Manticore had the best sense of humor

As we were fighting the player controlling Manticore in the end of beta event, he started letting loose some smack talk. Pretty funny. Asked who wanted the "enema arrow" and then plugged his Web of Arachnos book.

Glad you enjoyed it. After all, what is a good super-powered battle without witty banter.
If you think I've got a smart mouth, you should spend some time with Sister Psyche.

My favorite Sister Psyche comments were "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful, hate me because I'm kicking your butt" -and- "The teleport to the hospital is ready for departure, I'm Sister Psyche and I'll be your cruise director".
LOL

Those were good, but I loved Pos, Synapse, and States' dialogue the best.
Someone: STATES IS HERE!
States: No, no - I'm over THERE
States: LET'S DO THIS!
Pos: LEEEEEROY!
Synapse: States, I'm in trouble here!
Synapse: One guy is stabbing me in the back, and the other keeps vomiting on me!
The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure. --- Thomas Jefferson

War Witchand Ravenstorm were two of the ones I didn't get a chance to see during the event. Same with Ms. Liberty and Agents Darwin, Bucher and Abbot whove I've been told were there also.
I did on the other hand get to see Back Street Brawler, Positron, Synapse and Statesman, who I all got to tango with for a bit. Agents Jax and Snow I got to fight as well, but only saw Agent Hyde as at the time I didn't realize that it wasn't just on of the NPC AIs. I almost got to tangle with Manticore, but as I mentioned my computer crashed.
All in all it was a great event. For me it started out a little poorly, as I seemed to be in all the wrong places, and my underpowered computer was really giving me a hard time. Despite that I had a great time.
t would have been nice to dance with the Agent who was dancing with a few of the players afterwards before flying off. Apparently I just missed it. Well, either the developers are going to have to have more events like this in the future if I'm going to get another chance to hang with them like this again, or I'm going to have to get them to hire me.

I still think the whole thing woulda been funnier if every zone had just been flodded with level 50 longbows and swept clean.
Then I would've been able to stand up here and say, "see?!?! I TOLD YA the end was nigh - there it bloody went!"
Instead I can only say, "well... we sure showed them heroes what's what, eh?"
I'd prefer to have been right than victorious, but that's just me.
[/ QUOTE ]
there lvl didnt matter/ i saw a lvl 5 take aout a 47 longbow.... looked like all the invaders had the monster code engaged
Hmph, at least Manticore stood and fought, Sister Psyche kept turning on Force Bubble and running away, I swear I chased her from one end of Mercy to the other and back again. Although with her mind powers, the thoughts she might of been picking up from the 200+ villains chasing her, probably were really disturbing...
Although when we cornered Synapse (Mako) and he cried for Posi's help, that was really funny...until Posi ran in and Atomic Blasted us. :O)
Didja enjoy the snap kick to the junk from mah stalker?
I still didn't get to confess my love to Sister Psyche cause I was to busy beating on M.

That, right there, is all it would take to make a world of difference in the game. A little witty banter from your opponent. Or even some not so witty banter.
All the fights with the NPC opponents go the same way - they may say something the first time they see you, but after that it's all robotic AI stuff. One mission is very much like the next.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, I've noticed that CoV does a bit better in that department. I don't recall the specific words used, but in one fight against a mystically-inclined opponent, my foe had several lines he spoke during the combat, things like:
"I will blast you with elemental fire"
"You have no chance against me"
Then, as I defeated him, he said:
"Oh"
I thought it was funny... Then, while trying to steal a list of villains to be targetted by the vigilante group I was fighting, the leader was badmouthing me, with comments like:
"You'll have to hit harder than that if you want to make next year's list"
And when I defeated him, his tune changed a bit:
"Maybe you did earn your spot on the list after all..."

That Web of Arachnos comment was my favorite, and I managed to get a screenshot of it with the UI up for posterity.
Except for the lag, I had a ton of fun last night on my Ice/Kinetic Corruptor named Ice Princess. I think I got to speed debuff and throw ice at every single hero and agent at some point over the course of the night.

It's been introduced in CoV. Fighting Barracuda is particularly engaging for this reason.
[/ QUOTE ]And "Duke" Moredeanor of the Hellions... more or less....
[/ QUOTE ]
The duke did? Meh, first time I did that mission I ended up beating him before I realized he was even there. Second time(got DC'ed and had to do it again), I saw him but he dropped quickly to my ninjas.
As for the dev chat, I enjoyed some of the banter, even to the point of trying to keep in character during most of it. However, we only saw Manticore(new favorite Dev hero after reading the CoV comics) and Statesman. Wa kinda bummed at how often State ran though. Called him a few names over broadcast for it. The "enema arrow" comment was quite amusing for Manticore though.
As for the agents, are we sure that they were dev controled? I started getting the feeling every so often that they were AI. If they weren't, could they have been granted some more banter? It didn't take more than 3 minutes for them to start repeating...
Plus the fact that the accursed Agent Jor would drop, and reappear in 5 seconds multiple times. That go annoying....
That really was a great event. I ended up fighting Back Alley Brawler and Synapse all night long, with a few sightings of Ravenstorm thrown in for good measure.
I'm just extremely glad I never got Thunderous Blasted by Synapse.
He may have had the best sense of humor, but Statesman hit poor little Lambchop so hard it knocked her and the computer out, locked up and had to reboot! Guess my system conned as grey to him too.
I did enjoy spitting acid all over Posi and Ravenstorm with my Ninja/Poison MM. It makes me feel good that I got to debuff 'em both a little before I lagged out and gave up all hope for the night.

