All players with City of Heroes retail* accounts will now have access to City of Villains, and all City of Villains retail* accounts will now have access to City of Heroes. Players that didn't previously have access to "the other side" will find that they do now. Just log in to check it out!

So I just bought both versions of the game...does this mean that I wasted my money and if I had waited a week, I could have paid half as much?

Fabulous!

[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly. I am really pissed about this, there needs to be some form of compensation for those who did buy both games. Like maybe a free month or2 or something because this is totally unfair to those who spent their hard earned money on both games.

[/ QUOTE ]
Think of it this way...when you purchased CoH you got a free month, then when you purchased CoV you got another free month. Those who have CoH or CoV, that get the other side won't get the free month, I think you are up on them by a free month already. So why complain. Just my 2 cents.

Just mouthing off with the rest of you on this topic. But I stand by what Ive said. Everytime Ive gotten a "gift for valued X customers" from NCSoft email, that game has been on the way out.

I dont want CoX to be on the way out. I dont want NCSoft to TREAT it like its on the way out. Id have been just fine with this announcement if it HADNT included gifts to valued customers.

But it did include gifts, and those gifts are aimed at just about everyone else who plays CoX. And then I go back and look at my Auto Assault gifts, and my Tabula Rasa gifts, and I shudder.

In the end, I really dont want gifts from NCSoft on a game I love. It just doesnt bode well.

Im happy to be proven wrong.

[/ QUOTE ]
OK, that's a valid concern. I hope you're wrong too.

You looking for this?

Thanks much. You, too, EG.

Aye, specifically this page.

Chandley,

I can't understand where you're coming from in light of all the money/resources about to be dumped into the CoH/V franchise by NCSoft.

Those facts do not jive with your pessimism.

Be well, people of CoH.

Wait Tabula Rasa giving gifts it has been out what 4 days shutters. Anyone who had a brian knew auto assualt was a bust before it was ever released heck the concept sounded stupid.

I thought the Auto Assault concept sounded pretty cool, in an abstract "Oooh, drive around and shoot stuff" sort of way. But then again, I don't have a Brian, though I do have a pair of perfectly servicable Michaels.

The opening up of both sides seems to me the upcoming combination of the two.

When will we be able to take our villians to run around and start wars under atlas?

When will we be able to take our heros into the Rogue Isles for some well earned asskicking?

Will we have a chance to get a few more TF's on the redside?

How about a few more GM's, Zones, and some actual serious looks into the recommendations given throughout the life of this game?

Good job NC soft, now pay me back for buying both games by giving us some more content after lvl 50, knock my socks off with fixing the bugs, and opening up more zones.

I love the game, but I'm bored with the grind!

Earlier in the thread either Ex or Lighthouse stated that the Mountain View job listings are all for the newly established NorCal CoH/V studio. Also earlier in the thread it was clearly stated that only one person out of the entire Cryptic team assigned to CoH/V had accepted the NCSoft offer and will be moving to the new studio with the game.

[/ QUOTE ]
Read it again. Only one person hasn't accepted. The popular speculation is that that person is Jack Emmert, but we haven't seen anything explicitly stating this AFAIK. It's possible that Jack wasn't offered a job for one reason or another and someone else said no.

[/ QUOTE ]

Oops... typo. That's exactly what I meant to say - and, if you read the rest of my post carefully you will see that the tone of it supports that. I'll go back and fix it.

I was eying that position as well. A year ago my wife would happily have moved to California, our circumstances have changed a bit (well one heck of a lot actuallY), so tis but a pipe dream for me to apply.

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh, really? That quite an interesting statement there Mr. Cat.

As for auto assult, bring on that Big [censored] zone for COX, That was a freaking big world that needed some heros and villians.

If you could intersperse those sized zones within the COX games and combine that same expansive area with armies of enemies, some Misfit reneagade supercriminal types, maybe even add a few arch enemies, and some other areas besides paragon, ( Heck even add a few more countries to the game) with COH, COV, that would be a game to rival WOW.

OK, sorry to ask this as I know it kinda a lame question, and sorry if it's been asked before, but there is no way I'm going to wade thru all the whining in this thread...

But when they wipe out character debt, will that debt be applied towards the debt badges (as if you worked it off), or will it simply disappear? No biggie if it just vanishes, but if it can be done so that it applied towards the badges, that would be cool. I have one lvl 50 character that's my badge ho (450+ badges and counting!), and I frequently rack up debt and work it off for this very reason.

If I know in advance the debt won't be applied towards the badges I'll work off whatever debt she currently has before it's wiped out, and make sure I don't rack up more until after the purge.

i hope the auroborus is the first step to hero/villain cross over. It would make sense for level 50 Characters (or maybe not just but its the only way i can think that doesnt wack out the already wacked out epics) to be able to use the system to experience content on the other side.

posted it in suggestions and ideas.

Don't feel bad about not wading through the thread, because I'm pretty sure that question hasn't been answered yet.

I should clarify my stance here as an MMO I never thought it was a good concept it would be great in fps style game setup. Driving around shooting stuff blowing up things screams fps not MMO. So just to clarify my stance because some games just fit differnt markets better

no it hasnt. But even if it doesnt, it cant really hurt to try. If you want you debt back, its pretty easy to rack it up

That gives me an idea. Let's run it up the flagpole.

Here's a ThankYou that I think more people would appreciate. Maybe it's possible, maybe it's not, Maybe it's easy, maybe it's not. A Debt-Wipe token or clicky temp-power that can be activated at the player's discretion. Even better, make it transferable and sellable at WW/BM for those people who, for one reason or another, would never use such a thing. If they turn out to be at all popular, put a recipe for same into the drop tables like the respec recipe.

Does this mean that since cryptic has an office in Texas and they will no longer be part of the project that the tax will no longer be applied to Texas Residents

[/ QUOTE ]

Similarly, does this also mean that maintenance windows will now be 8-10 PST rather than 8-10 CST? I would dare say that'll impact the player base a little more.

If so, standard maintenance windows become:
EST 11am-1pm
CST 10am-12noon
MST 9-11am
PST 8-10am

[/ QUOTE ]

Maintenance won't change as the game servers have always been set up and operated by NCsoft. None of that is changing.

We'll be happy to prove you wrong. I'd like to reiterate the statement, found in a couple places in the announcements: "We are now in a position to make a major reinvestment in the City of Heroes product line.

We're aren't staffing up to sit around and do nothing

Everyone here is very excited with the prospects and plans for the future!

For the serverless version maybe. Otherwise I'm expecting to see COX still going 5+ years from now even if COX2 is around by then. Remember EQ and EQ2.
