The image I have in my head is of a stodgy old Midnighter rolling a big crate out in front of the Freedom Phalanx. The lettering on the crate reads, The Arc of the Covenant. With a smile, the Midnighter asks the group of heroes, You gentlemen think you could put this dusty old thing to use?

Rather than retreating further back into their libraries, they are stepping out of the shadows and throwing their pipes and monocles into the fight against the Rikti.

I think I'm gonna love these arcs.

OK, "magic" has never been a big draw for me in comics and the sort, but this?
This sounds really cool.
CAN'T. WAIT.
Head of TRICK, the all Trick Arrow and Traps SG
Part of the Repeat Offenders
Still waiting for his Official BackAlleyBrawler No-Prize
Read it earlier Looks pretty cool. Not a lot of meat and potatoes in the article, but what's there looks appetizing.
And suddenly I'm hungry, feh...
So is Cimerora going to be in this issue? I'm assuming this zone(?) is part of the Midnight Squad story.
Those story arcs sound really fun. And I like the idea of contextual dialogue.
Magic has always been featured in comics. Even Heroes that apparently had nothing to do with Magic have run into it. Refer to Spider-Woman and her fued with Morgan LeFey.
Several Prime Heroes in Comics are entirely magical in origin, e.g. Dr. Strange and Dr. Fate. Even Captain Marvel and the Marvel Family have magic origins.
but enough of that... the more I hear about all this Midnight Squad stuff the more I can't wait to get into it.

Yessir, it's the Roman-themed zone. Link!
The screenshots are sexy, like hardcore sexy ^_^
Being able to decide the path of certain missions seems neat too

"reading ur posts is like reading a stop sign, its red oddly shaped and makes me come to a complete stop...then i go" ~anon rep; thank you
More and more this Contextual Dialog sounds more and more like an excellent new tool that will greatly benefit the depth of the game - can't wait to see its full results in I12 and thereafter!
Ok I have to ask...
Who's the Red Green fan on staff? I noticed in one of the new screenshots the phrase "Quando Omni flunkus moritati" the slogan of the possum lodge.
"When all else fails, play dead." translated btw.
Heh I never thought I'd see that line again. Nice to include a bit more geek culture in the game, KUDOS!
COMING SOON: A new Epic that will change the way you see Arachnos...

Also on the comic/magic thing, Superman has no defense or resistance to magic.
I'm really excited about what the contextual dialogue will bring to this game, and the story is sounding very interesting, thanks Hero 1!
Please try my custom mission arcs!

Huh, this is getting more and more interesting....
In the Arena of Logic, I fight unarmed.
Two thumbs up!

Wow! I can't believe I missed that! Thanks for the refresher
This is going to help those who want to *role* play their character creations in a whole other way!
It also hopefully means an end to rescued allies who are really dumb.
Faultline: Hey, did you see Fusionette around here anywhere?

Of course, given the number of people that actually read the text in the game...
My whole plot revolves around magic, so this story should drive most of my characters forward nicely. I'm really looking forward to it, particularly the contextual dialog.

You'd think He'd have enough XP to fix that by this time.
Really.. you'd think Dr. Fate would hook him up with SOMETHING..
Oh.. also.. original Green Lantern was magic powered..
Man.. that makes me want a hybrid powerset with Gravity Control and Illusion "Constructs"..

MMORPG.com presents an exclusive first look at City of Heroes Lead Writer Joe Morrissey's developer journal telling us about the Midnight Squad, a group of heroes that has appeared in past lore, but makes their first appearance in Issue 12. Here's a brief clip:

So, why the Midnight Hour?
The Midnight Squad takes the main focus of this issue. Theyve got some of the coolest history, yet hardly any of it has been opened up to the players. I choose the Midnight Squad because they were seriously crippled by the invasion and therefore were extremely motivated to take action against the Rikti. We did a lot with the Rikti story for Issue 10, but it was only through the single lens of the Vanguard. Now we see a second perspective, through the eyes of those hardest hit from the invasion, the Midnighters.
