Secret Code Makes Opponents Invulnerable to AS

Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right B, A, Select, Start.

What crappy Stalkers have you been playing with? Build up, Super Speed in, then AStrike. They never hear you coming.

Actually, it's:
Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Select, Start
And in CoH it gives you a little red gun that shoots orange balls in all directions. And what do you think of when you see orange balls?

Some of us however, have such awful powerset sounds that we have to turn our sounds off, as such we're not able to hear a build up sound.
You want us to be able to hear build up as a defense to AS? Change or remove dark armor sounds as well as mud pots, and several others.

[ QUOTE ]
Since when? Unless I'm mistaken, AS is like any other attack - once the attack is begun, the target could be superspeeding away and will still get hit...
...as long as the target is in LOS. I have to be honest and add the conditional modifier.
There is enough total BS on the topic of stalkers - let's not add any, folks. A more accurate version of your statement would be that never staying in an area long enough for anyone to queue an attack on you is a good defense against AS. This is true.
It is also not particularly useful advice.

That's how intelligent players play. Then there are the ones that hear things, stand there, and get ganked. And I'm talking about the ones who have heard the sound of Build Up go off many times before, stood there and got ganked, not the first timers. It's sorta like hearing thunder while your outside and standing there waiting to get hit by lightning.
Just a bunch of whiners who think they should be unkillable.
It's actually Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A.
The 'Select' is unnecessary, and the 'Start' wasn't part of the code, it just unpaused it for you. If you include it in the code, then you would need a start at the beginning too.

It'll probably take a Logic A-Bomb to settle this dispute that only LoS affects the interruption of a melee attack.

I guess you're more old school than I am. My first experience with "the code" was in Contra where, according to that page you linked, Select was needed for two player mode. I always played with my brother, sister, friend, uncle, etc. so I guess that's why it's burned into my brain that way.
EDIT: After fully reading that page, I guess you're not more old school than me, we just had different taste in games.

Wait, you can HEAR Stalkers using Build Up? Oh my, I'll have to rethink the safety of toggling Integration in the middle of a zone.
Hmm, running backwards. I have to admit, that would sure throw me off. Hardly the direction you expect someone to run in.

Since you've admitted that it has to break LoS then 'any combination' should read 'any combination that has you rounding a corner or going over a ledge'.

Nope. If you kept moving in the first place, the Stalker couldn't fire off AS. Thus, those keys indeed work.

Actually that is incorrect, the "start" is needed to start the game and the "select" is for switching from 1 player to 2 player on Contra. The "start" and "select" are not really part of the code, but they are needed to make it work. As to the "pause" referance, I have never heard or used that before, is it possible that is needed for a specific option in a specific Konami game?
As an aside to those mentioning the code is burned into our brains, I feel for you, but must point out that we are relics of a bygone era as a fellow gamer friend of mine's little brother, also an avid gamer, had no clue what a "Konami code" was. I see this as a sign of things to come. "C'mon Grampa, tell us again about the funny games you used to play on one of those 'Tee-Vee's'".
As to the topic at hand, I gave up on trying to avoid the AS. Anymore, I just find a nice spot to hover fairly low to the ground (don't want any of that falling damage to make it any easier for them punks) and sit and wait. At the sound of Buildup, I hit my own as well as Aim. As soon as the punk is visible I just start blasting away until either I am on my way to the hospital (much more likely outcome) or Defiance (surprizingly I found a use) kicks in the over drive and saves the day. My stalker fights are extremely short, and favored to the Stalker about 4 to 1. Any other AT usually lasts at least three times as long, and varies based on builds. Some builds whoop me, some don't. But Stalkers, I go out and buy a lottery ticket when I drop me one of those. Pure luck on my part. As to avoiding Stalkers, I can't avoid what I can not see.

The Konami code was first seen in Gradius in 1986, where it was as I described. You had to hit 'start' to pause the game, enter the code, and the hit 'start' again to unpause the game.
People are most familiar with the Contra variation which adds the option of hitting 'select' at the end for 2 player mode. For Contra's single player mode, you did not hit 'select.' But Contra was released in 1988 long after Gradius had established the code as Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A.
As for the 'starts,' I agree they are needed to start the game, but they are needed whether you enter the code correctly or not. They do not become part of the code for that reason.
Again, my source like, with all the information I am referring too. Wikipedia: Konami code

This is why I personally no longer open with AS, but rather with my soaring dragon critical. Let's face it, you people are getting smart. If I get lucky... there's a knockdown that leaves space for a freebie placate+AS If not... well there's still the possibility of a good intimidate. If that doesn't work it's really up to the target if they feel like staying around to fight. More often than not it's the target rather than myself that opts for the "retreat" button.
Unless it's an ice tank... Ice tanks are probably the longest, most irritating whiff-fests I've encountered. At least the rest of 'em are nice enough to take even a little damage. Ice tanker battles turn into a game of "who's got more blues" that can last ten minutes or more.
