QFT. My daughter and son started around the 6th and 4th Grades respectively. They too learned a lot about people, imagination, and got a lot of good times in meeting decent folks on this game. Glad to hear your story. W00T for the profanity filter!

I know you didnt mention the server but I dont really think you should mention our daughters characters name. Im sorry, and I know I always get the "SOME people need to lighten up", but I dont think this is that smart.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's very considerite it you to be worried about "our" daughter, but I'll assume you forgot the 'y'.

For the past 14 years, I have worked as a senior IT Security Analyst. One of my primary duties is to educate and spread awareness in my organization, particuarilly with families and what they surf at home. Needless to say, my daughters help me with my work and also help me practice what they preach.

Letting people know what name my child plays as? Pretty harmless in CoH (since I am always with her). Think of it as taking you child for a walk through a familiar neighbourhood with a few new people living on the block you aren't sure off (yes, street smarts translate well to Internet smarts).

Now, you talk about letting people know what my kids e-mail address is or what their MSN handle is and I could tell you stories that would make you throw out your computer and never get back on the Internet... but that's off topic.

And yes, I do use CoX in some my awareness presentations as an example of a moderated virtual environment with a strong ToS and good enforcement of violations/complaints. And no, I won't tell you what games I use as my 'naughty' place.

Okay, kids. Schools out and Professor Wyll says everyone back into the CoX sandbox.

Scary or Shocking? Not for my girls. Some little ones may be afraid by some of of the mobs, but Flame just groans at the "puking zombies" cause they dish out some nasty damage and she finds the Freaks funny.

[/ QUOTE ]

If she thinks Freakshow are funny, she's going to love this fan video: Thank You. (Looks good at full screen size.)

Totally kid safe. She'll probably torment you by making you play it again and again.

Then she'll want to know how to do all those emotes.

Okay, Hero 1 (if you do vanity searches for your name like the other Devs, you'll see this), would you please answer the child's questions? If you can't, then she can rightfully claim your job.

Castle sent the link over all of us. War Witch, Positron and I are all laughing and enjoying the read. As many have said, it's nice to see stories like this come up. It also makes me glad I updated the profanity filter yesterday

As far as answering her questions, I'd be more than happy to, but something tells me my answers would be no where as interesting as hers.

I'm sure someday Hero 2 will join the forces of justice and hopefully people like Sister Flame will be there to help him along.

"Thank you all for the team. This is Flame's dad. She has to get up for Grade 1 tomorrow and needs to go to bed. She says you were all great."

I still love typing that message and watching the responses. Most are 'lol' or 'what?!'. One time, a player typed 'Wow. I wonder if my poodle could play.'. All in good fun.

Awesome

Now, she makes up toons with funny names (to us anyways), but good backgrounds. Among some of her mains are Takes Care Of Pets (A MM with two mercenaries: Cat, Dog), Takes Care Of Bats (A PB with Bat Wings) and of course, Sister Flame (a Fire Blaster with her partner, Brother Frost [me]).

That is freakin' great.

I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff. My 6yr old creates her own avatars and plays 'em in Outbreak. Once I get another comp, we're teaming together. She's just about filled up Infinity with creations. I think this is one of the best ways to bond with your kids during winter, so bless you, Brother Frost, for taking time out to play with your kids.

And I'm with Ghostmaker on this one. If you two ever swing by Virtue, give me a global yell. I'll team anytime.

My son also learned some amount of how to read in order to play games. He was already reading when we got CoH, but he figured out how to read well enough to understand the instructions to a bunch of flash games I let him play when he was 4 or so

Now he's 11 and CoH is too boring for him. He likes Roblox and making silly cartoons like on YouTube.

Flame sounds very sweet, makes me wish I had a daughter too I especially loved "Takes Care of Pets" the mastermind and the story of how she types "ty" when she sees her name cause the team likes it

And now we need a clockwork boss/EB/AV named Clickey Clack. Your daughter rules!

My son is 7. He started playing when he was around 5. I don't usually tell people his age or that it's not me when he's playing, it's just more fun that way.

My fondest memory of him playing would be when he was solo'ing through a mob of bad guys and was having trouble with the boss in the spawn. He managed not to die, rested, and came back. It was one of those epic fights where you drop the baddie with just a pinch of health left and not much end. He looked at me and said, "Don't worry, Dad. I got him. He was a noob.".

I about died.
