Dr Robert's Merit Price Index.

Dr Robert has created spreadsheets to track market prices and merit prices of Task Force and Trial Recipes. The spreadsheets currently do not include other options. Some players have volunteered to help Dr Robert collect the data. The #s will be updated whenever possible.

PPM = Price Per Merit. One can understand this as "this is how much Inf I can get for every merit I have." Average means something. You should look up what average means. The format of the spreadsheets is constantly being updated to more accurately describe the data and history of the data. This data is constantly changing and always out of date.

Dr Robert is a Dr. That means you should trust him.

*EDIT**************
How to Help

If you want to help please send me a PM with the price data. Please collect all the data on a single day. Please clearly label which side you have collected the data. You can collect all the data heroside, villainside or both. Please include every IO included on the spreadsheet. Also include the date and the day of the week. I will do my best to include your updates with the data. I cannot promise that I will do so. I may disregard your data if its in the improper format or if I think the numbers are fuzzy or innaccurate. The #s listed are "my best guess at Equilibrium Price." That is NOT last 5 average. "My best guess of Equilibrium Price" is a subjective human estimation that can't really be defined systematically. Likely, if I don't include your data its simply because I'm lazy. Don't take it personally if I don't include your data. I appreciate all the help I can get. As does Dr Robert. He's a Dr. You can trust Drs. I'm just lazy.

Two Excellent Formats I can think to use to PM me the data:
A) Make a google account. Make a spreadsheet. Copy the format. Type in your numbers. If you just do the "F" column and list lots and lots of prices thats good enough. Just leave a little gap between the 100 Pool Cs (Task Force) and the 10 or so Ds (Trials). If you want to get all fancy and make a full copy thats cool too. Don't worry about calculating the PPM. The spreadsheets I have can do that easily/quickly. I just want column F. Make sure to include the date, side, day of the week, etc. Make sure your column F is in the same order as my column F. You don't need to label the #s if its in the right order.

B) Send me a PM on the boards with the prices. Write the date, day of the week, side etc. Write all the pricess down in a big column. You don't need to label them. Just keep them in the same order as the original spreadsheet.

Example
Thursday. October 56th. Greenside.

The big 3 are priced
Miracle 20 - 421
LotG 25 - 24123
Numina 30 - 5412

Task Force
312
412
2141
5123
...(90 or so later)
124

Trial
5123
12
... (7 later)
131

I tested updating the spreadsheets. If you can see the word "NOOODLES" in the upper left of the Heroside Spreadsheet it is updated automagically.

Why is the LoTG: 7.5% so expensive for the random roll compared to the out right buy?

It's telling you that it's cheaper to buy it with merits. The market price of the item is above its cost in merits times the average price of a merit.

American Steele: 50 BS/Inv
Nightfall: 50 DDD
Sable Slayer: 50 DM/Rgn
Fortune's Shadow: 50 Dark/Psi
WinterStrike: 47 Ice/Dev
Quantum Well: 43 Inv/EM

All prices are sale prices. That's saying that if you purchased a LotG for 200 merits, then put it up for auction, you could expect x amount of profit / merit.

On the other hand, if you purchased a random roll for 20 merits and were lucky enough to get a LotG for your trouble, then you could expect y amount of profit / merit (where y = roughly 10x, depending on the level of the 2 LotG's).

Not exactly. The PPM(Buy) and PPM(Roll) columns calculate how much profit could be made by purchasing an item directly vs recieving it via random roll. In the case of the LotG, it's just telling you that getting "lucky" via the random roll is 10 times more profitable than purchasing the item directly (no surprise, since the item cost is 10 times the random roll price).

I used the PPM(Roll) column to calculate the avarages at the top, and the PPM(Buy) column to double check that purchasing a specific level 50 IO was / was not more profitable than taking the random roll. Having both columns keeps the Overview honest.

In the 'Big 3' section, the PPM value is assumed to be PPM(Buy). This reflects the fact that you can purchase these recipes directly at their minimum level, where they are generally more valuable than their level 50 counterparts.

Because when you look at it from a distance, the recharge bonus isn't half bad, and so the merit prices are roughly in line with other sets that give similar bonuses. Merit prices are based on the set's value in the abstract, not how much value actual players assign to the set.

"Average" certainly means something. I may mean to convey what "averages" means by utilizing clever language but sometimes my meaning is lost. A mean person may attempt to explaining the meaning of "average" in a way that means something but they might fall short. I will leave meaning to mean something up to you guys.

I updated villain side today. I didn't do hero side. I'm not sure when we'll get around to doing hero side.

I did the update close to 2x xp weekend on purpose. I wanted to see how much it had gone up (quite a bit), and find out how long it takes to go back down. I'll try to check it again in mid February and see where things stand.
