Frozen Horizons' Guide to getting rich quick!
Sorry for the late reply, but you are right on the money with the "be patient" part of your post.
Take your time and look around for the better deals, and you will maximize your profits.
I don't mind posting hints/tips in my guides, because If I can help out 1 person every now and then, I feel good about myself and what I have done.
I will be posting more updates soon....STAY TUNED!
That avatar is disturbing to the core, but now I have to keep checking back! Curse you!
**UPDATE**
Rare Arcane Invention Salvage
Keep or Sell?
Looking at the Market today, you may have noticed how almost all rare invention salvage (arcane) has fallen to its lowest points ever thus far. Examples: Soul Trapped Gems selling for 1-1.5mill tops, Hamidon Goo and Essence of the Furries selling for under 2mill
The list goes on.
Now you can take those nice hard to come by rares and sell them, still making a decent amount of influence from them, but wouldnt you rather still get more bang for your buck out of them?
I sure would, and I can tell you how!
Say for instance you get a Soul Trapped Gem drop while street sweeping Dark Astoria
Your first thought is to sell that bad boy, but slow down slugger
you can do even better! Now here is where you need to think outside the box for a moment. You just received a rare piece of salvage for FREE, didnt cost you a dime, Ill emphasize again
FREE Now, do some research on wiki or other websites that will give you a list of all recipes and what salvage is required to craft them.
Example: Touch of Death: Chance for Energy Proc. This recipe requires a Soul Trapped Gem to craft it, as well as some inexpensive pieces. Now go to WWs and place some lowball bids for that recipe (say 100-200k). It may take a while, sometimes 1-2 days or more, but remember
BE PATIENT. Once you have obtained the recipe and the salvage, go craft it. Now lets take a moment to add this up.
Estimated Costs
200k-Recipe: Touch of Death: Chance for Energy
15k-Salvage needed to craft the I/O
75-150k Crafting Cost
Worst case scenario from this example, you will spend around 375k-400k to craft that I/O. As it stands right now, this particular I/O is selling for (average for all levels of this I/O) roughly 3-4mill.
Now which is better? Selling the Soul Trapped Gem for 1-1.5mill
or selling a crafted I/O using that Soul Trapped Gem and making 3-4 mill?
There are MANY recipes out there that require rare salvage to make, and instead of holding onto them, they sell those recipes for DIRT CHEAP.
Moral of this Update: Next time you get a rare salvage drop, think about holding onto it for crafting reasons and make yourself some extra cashflow on the market!
Im Frozen Horizon saying: Craft Sell Make Money!
Tune in next week to learn how to bake an Apple Pie using Arcane Powder and Pangeon Soil!
Wow... and I thought I had a good way to make inf....
Thanks for the great guide Now I know how Ill be able to buy all my IOs for my FA/SS Tank
Bumping this thread up a bit. Lots of new forum users posting lately and starting threads about easy ways to gain influence.
My guide has helped many, many, many players and I hope to continue giving more advice.
Check all the pages for all the updates that have been made in the past. Everything in this thread still works on a daily basis, you just have to be a little more patient with some of the tricks more than others.
The market is a bit harder to play now than it was when it first went live, but there is still influence to be made. I will post more updates as soon as I can verify that they work.
Your friend in the money making business,
FH
Fantastic guide! I believe this will definately make life much, much easier! Thank you once again!
A really good idea where buying IO's is concerned is to plan ahead. If you know which powers you'll be getting, when you'll be getting them, and how you'll slot them, it can save you a TON of money. For example, I already have 2 Full Level 50 sets of Red Fortune for my SR Scrapper when she hits level 47. Each set only cost me 60K because I only bid 10K a piece on each. And these are not Recipes, these are the fully crafted enhancements. The only drawback is that it takes a REALLY long time. It took about two weeks of the bids sitting there in the auction house but little by little, I got them all and at 10K each, that's a steal! When I hit 50 I'll have all the sets I need and it will have cost me less than 600K. I'm serious, this works. Give it a try. You just need to plan ahead and then be patient. Oh, and have an enhancement storage in your base, too.

I'm n00b with my highest toon not quite 40 yet. I really appreciate all the good advice in this guide. I have spent minimal game time on trying to make Inf, but what I picked up here has helped me afford all the IO sets I really wanted to get, while still having 15M in the bank. Not bad considering I had only a few 100K and no understanding of Wents before I read the guide. Thanks!!!
Just curious... based on some of the sell rates/prices you noted, you must have amassed a staggering (to me, anyway) amont of Inf. You can only spend so much on IOs and costumes before you're decked out as much as you can be. Once that's accomplished, what do you do with all that Inf?

