Badge Questions

Ok so upgrading from CoH to CoH DVD will give my characters the ViP Accolade ? Excellent!
[/ QUOTE ] OK so patience is not one of my redeeming qualities, sorry if I missed this in my quick skim thru this thread but, is this a new-soon-to-come thing..I have a few alts that would love vip but my upgrade to CoV dvd addition did no such thing
[/ QUOTE ]
To get the badge you need the CoH DVD not the CoV DVD. CoV gave the Arachnos emblem and the special helm. The CoH gave the badge and a special cape.

Posi, there has been great debate on how to earn the time badges in PVP. Can you once and for all explain the do's and don'ts of how to earn it.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's no debate, there's just a lot of false info out there. It's not helped by the fact that they may/may not have been stealth fixed, or rebroken at any given point.
When I did it, it was simple enough. 5 contiguous (look up the difference between contiguous and continuous if you need to) hours in the zone for a given toon. No travel, no door missions. I logged out for real life or to switch toons with no problems. I was not disconnected by the game accidentally. I DID need to logout then come back to get the "Badge Earned" messages.

I would like to know if Bug Hunter will be awarded to those who participated in Beta.
[/ QUOTE ]I would like to know as well.
I participated in beta, and I didn't even get a T-shirt.

i participated in both betas and even was on the preorder for both...still waiting on my prestige power from COH a year and a bunch later...i have given up hope on this...which is sad...really sad
Question for you, Positron.
Last night, two friends and I got together in Nerva Archipeligo and completed Mu'Drakhan's "Destroy Circle Rituals" mission. The goal of this mission is to defeat the Circle AV, Baphomet. Due to the new patch, he was only an Elite Boss, but you said above that this would make no difference in awarding badges or not.
In any case, we succesfully completed the mission, thinking we'd get the Demon Slayer badge or a CoV equivalent after smacking him down, but received nothing. I opened a petition, and received a response indicating, essentially, that Baphomet awards a Demon Slayer badge in City of Heroes, but not in City of Villains.
Is this the case, and is it intentional? If so, fair enough. If not, any way my friends and I will get our badge? (If not, not a huge deal- we can just do the mission again when one of the two of them gets it.)
[ QUOTE ]
So, what do they consider extraordinary? 1700 play hours on my main isn't extraordinary? Having 295 badges collected? 38 of a possible 43 souvenirs?....Again, just a hazy thing that can number any amount of "extraordinary" events, would like more info about what qualifies.
[/ QUOTE ]
I read early on that bug hunter applies to any bug reported that requires them to bring down servers immediately to fix, or something of similar importance that needed an immediate rollback or change. It's certainly not awarded for things you listed like time logged, alot of souvenirs/badges etc, as they have nothing to do with bugs and lots of people have similar counts
[ QUOTE ]
Too many pages to read, but has anybody touched on the fact that CoV has bars for badges without text saying what the heck the bar is for? CoH was an explaination why doesn't CoV?
To me this is completely worthless. I look at a list and see oh look here it seems I'm over halfway to something, sure wish I knew what that something was so I could continue doing it
[/ QUOTE ]
not all CoH badges have a explanation, though if you do your research, you'll know what badge you're working on, kinda like for my tankers' dmg taken badges, since they're in a row I know what they are already :P
but I do see your point, I have some progression bars almost full and not sure what they are for, and others that will say it's for defeating whatever enemy :P

For COH, I use the vidiotmaps badge checklist excel file, the achievements are in the same order as in game, so it's really easy to know what you're close on.
For COV, well, I'll be no help there, it's so darn buggy over on that side right now
ok, now its time for a stupid qusetion, ive been plaing for a month and have no idea, what badges are for, when i ask others, its as if im from mars. Help!
Badges are _mostly_ for the sake of having badges. But there are some execptions.
There are Super Group badges, that unlock things for your SG base.
There are accolades, which are generally earned by earning several other badges, that give additional powers, or unlock costume parts, or let you respec your character.
On the CoV side of the game, there are several contacts that require you to have a specific badge before they talk to you.
The gladiator badges let you use the gladiator matches in the arena.
Hope that answers your question.
Putting this in the form of a question:
Will you please (re)consider grouping badges by type rather than by order of introduction? While the current format may be more convenient for the coders, I submit that most of the end-users neither know nor care when a given badge was introduced, and simply want to see all of their debt badges (for example) displayed consecutively.
My characters at Virtueverse

