[u]1) DISCLAIMER: [u]
First and foremost this is the quickest way that has worked for ME since the start of I-9. Each and every individual who does this will have different results. The only thing I cant STRESS ENOUGH is to Play Smart. **(see below for stupid mishaps!)** This whole money making process was a “trial and error” process for me at first BUT, now that I have taken a few days to figure out the system I sell faster than rabbits can reproduce! Yes I had my ups and downs, stupid buying mistakes, etc… but the tides have changed and never again will I make some of the big mistakes that I have. With that being said…onto the guide!

[u] 2) STARTING A NEW HERO [u]

If you are just starting CoH and have no level 50s, this guide is for you. (or anyone that wants to start a new alt) To begin your playing session, form a team and run the sewer system until level 7, or do solo missions…which ever you do to level up fastest. Then here is where your money making potential starts. Now remember, If you can “solo” missions just fine by yourself, you will get ALL of the drops and not have to share them with teammates. What you will want to look for to get you started off is “MAGIC” invention salvage, as Luck Charms and many others sell like hotcakes at WW’s. (Wentworths) At your lower levels, Hellions and CoT’s are your best bet for getting magic drops. Go to Kings Row and run Scanner Missions involving CoT or Hellions, or head over to Perez Park and beat down on the Hellions.

My first drops on my new hero (fire/energy tanker) was a Luck Charm, Ancient Artifact, and Rocket Boots. I went to WW’s and sold the Luck Charm for 45k. Rocket Boots sold for 4 million. Again, not everyone will get as lucky as I did in finding Rocket Boots. My suggestion to you is to sell off all Magic salvage and save up until you have reached the 500k influence mark. Now here is when all the fun begins.

Take your fresh 500k influence and go to WW’s. Now here is where you need to be SMART about what you buy, or you will find yourself with a recipe/ I/O that will NOT sell! Here are the suggestions I will give you on making your first sell. Not too many people realize what this recipe is until later on down the line when they have already sold it for little to nothing. Go to the Recipes tab, then Resist Damage tab, then to Steadfast Protection. Select Resist/Defense. People here in the Forums know right away that this I/O recipe is the +3% global defense I/O. Next, you will want to put in a maximum bid of 200k influence for one of these recipes. **You can get them cheaper if you play around with prices** Once you have bought this recipe, go to the “salvage” tab, then “inventions” tab, and buy all of the salvage required to craft the I/O. (you shouldn’t have to spend more than 20k for everything) Once the recipe and salvage are bought, go to a University (or your base if it has a crafting table) and craft the I/O. Once the I/O is crafted, go back to WW’s and check the history of selling prices for that crafted I/O. If the last 5 sells average 1 – 1.5 million, then post it for 1 million. Don’t get too greedy, this is your first sell and you want the return ASAP! Once this I/O sells, you will be near or over 1 million influence in da bank.

Most players are "lazy" and do not want to buy the salvage and recipes to craft I/Os and/or dont want to wait for a certain drop. This is where we as the "suppliers" play a big part in WentWorths. These players could go out like we do and craft the I/O themselves for under 500k EASILY, but instead they take the easy way out and buy our I/Os.

Therefore, we spend 500k to make and THEY pay 1-3 million for it!

**Note: This I/O may sell right away or take as long as a day to sell** Be patient and wait for it to sell. Go run missions and increase your profit even more. When you finally get it sold, then you will be able to start a “mini” mass production. Next, buy 2 recipes, all the salvage, craft the I/O’s, and sell both of them. Once those 2 sell, buy 4 recipes……..rinse and repeat. Eventually you will be able to fill your tray with I/O’s for sale. **Make sure to leave 1-2 spots open for buying/selling more recipes/salvage etc…**

Now your probably thinking…a full tray of resist/defense I/Os? Remember…Those I/Os range from level 10 – 30. There are a LOT of toons out there that will eventually want these. Once you have some influence built up, add a different I/O to the mix.

**SEE BELOW FOR THE HOT SELLERS**

[u] 3) FOR ALL YOU LEVEL 25-45 HEROES [u]

You will all have a big advantage to newer heroes. You are in the level ranges to “farm” certain missions solo and reap the rewards all for yourself. Remember…Solo will get you more drops! You can by-pass the lower stuff and get straight to the good sellers. Hint: Croatoa and Dark Astoria are hot spots for magic salvage. Go there and tear it up!

[u] 4) FOR ALL YOU LEVEL 46-50 HEROES [u]

Its all gravy from here. Run missions over and over again or farm. Take all the “common” I/O recipes you get and sell them to a regular NPC at a store. You will profit anywhere from 75-120k + per recipe. Its not uncommon to get 3-7 common recipes per mission…Easy Money! Its very easy for the HARDCORE Farmers to rake in 7.5 million influence per hour. Now…imagine that type of income PLUS selling a full tray of I/O’s at WW’s while running your missions. Check back at WW’s every 2-4 missions and refill your stock.

