Can Tickets replace Merits?

Say I want to collect a full set of Decimation - can I do that by playing player-generated content, collecting tickets, and taking some Bronze/Silver/Gold rolls (and getting lucky or being patient)?

Or are there some IOs (apart from the purples) that you simply cannot get without spending Merits?

Technically, you could always turn your tickets into invention salvage or gold recipe rolls and sell them on the player market or trade them for the specific recipes you're looking for even if they're not available.

So, to put it simply, even if a specific recipe doesn't drop from the MA ticket reward system you could still effectively farm it exclusively through MA.

Sorry for the roundabout answer, but hopefully it will be of some help.

Every recipe except purples and the PvP IOs are available with tickets if you get lucky on your rolls.

So if I wanted a complete set of Decimation:
* Decimation: Accuracy/Damage,
* Decimation: Damage/Endurance,
* Decimation: Damage/Recharge,
* Decimation: Accuracy/Endurance/Recharge,
* Decimation: Accuracy/Damage/Recharge, and
* Decimation: Chance for Buildup Proc:

Which of those can be awarded on a Bronze Roll, which can be awarded on a Silver, and which on a Gold? (those are the only kinds of IO recipe rolls at the ticket guy, right?)

(PS. I know I could buy some of these on the market perhaps - would still like to know the answer.)

EDIT: And what are PVP IOs btw?

[/ QUOTE ]There is a page on paragon wiki that tells what pool each recipe is in. Pool A uncommon and rare is bronze, pool a rare and pool b are silver, and pool c and d are gold. Just look it up from that. Pvp IOs are ios dropped for killing other players.

rumor has it you can only get a pvp io is from beating me, thus no one will ever be awarded any. that is until the devs change the way they drop and allow them to come from defeating other ppl as well.

Thanks, awesome help!

So it would appear that we can now have a way that doesn't involve grinding merits or a lucky break on the still mostly dead market to complete our sets.

Question: With the average rate of ticket drops, the average rate of recipe drops, and the knowledge that if I get a recipe I don't want I may be able to trade it to someone for what I do want - does this make it any faster to complete sets by using tickets? With the newly nerfed Merits completing a set is dog slow compared to what it was pre-I13.

Weren't merits introduced in I13 IIRC? Pre then, you could collect IO sets much faster.

Yep i13, merits pretty much killed the market by thinning out supply. As our market supply is dictated by things being sold that the owner doesn't want. Whether more buy rolls or save for one recipe is unknown. But it was enough to short supply on both factions of the game.

Having TF/Trial recipes now drop from bosses is an attempt from the devs to try to recovery the current market state.

IMO it would have been better to add a system that randomly added recipes to the market. It would post list price of an averaged between the last 5 items sold. Being that this system would be random it would be difficult for players to abuse.

The drop pools are very large. You will have to grind a lot of tickets to put together a specific set by random rolling. Looking at how many tickets I've earned so far, and doing a rough calculation of the number of bronze rolls I've done, I'd guess I've done somewhere around 250 bronze rolls so far. Out of those I've maybe got one full set of Thunderstrike, and less than half a set of Crushing Impact.

What you can do is sell the rolls you don't want and use the inf to buy what you do. I'd guess you'll be seeing more availability on the market with all the ticket farming and recipe rolling going on.

insane. all i can say about this. why the hell did they even bother? what was the friggin point? this deserves a barfy bah!

LOL mate. As much as people hate it they "HAD" to nerf any outliers on merits because of the way the system is setup.

However, I think that introducing another avenue via tickets and changing the weight of drops was a good move. The best way to leverage the lewt in this game is to get some of all the various forms. It adds to the flexibility you have when you go to set IO your toon.

Why did they bother? What was the point? They brought a mission that was giving too much reward into line with the others, so that people get uniform rewards no matter what mission they do. How is this insane?

Emberblast: 50 Fire/Fire blaster
Jessie Inferno: 50 Fire/SD scrapper

If it were just about equalization, that could've also been accomplished by raising the merit rewards on all other arcs. So it wasn't just about equalization, it was about reduction as well.

I'm a solo creature that just wanted to slot some rare IO's and whatnot. If I wanted to get the number of merits necessary to slot the IO's I had my sights set on, I would be forced to team on many TF's and that is something my schedule simply wont allow. The last 3 contact arcs I have completed rewarded me with 0 merits. /buged

its been frustrating. WAI?

For the people who solo and play odd hours, tickets will out do merits, but for the people who make 150 merits a day on several toons, merits will still be a viable source.

So is there a list of which rare As are bronze or silver?

A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!

I'm fairly certain, although not 100% sure, that all Rare As are in both Bronze and silver. Rare As are rolled 12.5% of the time in Bronze and 60% of the time in Silver.

Wait a minute -- are you talking about the change in merit rewards to the Kheldian mission that used to give 29 merits?

I wouldn't consider that "newly nerfed" -- that's been changed for a good while.

The "new" farming (badge) mission that gave 4 merits, recently reduced to giving 2.

It's pretty funny to call an adjustment to something that was OBVIOUSLY over-rewarding a 'nerf'.

Heh! If Negotiator mission was over-rewarding with 4 Merits per 10 minutes then what to think about MA missions that reward 4000 tickets per 15 minutes?

As things are right now, you get ALOT more mileage with Tickets than with Merits. I doubt it was intended but that is how it is right now.

I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.