Heh.....Influence will never dry up in CoH, and you will always want more. Once you hit lvl 50, eventually you will want to try something else out. What I do is roll alts and deck them out starting around lvl 15 or so. Having your first lvl 50 be your "Sugar Daddy" is a NICE plus to rolling brand new alts. I may not be the richest hero in CoH, or even the top 100 richest at that, but I CAN tell you I have made pretty close to 1.5billion from just the market and have 7 alts completely decked out with I/Os from lvl 24+.
Keep raking in that influence while you can, you will need it "sometime" down the road.....Trust me.
PS....Pre-Gratz to your first lvl 50!
great guide! My problem is I found it too late and most of the plans aren't working as well as I assume they once did. an example is while looking for the mentioned set recipes I found they had all been bought I know you have fresh ways to get rich. share one with me please

Is this guide going to be either update/redone for I11?
Bumping this thread for all you new players out there.
I haven't updated in a while because not many have caught onto my strategies yet. Once it is infiltrated more, I will post so everyone can get their feet wet before it stablizes.

Trying to follow this guide, I've been running radio missions in PI for almost entirely CoT/Carnival of Shadows to get the Arcane Salvage. I've been selling off the common IO recipes and crafting the uncommom and rares. I have about a half dozen IOs on the market now that I posted for exactly one million influence, and I've had them out there for a week. No sales.
The only money I've made so far is by defeating enemies pretty much.

You can also go after the CoT in the Shadow Shard. They drop Magic Salvage as well

As I have said in the past, this use to be a Glory Hole for everyone to make influence fast. This is not so much the case anymore though. I can still sell stuff on a daily basis using these techniques, but it is not like it use to be.
Lowbies can get a few sells in here and there and pretty much set them up until lvl 50 buying SOs with extra to spare easily...But if you are looking to become a Billionaire off these methods, you are a bit too late.
Take my advise and many other WentWorths gurus out there and experiment with different things. Trust me, there are still quite a few ways to make the big influence, you just have to play around a bit.
Goodluck on your selling.

So then are you saying that your guide should be retired?

No. Why? Because anyone new that comes here and reads it can make influence this way.
I still sell all the I/Os listed in my guide and still sell TONS every week. Yes, some sit for a week, and some sell as soon as I post it. Look at "how many" of the same level I/O you are about to sell. If there are 75 for sell, then odds are you will be waiting a week or so for it to sell....unless you price "lower" than the rest. If sells are 1.5mill for your I/O in the last 5 history, then post it for 14,999,980 and you will increase your odds of selling faster....Its not rocket science.
Patience is key...If you expect to make a killing this way right of the bat, then you are going to be disappointed. If you are a "lowbie" looking to produce your first 1-5mill and have the patience to wait a week or so for sells, then you will be set until lvl 50 with SOs and if you watch it right, you can have some good I/Os as well.
I get /tells every week saying thank you for the guide, etc.....Many stating they are (example: lvl 8) sitting on 8mill influence because they took some advice and tried it out.
It's far from going into retirement thats for sure.
Great guide!
Followed your advice and i'm now sitting on over 28 mil on one toon and upwards of 15 - 20 mil on 5 others. I don't have to worry about anything i need to buy again lol
Thanks Again!!!
If your gonna play follow the leader just make sure the leader is taking you where you want to go.

DAmn, I just can't seem to get it. Sometime ago yes, but the recipes mentioned among others aren't just what they used to be... the recipes sometimes are more expensive than the enhances... I'm having problems except on my crazy TF [censored] toons.
Frozen_Horizon, I still find your guide very useful. I imagine any shortcomings are due to lack of observing the market properly, or lack of patience. Your guide is the most helpful that I've read.
One thing that makes it difficult for me to analyze the market for some items is that it only shows the last 5 items. Is there anyway to get more visibility of prices for certain items? Hard to see any pricing trends based on only the last transactions.
Frozen thank you so much for this guide. I worked for about a month trying to get 100mil to buy some IOs. Now I feel stupid because using your guide I doubled that in 3 days. Even months after you originally posted it the guide still works great.
Also for all the people having problems, try using different Sets then the ones he mentioned. Those arent the only sets that go for big. I even made a nice 5mil profit off a purple. Just look around, spend some time at WWs, and do the math. You will get money FAST.
Awesome guide. I tried it myself and cleared 15 mil the first day (I did use my lvl 50 that already had a good amount of inf before I started) but it worked like a charm.
It is refreshing to see someone actually sharing some strategies to help lower levels get some Inf for a change. It is so sad the way some players can find out a cool strategy to make influence, and then while keeping it to themselves act all high-and-mighty " I figured this out I am soooo smart, i am keeping it to myself ha ha ha..."
Fact is, while some of these strategies may be affected by others finding out about it.." Buy for 300 then respecc.", others are always good... I have been looking at enhancements that sell in the 1 to 2 million inf range, then looked up the recipes it takes to make them... I have found that while the enhancement sells for 2 Million, the recipe itself sells for a paltry 4 or 5k (After making sure none of the salvage needed is rare. ) I go craft... Iplace 2 or 3 enhancers up and they will have sold overnight... This oppurtunity is almost always available somewhere if you take the time to look for it.
Anyway in closing... I used to arbitrage... Now I find I can almost make millions at will if I take the time to just look, Now that I know exactly what to look for.