**I personally have an entire enhancement storage bin completely filled with crafted Set I/Os waiting to get their chance on the market** Why you ask? Because I don’t like to go back and forth from WW’s to my base to craft and back all the time. I sell on average around 10-20 I/Os a day at the minimum of 1 million per enhancement. On my best selling day, I raked in a whopping 104 million influence! It can be done, you just have to know how the system works and what is hot! When I log for the night and go to work, I fill up all the slots with I/Os. When I get home from work and before I go to sleep, I claim my influence from sells, go to my base and pick out more I/Os, and put them into the market for sale. When I wake up, same thing. Then I go out and play in the CoH world doing missions, TFs, etc… and check up periodically.

[u] 5) TRIAL AND ERROR/STUPID MISHAPS/THINGS NOT TO DO [u]

*Do not buy a level 50 recipe that requires a RARE salvage like Hamidon Goo, Pangeon Soil, or Essence of the Furries unless you have it on hand! I made my first mistake of buying a cheap Mako’s Bite: Chance for Lethal Damage and not have the proper salvage to craft it. So in other words, It sat in my recipes slot for 2 weeks taking up space until I got the proper drops. (I wasn’t going to pay 5 million for a piece of Rare salvage)

*Make sure you are SELLING Crafted I/Os and not BUYING Crafted I/Os! I made the mistake a few times where I was checking on how much certain I/Os sold for and placed what I thought was a selling price for my I/O, when in fact I just purchased myself an I/O!!! =P

*Leave yourself a slot or 2 to sell/bid on salvage/recipes. I made the mistake of completely filling my tray while playing and when I went to go buy salvage to craft an I/O, nothing had sold yet and I had to EAT the enlistment fee for posting an I/O at WW’s.

[u] 6) WHAT IS SELLING LIKE HOTCAKES AT WW? [u]

Steadfast Protection: Resistance/Defense Global I/O
Crushing Impact: ALL I/Os
Thunder Strike: ALL I/Os
Red Fortune: ALL I/Os
Impervium Armor: ALL I/Os
Titanium Coating: ALL I/Os

**Almost every one of these sets only require common and uncommon salvages to craft!** That means you can buy the recipes usually for under 300k, the salvage to craft for under 50k (mostly), and craft them for no more then 450k.

All of the above sell for 1.5 – 3 million EASY.

I have recently gotten into the Gift of the Ancients: Run Speed I/O

I can pick up these bad boys for under 200k. They DO require one rare but it is not too expensive. (roughly 200-400k for the rare) These have been selling for 2million + on the market as of now.

There are many other I/Os out there that are selling like mad…these are just the ones that I have had GREAT results from.

[u] 7) OTHER THINGS TO DO TO MAKE EASY PROFIT [u]

*Go to WW’s and bid in stacks of 10 for salvage. Place a maximum bid of 20 per piece and walk away. When you get all 10 bids for that salvage, take them to the NPC and sell them all. Boom…instant influence. It may not be a LOT but if done multiple times, it will add up very fast.

*When you are doing missions, street sweeping, etc… and you receive a GOOD recipe drop, you can buy the salvage and craft it for even cheaper, because you are not buying the recipe from WWs. For Instance: I was running a mission and got a level 50 Crushing Impact Dam/Rech recipe. I went to WWs and bought the salvage and crafted it. Posted it for 3 million and 2 hours later made a big profit.

*There are more things to provide us with income now with I-9 than any other issue prior. Sell off TOs, DOs, SOs, Base Salvage, Inspirations, Invention Salvage, and Invention Recipes when not needed. You can hardly do a mission now without lots of things dropping into your inventory.

I hope this guide will help everyone out and give you all some insight as to how players like myself are capitalizing on the market. There are many other ways out there to make money, all you have to do is give it a shot. Good Luck crafters and hope to see some positive feedback that you have taken from this guide.

I'm sorry, I really hate to say this. Please, decolor as much as your post as you can. It's INCREDIBLY jarring to read on the hero-blue forums. The red colors especially. It is very painful to read, but it looks like it could be useful if I could read it. I know it's too late now to edit it, probably...and on checking it's pretty painful to read on the villain-red forums as well. But I honestly can't read it, and I'm not very color/contrast sensitive compared to people I know.

It appears on my screen a lot easier to read with orange/red than it does with white...maybe its just me?

**EDITED: took a lot of color out

good guide.

reads fine for me using the CoH forum skin...the red is a bit much, but the yellow and orange look fine.

Awesome guide! I read this guide Friday and followed your advice over the weekend. I started with less than 5 million influence... Now I have 30 million influence, plus much more in crafted enhancements waiting to be sold. I picked up 6 of the HO's that I needed really bad (3 Cyto's and 3 Membrane's) which ran me about 7-8 million a piece. So all in all I made myself probubly over 50 million influence over the weekend.

I bought some of the recipe's that you actually named specifically in your guide. I made a good bit of money on that stuff (Thunderstrike, Titanium Coating and Crushing Impact). However I found that the recipe/enhancements that you named were not selling as fast as I had hoped, sometimes my enhancements would take all day to sell.

