Ok ty for your response. Here is a reworked build. I decided to go ahead and throw cost out the window as I can see this character being my main so I might as well deck him out. I liked your slotting for hot feet a lot so I used it with a lil tweak.
I also forgot about the rule of no more then 5 of the same set bonuses so I tried to be careful of that this time. Also I saw you have 2 LotG +Recharge globals slotted, I didnt know you could do that so I added an extra one in this build.
I also have a question about capping my S/L defense and resist. In Mid's it shows my defense as only 37.4% and resistance as only 22.3%, what am I missing?
I guess I should have stated this before but my 2 main goals with this build is to be defense capped and have as much +recharge as possible.

Hi all, I'm a returning player from over 4+ years and I rolled up a Fire/Kin/Stone for farming purposes. Just need some help from the experts. This is supposed to be a semi-cheap build as I am broke as hell! I left the game with 30 mil and that was a lot to have at the time. I come back to see people charging 10mpr for farms and I'm like wut! Well anyway, here's the build lol:

Why would anyone want to move to Freedom for PvP? It is already over crowded to the point where it lags horribly, and if and when there is another double XP weekend good luck with that. To top it off the arena is always so dead there. They had no one show for their SMP while the other servers (except Virtue who failed to get more than a single group) had at least 3 and Infinity got 7 full teams to come out for it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I dont want to move to Freedom, I want to stay here. If Freedom gets picked then that means I dont have to pay 10$ and I dont have to go through the PITA of switching servers. I'm sure most players are thinking along the same lines as me and since Freedom has the highest population.. well there you go.
Also I'm sure that a lot of Freedom Players will want to move to other servers to avoid the lag. Not everyone on Freedom wants to be in the most populated server. So I'm thinking server populations will even out after a while. -

As a public service, I am always willing to come up with names for any character from the most general of concepts. I guarentee no (.)'s or (-)'s and most of all the name will make sence.
[/ QUOTE ]
Awesome! I will take you up on that as I just found out we will be able to do name changes soon for a small fee. -
I am one of those people who suck at naming my characters. Literature/Writing was never one of my strong suites. I'm more of an artsy person, so I make really cool costumes (IMO) and then my names usually suck. For example, my main Scrapper Konflict- ... I hated having to use the - at the end of the name and it still bothers me when I look at it to this day. And my lastest kick has been just throwing Lord in front of every name I want (as shown in sig lol).
So thank you for this guide! I'll make sure to remember to look at it before I roll my next alt lol. -

Wouldnt it be better to just find the most expensive common IO to craft and make a ton of those instead of making different kinds?
[/ QUOTE ]
Not really actually, because you dont wont to have to spend much to buy a recipe....and you wont get 10 Health Recipes in a row from street sweeping/missions/farming etc...
The best way would be to craft EVERY I/O you can get your hands on from drops. They are free to you and the salvage to craft em is very minimal. If you just start buying your recipes from WW or the tables alone, you start dipping into your potential profits.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh no that wasnt what I was saying. I already have some good memorization badges so I dont need any more. I was asking; when I actually respec shouldnt I have the most expensive IO's? Like just use all Accuracy to get the most influence per respec. -

