Since when? Unless I'm mistaken, AS is like any other attack - once the attack is begun, the target could be superspeeding away and will still get hit...
...as long as the target is in LOS. I have to be honest and add the conditional modifier.
There is enough total BS on the topic of stalkers - let's not add any, folks. A more accurate version of your statement would be that never staying in an area long enough for anyone to queue an attack on you is a good defense against AS. This is true.
It is also not particularly useful advice.

Whenever I hear "Build Up" go off, I immediately start running BACKWARDS. It's pavlovian, at this point. It's been a long time since anyone AS'd me successfully.

My blaster's been assassinated once and that was enough for me to realize that you should rarely stand still in a PVP zone. While AS seems to hit if it has started already, hopping around makes it hard for stalkers to get into melee range long enough to set it up. I imagine this tactic may not work as well vs. Focus or Shockwave, but hey....it's saved my bacon tons of times.
Two things:
1) Anyone that regularly tries to AS running NPCs knows that there is more to it than the distance when you activate the power. If someone is running from you (usually back to where they started after chasing you) and you stop to activate it when they are close enough; the power will activate, run through its animation, miss, but will not need to be recharged. The power button will still be full size and can be pressed again immediately. Happens all the time to me (Ninja/Ninjitsu).
2) I thought that stealth powers rendered our power sounds mute, just like it renders our glowing power effects invisible. Is Build Up (and others?) an exception to this? I know some things can't be heard since back in beta I'd stand next to people with some loud toggle powers on and they clearly didn't know it.

Stealth does not mute the sounds you make. People can hear you use Build up if your too close, always try to activate it 20-30yds away.
Same goes for splashes in water. Other players can hear and see your tracks in the water.

On the Atari 2600 console, hold down Reset and Power. Now, select game 1 and then start the game. You'll now have double shots.

Old school cheat

I'll go older - in game 9 of Combat, first person to turn their tank one position to the right and fire gets the kill (from the way the shot bounces around), which then knocks them through the wall to your side. Turn around and get one more kill while their spinning and be two up the whole game!
getting AS isnt' the hard part, it's gettin AS off while Build-Up is still running that gets tricky with moving targets.
One reason alot of pvp built stalkers take tp self so they can BU and teleport near the victim fast enough to que AS if they are moving or the telestrike.
Heh. As a stalker Attempting to PvP (Nin/Nin) I hate watching those PvP minded running around like headless chickens. I took TP Foe for the PvE usage of Culling the Herd solo. It's fairly useless in PvP unless you TP an idjit, have Caltrops, or a friend who can toss out something sticky. Otherwise they just keep going. If you try BU, TP foe, then try to AS, you don't get the Extra dmg because TP Foe unhides you...so you have to throw Placate in there which, well, lets em get too far away to AS.
but you DO have caltrops...so why dont you tp them into cal, hit placate, BU, and AS real quick?

ROFL.. wow.. now I REALLY feel old. I'm only 24, but my first gaming experiances were with the old Atari. I loved those combat games and I used to do that to my brother ALL the time. I've always been good with geometry/angles.
However, I was one of the few that never played Contra, I did however play the TMNT games, which used the Konami Code. ( There is a variation of Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right BA BA, but I don't know what game that was for.)

Attacking a Stalker within the 4 seconds and actually hitting is quite unlikely too. Stalker defenses are just too high.

lol yeah what most around maybe 25-30%, one purple insp worth. that statement is garbage.

It's amazing how easy it is to annoy stalkers just by using a little strategy.
On my fire/dev blaster, when I'm superspeeding around in PvP zones I change direction erratically, bunny hop for no particular reason, run in circles, and generally make it hard to anticipate where I'm going to end up. If I'm travelling from place to place, every so often I'll stop and throw caltrops with no warning - I've caught a couple of stalkers that didn't realize that I don't have to see them to guess correctly.
I think adding up the number of times I've killed stalkers vs. the number of times I've been killed by stalkers, it's about a 10:1 ratio.

hey thats my win loss ratio vs everything. how much we are alike, yet im the one to be nerfed? hmm i think others should see this.

For some reason I also remember the code being UUDDLRLRBABA yatta yatta for Contra. Anyone else think this?

Because I'm a freak, and a few years after the Konami code actually was named the "Konami Code" I heard many different versions of it. I had to test them all to satisfy my curiosity. It just couldn't be that all the codes were programmed in, just a few key triggers.
They all worked.
I didn't have any solid conclusion... like as long as you had an "Up Down" and a "Left Right" and a "B A" it would work. But I think I came to that conclusion... not sure about order either... if a A B U D L R would work... but
U D L R B A worked
U U D D L R L R B A worked
U U D D L R L R B A B A worked...
U D U D L R L R B A worked...
and you get the idea...
I'm weird...
In the Apple II version of Wizardy, characters of the Bishop class could attempt to identify objects in their inventory. Each character could only hold 8 objects, so "I1", "I2", "I3", etc were the keypresses to ID them. Amazingly, "I9" (identifying a non-existant object) worked one time in many, and granted the character 100k or 100M xp.