Using your advice, I looked for ther more popular rare enhancements. In certain sets, a couple of the rare recipe's usually dont require the expensive magic salvage to craft. So I look for the 1-3 out of the popular rare sets that I can craft relatively cheap. Then I can sell them for 2-3 million influence. I try to profit around a million per sale. I found that the uncommon set that you named were only selling for 1-2 million this weekend (maybe because of the double exp).

So with your help my Scrapper is getting much closer to my fully IO'd / HO'd out build. Thank you!

My Pleasure Merovingian...

This is mostly a guide for those semi-active marketeers to help increase their profit.

I have since (way before this guide) moved on to bigger and better I/Os myself. I didnt want to give away the HUGE sellers list for the fact that It will eventually dip into my profits.

I see that you are being very smart and going out there to see what can be made for very CHEAP, and banking bigger profits from it.

Goodluck with powerselling and if you have any questions, leave me an email and I'll gladly help ya out.

This is probably why some of the mentioned I/Os didnt sell very fast:

I still own a lot of the market in those areas with those I/Os...As I "had" about 55 of those mentioned I/Os on the market over the 2x XP weekend, spread out between 3 of my alts. After the weekend, I only had a total of 9 of those I/Os left.

My more "rare" I/Os sold very well too. 4mill here, 4 mill there, some even in the double digits.

Hi,

Good guide. Easy to implement. Works well. Free money FTW!

I havent even been trying to maximise profits, just put it up for something that looks reasonable based on previous bids and wait a while. Don't be too greedy, as you said. It is even quite fun, though I can't quite believe the amounts that people are essentially paying me to craft enhancements for them.

Oh well, make hay while the sun shines.

Have you noticed any change in the speed you are acquiring money on your characters since writing the guide?

Educating the market is obviously a risk.

Anyway, once again, good guide, keep up the good work.

Cheers,
Conker

I love this guide, as I raised around 30 Mil since the first time I saw it, so thanks! I have also found out I can get about 5 mil profit on Devastation IO's at level 50. It is very, very nice.

This is completely a different subject so my results may differenciate more than others. I run my Ice/Fire/Pyre tanker on the second to highest setting. I mainly do this to farm for prestige/rares for my SG. I herd up the max around a staircase, then drop Fireball, Fire Sword Circle, and Combustion and watch them all melt. Really the setting does not matter to me at all because they die just as fast.

The only time a setting will effect you is the "recipe" drops you get. I believe if you run on heroic or the next setting above it, you have the chance of getting a lvl 48-50 drop instead of all 50 recipes.

If you start out a lowbie toon using the guide, you will be rolling in influence while YOU are filling up everyones lvl 50s with YOUR crafted I/Os.

My fire/energy tanker was worth 37million by lvl 12.

I think I see what you are saying though....Eventually a lot of the lvl 50s will fill out with completed I/O sets and the selling will fall off eventually. People hit 50 everyday though so I dont see a "complete" fall off, just a small bit.

Goodluck to money making in the future.

Lol, ok, well, want to share 1 of your HUGE sellers? I need some inf, getting 2 toons to 50 (one is 48, 1 is 43) and would love to IO them out for PvP, so, any chance you'll share some? ;p

The best advise I can give you is this:

Farm magic factions for rare salvage. (Pangeon Soil, Hamidon Goo, Prophecy, etc...) Then from here, its all in your play style. You can play the market and try to get those lvl 50 Sciroccos Dervish Acc/Dam recipes, or run "Quickie Katies" or other TFs.

Good sellers are as you have probably seen:

Luck of the Gambler (any)
Sciroccos Dervish (any)
Positrons Blast (BIG HITTER!!!!)

All of these sets you can get within a reasonable amount of time.

Your +recovery +regen I/Os are VERY RARE.....but when you get them, you hit the lottery BIG.

I play the market for all my High Dollar recipes....BUT....I have all the rare salvage to make them. So....If I buy a Sciroccos Dervish ACC/DAM for say: 1.5mill influence + Crafing 500k (since I have the rares already) and turn around and sell the I/O for 6-10 million depending on the going rate at the time.

There is your hint.

I cant STRESS ENOUGH that when you get a rare salvage NOT TO SELL IT to make that quick 2-3 million. Take it, get a good recipe, and DOUBLE your profit.

That is all.

Frozen.

Nice....what will make it even better is if you already have the salvage to craft it. If so....then all you are losing is the crafting cost and consignment fees. So if it sells for say 6million influence, you just pocketed over 5mill.

Goodluck and hope it sells high for ya.

Yep, very good advice right there. I picked up a Scirroco's Dervish the other day, had the salvage I needed to craft it... It sold for 17 million!

Although I do sell most of the rare salvage I get. It seems the price is declining slowly but surely, so I figure its best to sell now. Later on if I need the salvage to craft my own IO's it should be cheaper than when I had it and sold it.

I've noticed the best way to make inf is PATIENCE. I bought about 30 Demonic Blood Samples this week for 10-15k each, turned around and sold them all back for 50k each just a couple days later. Some people may consider it bad for the market to do that, as 'cornering' promotes bad business practices, but it's something you can do if you feel you need to.
