In the current system, no one can demote someone who is at their same level, and there is no self demotion.

Adding in a "sole" Superleader to the SG system allows for leadership disputes to be solved within the SG themselves, as there is now a level that can demote the current "leader" level. If the Superleader no longer wants to be Superleader, they just need to promote someone else to Superleader, and they will demote themselves in the process.

Groups DO have to work it amongst themselves of Leaders who might log in to get it first. If the person that is "supposed" to get it does not get the 6th rank, he/she can promote someone to it.

But...

... and I did not see this in any of the commentary:

does offline promotion work yet?

Sometimes, I impress my boss. Sometimes, I impress myself. The rest of the time, I scare people. I can live with that.

Funny, I read several times that the person being promoted by the SuperLeader had to be online.

[ QUOTE ]
Steps to Transfer Leadership:

If a Super Leader needs to transfer leadership, they can promote any online leader to the super leader permission.

The procedure works just like a normal promotion, except a message box will ask to verify the change in leadership.

Here are the exact steps:

The Super Leader selects the appropriate Leader in the Super Group window.

The targeted Leader must be on-line.

Click Promote

A message box pops up, asking if you want to promote this character to Super Leader:

Click Yes

The new character becomes Super leader, and the old Super Leader becomes a normal Leader

Wouldn't this have been solved by simply putting in a prompt for promoting to the same level as the person promoting? An ounce of prevention in this case would have been worth this pound of "cure".

Is there a mechanism so that if someone in this new rank goes on a booting spree that the GMs will be notified and step in? Will CS refer people back to rogue super leaders saying that its hands are tied because they didn't break any game rules? Will CS restore these groups or will the people being booted have any recourse other than finding a new group?

So far there has been no official answer to these questions.

[/ QUOTE ]I dont know but to me the most logical thing would have just been to add self demotion, and promotion of offline members. That would have solved this problem as well as a few others. You guys really need to work on that.

There is neither offline promotion nor offline demotion installed.

Nor is there any sort of offline SG invite or SG request-to-join.

[/ QUOTE ]

And none such has been advertised, either.

What happens when someone wants to step down, though? You shouldn't have to quit and SG and be re-invited in order to step down from a leadership position.

I would think yes - a booting spree would be obvious griefing to me, if everyone had been logging in regularly.

You mean last. The game won't care who is the first leader to log back in once i14 goes live.

Stop playing the character for 15 days. One of my groups has done this. Don't get me wrong, a self-demotion would be wonderful, had they actually followed through on a working self-demotion system. Instead we have a half-baked version.

It only applies to the new rank, not all ranks.

Not quite what I was asking. I was asking if the GMs were automatically notified so that players wouldn't have to file separate /petitions.

At least one person would have to file the petition.

It would be nice to have an self-demote, but maybe their system won't play nice with it. *shrug*

Unless you mean the GM call - as to that, I can think of no situation which auto-generates a petition without the player starting it.

And as for using the auto-demote to self-demote, I also should not be forced to NOT play a character.

What makes you think the GM's will do anything? The sg belongs to the SL. Please refer any questions to your new sl overlord.

Booting someone from a sg has never been griefing.

That is exactly what I meant, and it should have come as part of this new rank. Customer Service wants a tool to make their lives easier, fine. They should take the responsibility for any abuse of this tool as well. That means they should have the tools to monitor someone abusing this new rank.

Every rank should be able to self-demote, not just leaders.

How is it possible you are still asking this????
That would ONLY prevent those cases where the initial promotion was accidental and would do nothing in the case of leadership disputes when the promotions were very much intentional in the past but need to be adjusted in the present.

While I understand some of your concerns over the new role, it is unfathomable to me that you still believe a simple prompt would prevent anything this is intended to cure.

I wouldn't be against it, but why should that be in? Every rank can be demoted in the new system, why does it need to be self-demotion?

Because I don't believe that is the primary cause of disputes. I would think it is the accidentally promoted that cause the majority of the problems.

[/ QUOTE ]
It is intended to cure Customer Service getting involved in internal group disputes, and to correct a bug where a character that has been off-line longer than the auto-demotion period would sometimes be selected. I do not see it curing what you think it cures.

it says to contact support to settle problems...

My main villain had gone mostly inactive and my VG mostly disbanded, but our base has... everything. We were quite a powerful VG when we were active. However, while I was inactive it "auto-demoted" me and the last remaining somewhat active person in the SG has been in the "leadership" spot ever since. I NEVER see him online when I'm online, it seems he logs in once a day to maintain his leadership status, but doesn't do anything with the group. No recruiting, no events, he doesn't even change the "Message of the day". The base is basically his personal suit and there's nothing I can do about it. I have sent him multiple emails requesting I be re-promoted back to the "leader" position now that I have time to invest in the VG but I never get a reply, and I dont want to start a new VG because I worked SO HARD on the base and VG that currently exists. My join date and prestige earned in the VG far exceeds his, and I am the rightful leader of the VG. I dont have his global name so I can't messege him that way. I dont think he would be opposed to granting me "leadership status" again, nor have an issue with me being the "super leader" (I dont think). More then anything it's just a matter of us NEVER being online at the same time, and it has been this way for months.

Is this the kind of thing I would contact support on?

Find his name in your VG list, click it and from the pull-down, choose "Add Note". At the top of the window that pops up it will show his global name.

That aside, if you still can't get a hold of him or he's flat out refusing to re-promote you, you can try going through CS, but no promises that they can do anything in this case.

Why dont you put in a VOTE system to elect the super leader? Give the current leaders a vote each. Tied voting means no super leader.

I mean, we are all about democracy right? :P

This way any SG politics would not affect customer service - CS would just have to worry about if the voting system works or not.

Upsen.

understannding the sg super leader is confusing, if reading right anyone can get highest rank possible, is thats true any one can get the highest rank there is, promte, demote, base edit and such for!!!!

but what if you dont want a certain person to have all the power, like inacitve people, etc.