[ QUOTE ]
Is there something I'm doing wrong though? Is there any way I could speed up this process. I think what took the longest was actually getting the alt to level 3 which was an excersize in frustration cause I hate soloing the low-lvl content.
[/ QUOTE ]
Here is my suggestion....Dont do the Game Content period. You are making a "Resped Mule" for the influence, not story arcs. Running from one mish to another is making you lose ground, and the XP you get for the mission complete bonus is minimal at those lvls anyway. Start out in Atlas at lvl 1 and street sweep around the Sewer Entrance area until you hit lvl 2. Go get your next attack power and street sweep the same spot until you hit lvl 3.....10 minutes tops!
With my newly posted guide, you would then go to your SG base and take 10 I/Os from the Storage Bin and do your Respecs. From your last post, it sounds like you have 3 Vet Respecs. Respec'in using my newest update can net you an approx. average of 2mill per Respec....So...If you craft 30 Memorized Common I/Os and put them all in your Bin, Roll an alt to lvl 3 and do 3 respecs...
An estimated total of 6mill profit.....not bad for rolling only 1 alt.
You can do this at your own leisure too....Run 3-5 missions or street sweep, then craft all your Memorized Common Recipes and dump them in your bin. When you get bored one day, just roll an alt and respec some cash.....ITS THAT EASY!!
No grind involved at all...you just have to spend the initial influence to get those Recipes memorized, then go at your own pace.
[/ QUOTE ]
I didnt do any content besides the Turtorial. I only did that so I could get the teir 3 inspirations to fund my first round of IO's for the respec. Once I got out of the turtorial I then hunted in Atlas around WW's. It took me about 15 minutes to get from level 2-3. I was hunting +1 to +2 mobs... Should I be looking for +0 or -1's?
And I only made 3.5 million influence... With the memorization method making 6 million per run sounds a lot better! lolz And I already have quite a few lvl 45-50 memorization badges. Wouldnt it be better to just find the most expensive common IO to craft and make a ton of those instead of making different kinds? -
Ok so I tried the respec trick last night. I think I suck at it or something cause once I finally had the influence transfered to my main it took an hour.
I rolled a Fire/EM Blaster. Went through the turtorial to get the teir 3 inspirations. Then I went and sold those at WW's to get the funds I needed to start. I then hunted Hellions in Atlas to get to lvl 3. Just that took me about a half hour all together.
Then I could not find any level 45 common IO's for less than 5000 inf (most were a LOT more), so with my first respec I went with lvl 40 IO's. I only ended up with about 800k. Then for round 2 I went with level 45's cause I had the money for the investment. After that round I was up to over 2.5 million. Then for my 3rd respec I tried to do it with mostly level 50 IO's and a few more 45's. After my 3 respecs I ended up with a little over 3.5 million influence. But the process of finding the IO's and running back and forth to respec took me a while also. Then using a trick I learned to transfer the influence to my main ended up taking another 10-15 minutes.
So all together, 1 hour for 3.5 million. Not bad but not great either. Concidering I can make 4-10 million influence per hour just be farming arcane foes on my 50's, the respec method is not optimal for me.
Is there something I'm doing wrong though? Is there any way I could speed up this process. I think what took the longest was actually getting the alt to level 3 which was an excersize in frustration cause I hate soloing the low-lvl content. -
Damn... Home server is filled. Time to find another alt to delete!
And thanks to another kind poster on these boards I have a way to transfer that influence to my main without needing the help of anyone else!
I'm gonna be soo friggin rich!
EDIT: Heres an idea to get you started even easier. Go through the turtorial to get to lvl 2. Take the tier 3 Dmg and Health inspirations and DONT use them. Once you get out of the turtorial, run strait to WW's and sell those inspirations. Players buy those teir 3's for a pretty decent amount of influence. And even if you cant sell them through WW's for whatever reason, anyone with a SG base and Auto-Doc/Tree of Wonders can sell them there. -
Yes.
If it wasnt for the zone PvP I would have left this game a long, long time ago. -

Lol, ok, well, want to share 1 of your HUGE sellers? I need some inf, getting 2 toons to 50 (one is 48, 1 is 43) and would love to IO them out for PvP, so, any chance you'll share some? ;p

