What My Six Year Old Has Learned From CoX
It's a fun one. ^_^
When you do it, take a picture of your hero next to Sister Flame, then post it in this thread or in the thread for the arc in the Missions forum. I did that, and apparently Sister Flame really got a kick out of it! Everyone should do that when they run her arc. ^_^

I believe its about time for another update, isn't it Wyll?

I do believe you are right.... an update, you say?
Well, summer brings a lot of CoX downtime in our hero household. When the weather gets nice, Sister Flame would much rather be swimming, riding her bike or playing soccer than playing on the computer or being stuck inside. Strange child....
However, Sister Flame has been squeezing in some CoX time. Apart from getting me to check on her arc for comments or running it with her as Brother Frost for the hundredth time, Sister Flame enjoys playing CoX with her younger sister, the sweet five year old Princess S.
One story I have to tell happened last week. Sister Flame asked if she could play CoX on my laptop and I said sure. I waited for her to ask me to play with her, but she didn't. Curious, I kept a watch on her out of the corner of my eye. Right before she was about to login in, Flame's younger sister wandered by and sat down beside her.
Princess S: Can I play?
Sister Flame: Sure. You wanna play an old hero or make a new one?
Princess S: New one.
For the next twenty minutes, I watched Sister Flame guide her younger sibling through all the creator screens. Flame read each piece of text aloud so her little sister could make her own choices. I was very proud of her patience with her little sister. I think I would have gone a little bonkers after the twelfth "What does that say?" question from Princess S. Sister Flame let Princess S chose her own costume pieces and helped her chose the color. There were no fights and Sister Flame didn't try to change any of Princess S choices.
It was cute to watch them attempt to pick a name. The sequence went a little something like this:
Sister Flame: Okay. What name do you want?
Princess S: Rose.
Sister Flame: *slowly types the name in* Taken. Try again.
Princess S: Rosie.
Sister Flame: *more slow typing* Taken. Try again.
Princes S: Lady Rose.
Sister Flame: *types, hits enters and snickers* Taken. Boy, people love the name Rose. Try something different.
Princess S: *thinks for a minute* Rose Lady?
Like I said, this went on for just a few minutes, but it was a hoot to watch and I was very proud that neither of my daughters got frustrated.
Once they had made it past the name hurdle, Sister Flame fixed up her sister's power bar, chose all her vet rewards and temp powers and then turned the laptop over to her. They only played for about fifteen minutes, but it was a great thing to watch. Princess S decided to go swimming in the "big pool" in Atlas Park, so Sister Flame gave her directions on where to go. They ran into some Hellions, but Flame told her sister to just mash the 1-2-3-4 keys until they were defeated.
All in all, it made for another great memory I'll get to cherish thanks to CoX.
Nothing else to really update you all on. Sister Flame is now a robust eight years old with a heart for soccer and sports. She has wore her Sister Flame T-shirt I made her to school quite a few times, but it is starting to wear out. I may have to sit down and make her another one. She is starting to take a serious interest in superheros and spends some of our "daddy daughter" time quizzing me about the X-Men or Hellboy. To help further this interest, I've given her some of my more appropriate comics to read and I let her play with my large box of Heroclix.
Bottom line: she's still into CoX, but she's growing up fast.
Regards
Wyll

Just played Sibling Rivalry. I would judge it as good as some of the other published story arcs in the regular game.

Some friends of mine from Australia gave their friend a crash-course on the game. She had never played any MMO before, much less CoH. They gave her control of their Stalker and said "just follow these people and press 1-5 a lot."
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

Thank you _Wyll_ once again for brightening my morning.
Here is Searing Rose and Sister Flame .
Believe it or not, I made Searing Rose about 3 years ago. Long before I knew about Sister Flame. It just shows that Sister Flame has awesome fashion sense.
There I was between a rock and a hard place. Then I thought, "What am I doing on this side of the rock?"
Thanks for the update, Wyll. I had been thinking about this thread the other day, and looking forward to another dose.

You know, the fact that an 8 year old and her 5 year old sister can eventually generate a name suitable for the character should be plastered on all those "but I can't find a naaaaaame" threads.
BTW you are the most awesome dad ever.

So what name did they eventually choose?
Considering it's his 5 year old daughter's character, we might not really need to know that, eh?

Huh. This is kinda interesting. The little kid has a good costume sense.
Oh, BTW, Sister Flame's Dad, give her some old Spider-Man comics! That'll give her radioactive experiments gone wrong, clones, crossovers, supervillains, intrigue, romance, and tons of action almost every comic!
Just steer clear of the new stuff, as I'm sure you know. That stuff is made for... um... "bigger kids."
Keep this thread going! It always brings a smile to my face.
First off, this is a great thread, and Sister Flame just comes off as an adorable, inquisitive ball of sunshine. I'm sure that makes her daddy proud.
Secondly, get that girl pretty much anything in the Marvel Adventures line of comics. Those things are great, full of funny bits that children and adults will love.

A fantasy world of celluloid villains and heroes."
While the servers were down today I surfed the forums and came across this. My daughter is two and just likes to sit in my lap and press the space bar so I jump a lot.
I'm gonna go try that arc right now since I figure the servers are back up. I'll take a screenshot with my main toon.
If you guys ever want to team up with a relaxed player send a tell to @my name is joe
I still randomly go jumping off buildings.

That was a fun arc. Definitely better than a lot I have played.
5 stars, dude! Cool post, OP!

If I had to guess...Flufflebunny Rose.
But then, I am a bit insane at the moment. Just got off work and all that.
There I was between a rock and a hard place. Then I thought, "What am I doing on this side of the rock?"
Wow. You, sir, have the most awesome kid in existance.
Just goes to show the little ones suck down information like a sponge. And who said games can't teach anything? Reading and writing skills, problem solving, and how to nuke criminals with fireballs! Kinda makes me wish I was on Freedom, I'd take your daughter on a team over most other players any day
The off-beat space pirate...Capt. Stormrider (50+3 Elec/Storm Science Corruptor)
The mysterious Djinn...Emerald Dervish (50+1 DB/DA Magic Stalker)
The psychotic inventor...Dollmaster (50 Bot/FF Tech Mastermind)
Virtue Forever.
I played Sibling Rivalry today. Sister's mailbox is full, so I'll post what I was going to say here. It was a very fun arc. Great story, and I like how the Disco Trolls came out. Very good costumes. I solo'd it with my blaster, and it wasn't too hard, nor too easy.
Hope to see another story from the mind of Sister Flame
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

Excellent to hear. Sister Flame wanted the story to be fun and enjoyable and I didn't want it to be a player slaughter house.
I'll have to pop on to check Flame's mailbox. It's hard to drag her away from other things like the pool, Doctor Who, Merlin, biking and boardgaming.
Yes... I just said it was hard to drag my eight year old away from outdoor activities and make her sit in front of a computer to play games.
Kind of erie.

She could be an example for us all. Except I don't want her to be. <grin>
Regarding Sibling Rivalry, I watched the other night as someone in a channel I'm in copied and pasted all the descriptions of the disco trolls. Awesome.

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

WooT! A Who-fan too! Now she's just pure awesome. And so are you for letting her watch Doctor Who. Have you introduced her to the original Doctor Who series or just the recent one?

Ohhhh, I gotta look that arc up next time I'm on long enough to play
