I started out with nothing and this guide has helped me get 10 million with just casually playing over the past two weeks.

As an example, today I took 2 new alts to lvl 3. Now here is the funny part.

Just for giggles, I sent out a broadcast saying: "Anyone have 5000 influence they could spare a poor white guy?....I will return the influence owed 10x within the next 10 minutes"

A fellow hero under atlas broadcasted back and said: "Ill take that challenge!"

So he gifted me 5k and I said: "Be back in 10 mins flat"

I went straight to WWs and opened up the Crafted I/Os page and went straight to the lvl 45 Common I/Os. I scrolled down to the "Disorient Duration" I/Os....Selling for 300 a peice.
Bought 8 for 300 and 2 for 350...A total of 3100 influence. I then headed straight for G-City to cash in my first Vetran Respec.

Boom.....An instant 1,734,000 influence. Ran straight back to Atlas WWs and bought 10 more of the exact same...all for 400 inf this time for a total of 4000 influence.

Went back to G-City and burnt my 2nd respec....Boom....Another instant 1,734,000 influence banked.

Then I ran back to Atlas to repay the good willed hero back his 50,000 influence I promised him.

I finished in under 9 minutes doing both respecs. With leveling my alt up to lvl 3, It took me roughly 12 minutes to do so. Overall est. time: 21 minutes to profit over 3.4mill **I rolled a fire/energy blaster**

After that run, I deleted him and rerolled again. Respec'd 2 times selling the exact same I/Os as the first 2 respecs. 1,734,000 influence both times again.

Grabbed an SG mate and transfered to my lvl 32 Fire/Energy tanker and was over 6 million influence richer!

This can be done very easily...You just gotta take that little time to do it. Badgers and Crafters stock up WWs with these I/Os and sell em cheap....Take advantage of it.

this all assumes you have veteran respecs to burn. if you don't, this is absolutely impossible.

Patience is key...If you expect to make a killing this way right of the bat, then you are going to be disappointed.

Then maybe you should rename the guide?

Maybe to "Frozen Horizons' Guide to getting rich slow, with patience!"

I would say it is quick. Using the methods described here I have over 100 million on my level 30 tanker, and I only play casually.

Ill try your guide out again... Didnt work to well for me the first time so ill try once more..But like you said gota try other tatics..plus now everyone knows how to get money from WW. profits might go down, the prices for recipes will go up.

i tried it again today. and got the same results, infact i only have about 16k left of influence. maybe its just me?

You might be trying to profit on things that offer little in return or nothing compared to what you used to be able to get. I am slowly starting to learn some things. For me, big gains can be made if you have patience. I cant make a lot quickly but I can do it over time. I hope to pick up a bit more as my learning advances.

I'll weigh in here.

Great freaking guide. It doesn't give you a cookbook format given current market conditions, but has some great ideas to get you started. My L50 Spines/Dark that I hardly play anymore has been dabbling in the market and made 130M in about a month and a half of casual work at the market. 5-10 minutes at a time a couple times a week.

My Level 14 Blaster started with 24K to his name and (completely solo) now has about 36M in the bank after working the market off and on a couple times a week for about 5-10 minutes time commitment per session.

Not tons of money by peoples' standards currently, but more than enough to comfortably purchase IO recipes and not have to worry about influence for the near future.

As a casual gamer, this allows me to spend my limited time online playing and just having fun without scrimping and saving to afford new enhancements as I level. For me, this guide set my feet on a road to financial security within CoH. I'm pleased and very content with the results.

There's nothing wrong with the guide that a little thinking, analysis, and understanding of basic economics can't overcome. Use it as a springboard and go from there.

How about some advice on how to figure out what recipe groups are hot? I checked some of the examples given in the guide, and none of them seemed to offer much in the way of profit opportunity, with the crafted enhancements going for about the same as the recipes + salvage + crafting. Obviously, what's hot-or-not will change with market pressures.

What, specifically, do we look for?

I know over time thing change or the market gets flooded with a IO and price drop's. I played for over 2 years and seen the wings go for 5+ mill down to 5-50K. As drop rates change and what common build are out there, may make for different things being hot. Check the sell value everything to see if it worth it, and dont forget the cost to craft the item. I seen poeple screaming at WW when they for got about that .. or hit 1 tomany 0 when they bought something.

I would generally assume that anything that is listed in a public forum such as this as a great way to make inf, will quickly become a mediocre/poor way to make inf, simply because so many people will jump on the opportunity.

The vast majority of the crafted IOs only really have room for one or two toons to craft and sell. Any more and your turnover suffers and prices fall as people hustle to be at the 'front' of the queue for new customers.

You need to take the time to sit and have a look at the recipies and crafted IO prices, taking in to account a few factors:

-What salvage is required to complete the recipe?
-How much does the recipe cost to craft?
-Is this an IO that lots of people will want, giving decent turnover?
-How much are people paying for the crafted IO?

Ideally, you want something that will be usable with lots of ATs and sets, not require any expensive, rare magical salvage and give you a large profit margin. I realise that this all sounds obvious.

Hope this is useful.

This is exactly right. I discovered this guide a couple months after it was first posted, and some of the buy-recipe-craft-IO-for-profit tactics worked reasonably well for me, although not as well as stated in the OP. I did it for awhile, then stopped and checked back a month or so later and the IOs I was actually using weren't nearly as profitable as they had been.

I'm a little too lazy to spend too much time researching the market, but I would assume it's just a matter of taking the time to find a new niche, or at least wait until the formerly hot IOs become hot again.

Ill even say it.. many people look at this forum so they get anxious and go to buy some of those Io's but now those things are high priced, just for the recipe sells for 1-3 mil anymore.. all i got to say is for the most part of Frozen's guide is right like about killing Magic foes to get the good salvage, and recipes.. i looked at what he had is selling quick then looked them up in the game and the recipes selling for alot more then what alot of people can offord. So my suggestion is if you get any recipes from killing some badies, or getting it at WW. look how much each salvage will cost (some people just look up the enhancement price then try to buy the salvage but look to find that its alot more then what they bargined for..) so after you look up the prices of the salvage, check out how much this enhancement will sell for!! If you notice that the enhancement sells for 1 mil or higher go ahead and buy the salvage you need for it! Craft it, and then sell it!! but heres a little hint.. alot of things that are sum what priced higher then 1 mil it will take you a bit to sell it.. but believe me someone will buy it, just like Frozen Said patience is the key to WW.. and after a while you'll probably catch on to selling things and what not.. and eventually you will have you're own little secret about how you make your money!

From nothing to 300 mil in 2 1/2 months. Running a few task forces, and about 5 purple drops helped too. This guide is a good place to start.

I don't know if this will help anyone out or not but.......
If I ever have some spare time I will just go all out on a very rare very expensive recipe, craft it, then leave it on the market for a week or so.
This works well for me as by 50 I can now afford to do so and as I only play weekends I can stick 2 or 3 of these on Sunday then get the infamy back on Friday.
However, there is a downside in that the prices can vary greatly in that the price is high anyway. I lost 15mil due to this. This can get bad if you are actually forced to take it off the market which can cost like 10mil sometimes.
This often is also a slower process than the other methods that have been mentioned.
I actually got to this stage from doing almost exactly what has been stated. Only I experimented with the items and found different ones that suited me better.
Keep up the good work!