The best advise I can give you is this:
Farm magic factions for rare salvage. (Pangeon Soil, Hamidon Goo, Prophecy, etc...) Then from here, its all in your play style. You can play the market and try to get those lvl 50 Sciroccos Dervish Acc/Dam recipes, or run "Quickie Katies" or other TFs.
Good sellers are as you have probably seen:
Luck of the Gambler (any)
Sciroccos Dervish (any)
Positrons Blast (BIG HITTER!!!!)
All of these sets you can get within a reasonable amount of time.
Your +recovery +regen I/Os are VERY RARE.....but when you get them, you hit the lottery BIG.
I play the market for all my High Dollar recipes....BUT....I have all the rare salvage to make them. So....If I buy a Sciroccos Dervish ACC/DAM for say: 1.5mill influence + Crafing 500k (since I have the rares already) and turn around and sell the I/O for 6-10 million depending on the going rate at the time.
There is your hint.
I cant STRESS ENOUGH that when you get a rare salvage NOT TO SELL IT to make that quick 2-3 million. Take it, get a good recipe, and DOUBLE your profit.
That is all.
Frozen.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, very good advice right there. I picked up a Scirroco's Dervish the other day, had the salvage I needed to craft it... It sold for 17 million!
Although I do sell most of the rare salvage I get. It seems the price is declining slowly but surely, so I figure its best to sell now. Later on if I need the salvage to craft my own IO's it should be cheaper than when I had it and sold it. -
Awesome guide! I read this guide Friday and followed your advice over the weekend. I started with less than 5 million influence... Now I have 30 million influence, plus much more in crafted enhancements waiting to be sold. I picked up 6 of the HO's that I needed really bad (3 Cyto's and 3 Membrane's) which ran me about 7-8 million a piece. So all in all I made myself probubly over 50 million influence over the weekend.
I bought some of the recipe's that you actually named specifically in your guide. I made a good bit of money on that stuff (Thunderstrike, Titanium Coating and Crushing Impact). However I found that the recipe/enhancements that you named were not selling as fast as I had hoped, sometimes my enhancements would take all day to sell.
Using your advice, I looked for ther more popular rare enhancements. In certain sets, a couple of the rare recipe's usually dont require the expensive magic salvage to craft. So I look for the 1-3 out of the popular rare sets that I can craft relatively cheap. Then I can sell them for 2-3 million influence. I try to profit around a million per sale. I found that the uncommon set that you named were only selling for 1-2 million this weekend (maybe because of the double exp).
So with your help my Scrapper is getting much closer to my fully IO'd / HO'd out build. Thank you! -
Hi all! I just got the full version of Fraps a few days ago and I started recording PvP footage for videos. I dont have that much to work with yet but I wanted to see what I could do.
I used Fraps to record, Virtual Dub to edit the clips and Windows Movie Maker to put it together. So please let me know what you think!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0gtz5ZkaA0
One thing I want to know... Are there any filters I should be using in WMM? Is there anything I can do to make the video less blurry? This was recorded in 1152x870 resolution, if I increas my resolution to 1280x960 will the finished video look better? -
SuckerPunch, thanks a ton! Your web planner is soooo much easier to use than most of the others that I have tried. And I dont care about the numbers, there are other sources for that stuff.
I found a bug though, I dont know if its known or not. When you try to add your level 48 slots, it doesnt let you slot any powers that you picked before level 47. But you can skip level 48, then pick your level 49 power and then at level 50 you can slot your level 48 and 50 slots in all powers. -

Placate (the power) has a couple of effects.
First, it applies Placate (the effect) to a single target. Any target that has the Placate effect on it cannot target the person who used the Placate.
Second, it applies a 'Hide Like' state, which is neither Hide, nor Stealth. It does allow for Stalker powers critical's, however.
It does not give any Defense bonus at all.
Other powers which can Placate (Smoke Flash) only apply the First part. The Hide like stat is not granted at all -- in other words, it is 100% defensive, not a Set Up power.

Thanks for clearing that up _Castle_ ! -
I personally have never noticed "Hidden" appear when I placate. I know this for sure because when I solo elite bosses, I kill their minions first, after I finish off the minion I placate the EB, then I run away until I go into hide mode again, the whole time I'm looking at my buff bar waiting for "hidden" to show up. Then when I fight the EB, I use placate to get away after my attack chain, I run about 100 yds away, wait for "hidden" to show up, then go back for another round. YMMV of course.

