic piece. At a first quick glance it almost looks like a photo.
I do somewhat agree with Foo about the face. Emma's always struck me as patrician and the current face has a down-home quality to it. That really doesn't detract from the piece though.

Very nice work man. Nice palette, nice tones.
For what it's worth, might I suggest killing the red in the "X" on her broach and maybe pumping it up a tiny bit on her lips to help center the focus on her face. That blue control panel keeps wanting to pull my eyes down there. With the cool palette you've got going, a lone bit of hot red on the lips might make a heck of a focal point.

Very nice piece.

You don't turn to anyone, you post your art like he's doing right now, ask for feedback and pickout which critiques you think are valid. If you think everything I said is because of my untrained eyes or whatever or your stuff is on par with what's in the industry right now, don't take any critiques, just go ahead and send it to Marvel and Pixar.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just so we are all clear here ... that thread where you offered people to critique their stuff ... is dead in the water ... no one ever posted a piece there. That should be a hint ! If you don't get it ... let me know ... I will draw it out and you can critique that.

For those that don't understand constructive criticism ... the above comment is how it is done.
As to the topic ... if we are into giving opinions (even though I am just a shmo in this department) I really like the hip area and the texture on the boots. The ripples make for a nice effect. The light on her left knee shows off the fabric of the boot beautifully.
As for the whole face discussion, I do have to say that it caught my eye and took me a sec to accept it. It did seem too roundish. As if it was more seductress than a cold, intelligent woman (not that you can't have a roundish face and be intelligent but ... anyway!)
As for the background well ... there seems to be a little point on the circle of the X symbol right where the light hits. Could be a lighting effect but, if not ... it does draw my eye.
As for the red X well ... I really don't mind having my eyes drawn there soooooo ... fine by me.

I also love all the fabric ripples. Even the ones in the crooks of her elbows... its always teeny things like that that really draw me into a piece. That and I just love fabrics all folded and wrinkled and well... flowing ^.^;;
As far as the face.... I thiiiink I'm on the side of it not quite striking me as Emma Frost.
