  1. LCD will work fine also. Just use the DPI Setting (Windows 200/XP) or DPI Scaling (Windows Vista/7), do Custom and put it at 200%. That should keep it crisp, while making everything easier to see/read.

    To change DPI Setting:

Right-click on a blank spot on the desktop and choose Properties, click the Settings tab, and then the Advanced button. Set the DPI Setting to Custom and type 200 in the box (you can set it to other percentages, but keeping it in multiples of 2 will produce the sharpest result).

    To Chage DPI Scaling:

Right-click on a blank spot on the desktop and choose Personalize, click the Adjust font size (DPI). Choose whatever size looks good (I believe Vista/7 does FSAA natively, so any percentage should work).

When Merits were introduced, I was certain it would cause Purple prices to rise, so I bought a ton. I did miss the AE effect (was too busy figuring out how to maximize ticket earnings), but still had my stash from pre-i13 buying.

Now, I fully expect Purple prices to drop, especially since I plan on moving my farming from AE to Ouro/TF's. Thus, as of two days ago, my stash of 60 some Purples went onto the market.

When I get home, I may post pics of what I paid for them, and what they sell at, just to tease the OP.

Just wanted to bring extra attention to the SET part, since SET IO's sell for the most, during a respec.

Back when I was first starting out with the markets (and had all of 20 million to my name), I bought a ton of cheap set IO's (hello, Lethargic Repose!), made new characters, leveled them to 3, and then used up Vet respecs to make 3-4 million each time (after expenses). It was good for a bit, but by time I made 100 million off it, I was thoroughly bored (and had enough capital) and moved onto other things.

As the OP says, this is great for poor/starting out players. Or people with lots of patience (one of my SG mates still does it, even though he has billions of inf).
  6. Try going into Data > Select Instance and force it to your game instance. I haven't had the online offline issue, that I am aware of, but I have had it stop recording most data (still recorded xp, inf, and debt though) and doing the above fixed that.

    What's good?

Welcome back Dante. Hope you have fun. You may see me online, but probably not on Guardian much.

Black Market / Wentworth's Consignment House

    * Characters (on active accounts) who have inventories, bids or items for sale in the Black Market or in Wentworth's Consignment House will no longer have to log into the game within 60 days to avoid item or influence/infamy expiration.
  11. Windows 7 is in open beta right now, so you can try it before you buy it.

Make sure you have/get a 64-bit processor (CPU), before putting extra RAM in your computer, or it won't make any difference.
  12. Unless you are running Vista 64-bit, or XP 64-bit (which cannot be bought retail), your operating system is limiting your RAM.

32-bit OSes can only access 4GB of memory at a time. However, that 4GB includes BIOS (motherboard and add-in cards), video RAM, sound RAM, and a few other things, leaving you with 3-3.5GB for system RAM.
  13. Heroside I could maybe understand the criticism. However, villainside, I have had things sit unsold for weeks, but when I posted about them, most sold within a day or two.
  14. Base salvage has some cool (and gross) stuff. It is a shame they have deprecated it.
  15. Hope they have fun marketing to Habib Al Zwanli, in Tunisia.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind being Tony's valet... so long as he wasn't testing suit upgrades while I parked.

    DXP Price Spike

If it was the one where everyone and their dog was in RWZ, then it was because of the MASSIVE PLing that the 'Welcome to the Vanguard' Ouro arc allowed.

    Lost Passwords

I forgot my password. What can I do?

If you forget your password, you can click on the 'Forgotten Your Password' link. This will appear on any page that requires you to fill in your password.

This link brings up a page where you should enter your registered email address. An email will be sent to that address shortly, with instructions for resetting your password.

Since passwords are encrypted, there is no way to resend your original password. This option provides you with the ability to reset your password.

You must be able to receive emails to your registered email address for this to work. You may need to check your spam filters and folder if you do not see this email in a few minutes.
If that does not work, either click on 'Contact Us' and send a message to the administrator, use your husband's account to send a message to one of the Community Reps (Avatea, Moderator 08, Niviene, etc), or login to the NCSoft support page and file a support request.

  19. Perfect Pain pretty much sums up what I was going to say.

Also, I will add: I have 4 main villain toons (ones that I will fully IO, purples and PvP IO's included). 2 already are fully purpled and 1 is almost fully PvP IO'd. Of the remaining 2, 1 i s IO'd minus purples and PvP's. That leaves 1 toon to put Uncommons and Rares on, 2 toons to put Ultra Rares on, and 3 to put PvP's on.

Every day that I farm, I get around 6-10 -KB IO's, 2-4 Res/Def, and 1-2 +Regeneration (to name the most desired ones). Now, TonyV, how many of those do you think I am/can use and how many are going to the market? (Hint: 2 of those are Uniques, and I only have 1 toon that MIGHT need them but does not have them slotted yet).

With the kind of money I can make selling all those extra drops, I can afford to buy purples for 300 million (Note: I am a mizer and generally pay much less). I know there are people that can afford to pay much much more, as I only play on the weekends (and not all of them, anymore).
  20. Also, remember you can only get 5 of a given bonus; Large Recharge Speed Increase, in this case.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Prices shot up to double (or more) of what they were long before AE, at around the time of merits, actually. Though AE seems to have doubled it again.

    [/ QUOTE ]

When they announced that Purples would not be available via Merits, I knew prices would hike, and bought enough to outfit 3-5 characters. By time AE came around, I was not paying much attention to the game, or I would have bought more again.

Merits effectively put price caps on recipes, though only the most expensive would likely hit it (LotG +recharge, Numina +rec/+regen, Miracle +rec, etc) and I figured they would actually drop a bit in price. I also figured the middle class stuff (5m-20m) would increase in price, due to people buying the high end stuff straight up, instead of random rolling. I lost most interest in the Market's shortly thereafter, and did not check to see whether or by how much that actually happened.

Purples however, were not subject to the inf/merit ratio, and thus their prices would (and did) float independently of the Pool C/D prices.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
I currently have 3 bids outstanding for an Armageddon triple and 2 Apocalypse triples. Each bid is for slightly over 100mil, and have been sitting for a month. I WANT those recipes, but considering the amount of work it takes me to make 100mil, I believe they are not worth more than that. Yet people are paying 200-500mil redside for these. I guess they want it more NAO than I do, and have more spare time to make that inf.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or they are extremely efficient. Back when I played the markets (almost a year ago now), flipping enhancements and salvage (and occasionally doing the buy-craft-sell circuit), I could make 100 to 200 million a week (spread among 7 characters), for 20-35 minutes per day of actual time invested.

Likewise, I know some people (TopDoc, namely) that can make 30+ million an hour from farming. 1 hour a day would make them around a billion a month. Of course, most of TopDoc's income came/comes from selling the purple fruits of his farming.

Which begs the question: Why are more people not farming purples? The money is obviously there, and I am sure plenty of people are willing (just look at the massive AE farming that brought down the prices of -KB IO's and rare salvage). Is it the barriers to entry? Since people can not easily customize what mobs to farm, need "padders"/"fillers" to spawn for large groups, and need a level 50 character built for quick/massive AoE and survival. Is it the lack of knowledge? How to farm, what maps and enemy types produce well, what builds are good for farming, and/or how to reset missions for repeat use. Or is it something more fundamental? Boredom, stigma, fear, whatever.

With enough farming, supply will rise to where the farmer's start undercutting each other's prices, in order to get the next sale. The price will drop until the demand overlaps supply again, creating a new equilibrium. Until then, or until the Dev's change the drop rate or eligibility requirements, prices will stay high and probably even go higher.