I should probably update my stalker Q&A at some point. Here's how placate works:
First, there is a placate effect and a placate power.
What placate the effect does is remove the user of the placate from the aggro list of the target of the placate, in PvE, and suppress the ability for that critter to reaggro the attacker until the placate wears off or is broken. Attacking, or in any way damaging the target breaks the placate immediately.
Placate the power has a couple of properties:
1. Its autohit
2. It placates (in the sense of the effect) the target
3. It places the stalker into the hidden state
4. Placate counts as an attack. This means even though it takes you off the target's aggro list, it will cause any critters near the targetted critter to aggro on you, just as if you attacked the target with a normal attack.
The hidden state has nothing to do with stealth. It is, in fact, somewhat of a misnomer: it ought to be called the "critical state" because thats what it does: while in the hidden state, stalker attacks will perform critical hits when they land.
The confusion arises because the hidden state is related to another power: hide. Hide will also place the stalker into the hidden state under a certain set of circumstances, but hide itself has a number of properties:
1. Hide is a stealth power: it offers significant -perception.
2. Hide also offers defense like most stealth powers.
3. Hide's -perception and +defense are suppressed, like most stealth powers are, when the stalker is either hit by damage or attacks in turn. Note that attacks break hide's stealth, but not all actions do. Tossing caltrops does not break stealth directly.
4. When hide's stealth activates, hide simultaneously:
* begins to offer -perception
* begins to offer (increased) +def
* places the stalker into the hidden state.
5. If hide's stealth is broken, it takes 10 seconds of inactivity (during which the stalker cannot attack or be hit by damage) before the hide suppression wears off and hide reengages, with all of the effects listed above.
The confusion is that the hidden state can be achieved in two separate ways: placate will immediately place the stalker into the hidden state, and the stealth power hide can also place the stalker into the hidden state. But the hidden state is only one of *many* things both hide and placate do, and most people incorrectly link those powers' other effects with the hidden state.
The hidden state has nothing to do with stealth. Hide offers stealth, and also can get you into the hidden state at the same time. But when placate puts you into the hidden state, placate has no stealth benefit to add on top.
Similarly, placate (the power) has no special critical hit capability. Placate (the power) puts you into the hidden state, and its the hidden state that gets you critical hit capability. Smoke flash, which is an AoE placate (the effect, not the power), is another power that can placate targets, but because it has no ability to place you into the hidden state, you can't crit after using it (necessarily).
There seems to be some confusion as to whether or not placate will place you into the hidden state because the "hidden" word doesn't show up in your console. I'm not sure why: I tested this when I wrote my stalker FAQ, and I retested to be sure: if you turn off hide, walk up to something, and placate them, you immediately get the green "hidden" indicator word on your screen below your buffs, every time. That indicator was added in beta specifically to tell stalkers that the were in the state necessary to critical hit: if you find a circumstance whereby you believe you are in the "hidden" state, because your attacks critical, but the green indicator word doesn't show up on your screen, /bug it.
(By the way, while in the hidden state stalker attacks have a 100% chance to crit: outside of the hidden state stalkers can still land critical hits if the attack they use has an inherent critical hit percentage chance separate from the hidden state. For example, attacks like eagle's claw have inherent critical hit percentages: they can crit at that inherent percentage even if the stalker is not hidden).
Perception is something special. I've discussed perception with Castle recently. The problem with the -perception of hide is that critters are not affected by -perception in the same way that players are. Critters use their perception range for one thing and one thing only: determining if they detect a target to aggro on. Once aggroed, critters do not consult with perception values to track you: in effect, critters that are aggroed on you have almost limitless perception (but it is bounded: you can actually hit targets from outside their maximum perception range, and when you do, they just stand around confused and unable to do anything - try it with a highly slotted snipe), and that perception cannot be significantly altered.
The problem is with critter AI: if a stalker could really make herself "invisible" to a critter, there's no AI available to tell the critters what to do next. So if you aggro a bunch, and then run away, and then rehide, you're invisible, but the critters don't care you're invisible: they'll know where you are regardless, and will target you as if you were perfectly visible.
Notice: mastermind pets will hunt down critters that you as the mastermind can't even see anymore. Anything controlled by the game AI "cheats" perception, because the limitations of the game AI force them to.

Thank you Arcanaville, you explained it in great detail much better than I could have.
The only thing I was incorrect about was that you do get the "Hidden" word in your buff bar when you use Placate. That could be where all the confusion is coming from. To the Stalker, it does look like they are hidden. The only way the Stalker would know for sure is if they get attacked by the other enemys that are not Placated.
But like I said before. Get 2 friends and go into a PvP zone, test it for yourselves, it would only take you 5 minutes including travel time. -

Here, I got bored, and dug up a _Castle_ response from earlier, saying quite clearly that placate gives you "hide" status.
Check it out

No where in that post does Castle confirm anything about placate. What he is saying, is that for all intents and purposes, "hide" status is only used for determining if you will crit or not. "Hide" status has nothing to do with -Perception.
So yes, Placate does give you "hide" status, but it only grants you -Perception for the target you placated. I wish I knew how to make a video.