somewhat, thx
Will the Alkaloid or rez power from the Master Mind Poison set ever start giving credit for the healing badges or the super group healing badge again?
Will the Tsoo Sorcers above level 29 or Ancient Spirits above 29, ever count for badges any time soon?
Will the Art work for the Shadow Shard task forces, or the two Villain respec Trials ever have their Art worked fixed or will they continue to be using the exploration badge art work which i assume is the default?
Will the encounters in certain villain zones start spawning the correct mob types like for example Bone Daddys in Mercy Island or Master Illsuionists in St. Martial so that the badges tied to the encounter types can be gotten easier then having to abuse the system of missions and continualy reset specific missions over and over and therefore cause server slowing?
Will deathsurge ever award a badge?
Two things, Positron -
First - The hero PvP badges have text that's written from the point of view of the villains. When are we going to get hero versions of the shared badges?
Second - My hero got Agent-Provacateur after doing one mission in Warburg. This happened AFTER the latest patch. According to the badge text, this is a 50-mission badge.
It might be significant that the hero in question had accepted only one mission in Warburg before this, exited the mission unfinished, and logged out in another zone instead of completing it. In both cases (the incomplete mission and the mission that awarded the badge), the missions were Hero-side "Defend the Supply Depot" missions.
The most missions this hero had run in other PvP zones was two. Nothing like fifty.

I got WebMaster (the five hour Warburg badge) out of the blue. I had certainly spent much time in Warburg but I hadn't made them all "contiguous" blocks of time. I'd gone to other zones, done non-PvP missions, etc... I was just fighting in the WEB and the badge got awarded.
From my experience, if you spend five hours, you get it. It doesn't matter how the blocks of time are broken up. Granted, though, that running missions in a PvP zone probably doesn't count. I'd say that you need to spend the five hours in the outdoor portion of the zone.

Why isn't there a visual badge tracker for Cold Hearted?
[/ QUOTE ]
You only get the badge Cold Hearted when you complete the mission for (I forget his name, he's a member of the Mooks who has a thing against the Council and he has orange hair, sunglasses, and likes to stand in front of the RICinema near the Arena in PO) one of the contacts you get in Port Oakes.
The mission is getting vengence on a person the contact thought of as an uncle who ended up betraying the contact's family by giving secrets to the Council. When you complete the mission, you are awarded the badge.

Passport, I have it on live ...
1) What is the true intention of this badge. [The Pigg hackers have theories but we deserve the truth]
2) Since this a bug can I trade it for Isolator
[/ QUOTE ]
It's a bug that some players have Passport. They shouldn't expect to keep it.
It is a badge that was made in anticipation of Server Transfers. I don't know the schedule of when/if transfers are going to happen, and even if this badge will be given as part of the transfer anymore. Passport has been around a LONG time, and many things have changed in that time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Some folks will howl at me for that, but: please do not award it for undergoing a Server Transdfer. You'll only SWAMP yourselves with people asking to be transferred - solely and exclusively so they can have that badge!!!
I've a question about the SG beacons. Most of the members of the main SG I'm a part of have most if not all the explore badges (in CoH). I ran around Atlas with my level 44 Blaster with Superspeed and Hover to where all the badges were while in SG mode. No Atlas beacon badge.
So I'm wondering, to get a Beacon badge, would you have to avoid getting Explore badges until you are a part of an SG with an active base to earn those badges (or find some new guy or gal to join up with the SG and drag them around to the different Explore badge sites)?
Sometimes, especially when a player doesn't know where the explore badges are may inadvertantly run across them while running from one spot to another. Would that ruin the chances of that person working on the SG beacon badges when they join up later on? For CoV, there's the one badge that you can't avoid if you get a mission entrance in that one pit....

That's Stone Cold. Coldhearted is a badge awarded for killing 250 CoT cold demons - Hordelings or Hellfrosts.

Yep, that's how it works. You have to be in supergroup mode when you are awarded the badges.
On another note, beacon badges are only available for hazard/trial zones.

you do NOT have to avoid them. If you get the badge while not in SG mode, you can then turn sg mode on and revisit the area. To get credit. I have done this with 2 vgs I started.

I believe you are refering to the Stone Cold mission badge. It is given from a PO contact named Angelo Vendetti and the mission title is Deal with Niles Worthington You also get a Mook Gladiator badge with the mission.

Actually I must correct you on both notes:
1. You can revisit the exploration badges with any toon in sg mode, but I believe you have to click on the marker (yes it's wierd but that's how we did it in BETA when this issue came up)
2. You can get beacons for any zone as long you collect all badges in each zone in sg mode (this is not comulative last I checked - meaning you can't send 5 sg mates to different markers and get the beacon).
Currently my base has the SI and PO beacons and has all beacons available for all zones from MI to NA including the PVP zones BB and SC.

I dont know if it is posted or not but I really dont want to look through the tons and tons of posts for it but I was wondering how you unlock the first longbow warden for gladiator matches I know the second is pvp rep but no clue on the first one

The confusion lays betwee CoH and CoV. You are correct that in CoV every zone has a beacon, but in CoH that's not the case.
