Dev's Choice: Becoming the Chosen One!
You can have more than one arc Dev Choiced, if they choose.
Dec out.

I'm curious if only one arc per global will be eligibal for Dev's Choice. I'm hoping this is the case, so that more people have a chance to achieve this badge. Instead of the same people over and over. Anyone know? I assume not, and that any arc you make will be eligible, just hoping that once your global has the badge the Dev's will move on to rewarded those that do not have it yet.
[/ QUOTE ]
The chances that one person will end up getting more than one Dev's Choice is ridiculously low, but if someone manages to write 12 or 15 arcs that are good enough to get in there, then more power to them.
Them getting a slot isn't taking one away from someone else. This isn't a zero sum game.
Still waiting on follow up as to whether mine was actually a Dev's Choice and I just missed the contact somehow, or if I was awarded the badge by some bizarre bug.
Yeah, where IS dis thread to post in? :P

Good information, and not to rain on anyone's parade, but what happens if an upcoming patch/nerf/whatever BREAKS a DC arc?
How does one fix that?
[/ QUOTE ]
You don't have to. Since this kept happening on test, the decision came to be that when a dev-choiced arc was locked into the system, all of it would be. In other words, it is no longer affected by any changes, even things that would've made it invalid when it was a normal arc.

Thats kinda dangerous what if there's a backwards exploitable bug? :P Something they never thought of prior to locking it? o.@

Have there been any new Dev's Choice arcs since beta?

Sure it does. It's a new Dev Choice. Why wouldn't it?

Is the Developer's Choice limited to arcs with multiple missions or can single, stand-alone missions qualify?

It wasn't published during the first week of Issue 14 going live. It was published the first day of the 2nd week of Issue 14 going live.
The Once and Future King wasnt bad either. I just finished it.
But once again, the Ally you get (Blue Steel) is crazy strong. He made the missions easy.
Also, the 4th mission has a crazy amount of glowies that you HAVE to check. It made me go GRRRR
Seems like there has really been a slow down of DC awards and only one hall of famer (ittermittently). Also, it seems that they do not like short arcs at all.

<ul type="square">[*]And finally there will be a forum thread called Devs Choice: For Your Consideration where players can post arcs they think should be considered for Devs Choice. The two guidelines being, you cant promote your own arc (thatll likely happen in some other forum somewhere else) and you cant disagree with anyone elses suggestion (again, thatll happen in some other thread).
[/ QUOTE ]
Not everyone comes to the forums. The best place for this sort of thing should be in the MA interface itself. I'd suggest the following changes for comments:
<ul type="square">[*]Have user comments on arcs attached to the arc itself in the MA, rather than sending a tell to the author. That way they won't get lost in the general spam, and they will persist past the current session.[*]Allow other users to see the user comments on arcs.[*]Allow the author to delete comments on the arc.[*]In the comment dialog have a flag that indicates the player thinks the arc should be considered for dev's choice.
When publishing an arc the following additional flags should be settable:
<ul type="square">[*]The arc is "ready for prime time", that is, it has been completely vetted by the author and is intended for general consumption. Ideally, that's what publishing an arc should mean. But that's not how it's playing out -- people have to publish an arc to allow other people to test it in their absence. Many authors also create arcs that are just tests to see how the publishing works, or arcs intended for their own use, or their SG's, etc.[*]The author wants the arc to be considered for Dev's Choice and gives explicit approval for it to taken as such. This would eliminate the need for trying to get hold of an author to make sure they actually want their arc to be taken.
Finally, the devs should prepare a "technical and mechanical" standards document for arcs that explicitly states the minimum standards for an arc to be considered for dev's choice. For example:
<ul type="square">[*]Properly phrased singular and plural forms for mission details must always be presented.[*]The presence of AVs must always be mentioned in the arc description, and in each mission introduction where they occur.[*]Any time limit must be mentioned in the mission introduction.[*]And so on....
I'd like to know how it compares. Both solo and on teams.
Has there ever been a one mission dev fav?
I have a one mission story, not a farm that
never gets any votes it seems, course I only
have mentioned it to a few players.
arc 101799 if any are intersted

I feel your pain. Mine is only 2 missions, but I guess since the first one is pretty extensive it lists out as "long"
I didn't realize until recently that the patch screwed up all arcs and they had to be republished. That is why I have likely not had any players. I guess its a draw back of avoiding the infighting I hear about on the forums.

I will definitively give it a try...
Okay, so i15 is on our heels, and we have yet to have new dev choice in over a month.
I have a a couple arcs both are 4 star, one sitting at 999+ while the other is just over 100. I got the Master Builder badge. I'm not necessarily expecting a Dev Choice or Hall of Fame for my stuff, but I don't view my arcs to be as good as many others out there.
Sad thing is, of the bunch of Dev Choice content that I've played, I wasn't at all impressed. I've played quite a bit of AE content that were much better.
How often is Dev Choice content going to be selected? I'd rather not be in a "Devs Choice: For Your Consideration" thread, because it is then no longer 'Dev's Choice' but 'Players Choice' instead.
It would be nice to see this become more systematical. Something to the effect of "If an arc has X number of votes over Y average rating, the arc is quickly reviewed for exploits and sent to Hall of Fame."

What I wish they would do is hire 10 college interns (preferrably English Lit. Majors ) and let them go to town as arc review filters.
Let them weed out the obvious farms, trash arcs, etc., then submit the really good ones to the Devs for review. No, this wouldnt be enough to go through 200k arcs, but definitely an improvement over the devs "We'll look at arcs that generate buzz" approach.
Might as well say "We'll look at arcs of people who belong to large SGs whose members can hype it up...."

Fixed..
... but seriously. I'd rather people who review games and game content then uninterested and underpaid Eng-Lit Majors.
