Last night I tweaked the design a tiny bit (the back star wasn't "aligned" right om my eyes). Now it is a bit "pointier" but at least a few flaws in the larger version are gone (The large star is now symetrical for instance).
Here is the fixed version, avatar size (transparent background). (original version above)
Here is the fixed vesion, avatar size (with both the hero and villain background so people can see what the final would look like).

As to a version without the PPD, that is easy enough to do. 768x768 version, blue forum background

You mean the the lower left half to the upper right? should be simple enough, the only thing I'd have to do is hide a few layers and recreate the outer ring. The outer ring is really easy to do.

Actually, I didn't design it. It was a freebie from another forumite. Truth be told I've had it for so long I'm a little tired of it, but I can't find anything I like enough to replace it (plus, I lost the stand alone image with my character stabbing himself in the head, which is what it was before it got animated).

My point was that an avatar should not require research to understand.