Actually that particular mission he trash talks what he's targetting. Highly amusing for a MM when he states 'Maybe you did earn your spot on the list after all Battle Drone....'

Here you go:
Longbow:
Ms. Liberty put Longbow together for this kind of job.
Youre all going back to the Zig where you belong.
I have multiple targets! Send immediate back up to my position.
Coordinate efforts and provide support to all Freedom Phalanx members.
Im going to establish a strong point here.
Looks like its time to earn our pay.
Round up as many villains as you can. We need to end this.
This is Statesmans War, but we are here to help him fight it.
Activity is rising in this sector, we need reinforcements.
Statesman:
Longbow assistance requested at this position immediately.
Its time for you to go back to prison where you belong.
Following Lord Recluse is not a wise career move.
It doesnt matter how many of you there are, the heroes will triumph today.
As long as I am alive you will never take Paragon City.
The Rogue Isles will soon be free of Recluses influence.
I wont let this breakout go unanswered.
I will fight until every villain on the Rogue Isles is brought to justice.
Manticore:
I should have brought a Wyvern Strike Team instead of these Longbow yahoos.
Theres a nice cell waiting for you back in Paragon City.
Who are you, Makos newest chum?
Another bulls-eye, this is like shooting fish in a barrel.
Let me show you what a real archer can do.
One at a time or all together, it really doesnt matter.
Dont worry; Ive got enough arrows for everyone.
Are you all really that anxious to be the first one to get the enema arrow?
You'll be able to read all about this when I turn in my report on the Web of Arachnos...coming this fall.
Positron
This armor is made to keep me from leaking out; do you really think your feeble attacks are going to bust it in?
Nothing I cant handle
All you villains are grey to me, no XP.
You must be one of those criminal Masterminds everyone is talking about. Lets see who has the bigger brain.
What do I fear? Having an intellectual conversation with a Brute. All that SMASH talk gets repetitive.
Feels good to stretch my legs after a long hard day of standing around Blyde Square.
If you see Black Scorpion, tell him I know of at least three major flaws in his armor.
Synapse:
Lets do this!
I need some Longbow help, fast!
Now I know why you villains are always so cranky; there isnt a decent place to eat within miles.
If I get my hands on you, Ill run you back to the Zig myself.
I dont remember the last time I saw so much ugly in one place.
I cant be everywhere, but I can be in two places at the same time.
I bet Scirocco taught you clowns everything you know about honor.
Can we hurry this up, theres a game on later I want to watch.
Sister Psyche:
Cmon boys, give me a hand with these bad guys.
Time for you monkeys to head back to the Zoo.
How many of you losers are working for Ghost Bimbo?
I cant seem to find any minds to read around here.
The weaker the will, the easier it is to control.
Dont hate because Im beautiful, hate me because Im kicking your butt!
The teleport to the hospital is ready for departure, Im Sister Psyche and Ill be your cruise director.
After reading your mind I realized that actually is the best you can do.
Back Alley Brawler:
"Let's see what you got, youngster."
"Man, villains these days ain't nothin!"
"You can back down, or I can put you down!"
"Hope I didn't interrupt your island vacation."
"You think this is bad, you should see what I do without the gloves!"
"Welcome to villain-busting old school style. I'll be your teacher today. You can call me Mr. Brawler."
"I beat worse than you back when bell-bottoms were in style!"
"I been bustin' villains for 30 years, and I'm still not impressed by any of you."
War Witch:
Nice. This place is a hole. Lets do some street sweeping.
Little help here?
Oh its SO on!
You picked the wrong side of the law, punk!
Dozens to one. Nice odds. I can deal with that.
Yes yes youre terrifying. Shut up and fight.
If I were a gambling girl, Id say the odds of you winning this fight are slim to none.
Dont make me get all corporeal on you.
Ravenstorm:
Get out of my way!
Ive seen tougher in Paragon CIty!
You Arachnos wannabes need to be put back in your place, the Zig!
Back off!
This pain is nothing compared to what your leaders will feel!
This will hurt you more than it will hurt me!
It will take more than what you have to bring me down!
Whats the matter? Scared of the dark?
Ms. Liberty:
Now this is why I started Longbow!
When Im done here well have to hang a No Vacancy sign outside the Ziggurat.
You guys are just lucky you got me instead of Statesman, he isnt very happy today.
So how are you enjoying your work for Lord Feckless so far?
This is Ms. Liberty requesting immediate Longbow assistance.
Looks like its time to take out the trash.
If the game is survival of the fittest, I dont like your odds.
I am here to make sure you bozos are never a threat to Paragon City again.
Cheers,
Sean

Saw him use those 3, didn't hear his partner - Ms. Liberty say anything except "oof" as she was being hit...
So at the very end was there a big event or did the servers just log everyone out?
Will there be a justification of what happened tonight? Like all villains were arrested? And where the heck were the signature villains? Why did we have to do all the dirty work?
I seen one line from the heroes which Was Synapse running around like a chicken with its head cut off with roughly 100 MM pets chasing him. All the While screaming
SISTER PSYCHE HELP ME!!!
hehe... and thats all I got to see from the lag
What are Ms. Liberty's powers?
Did she use the sword?

This event was a response to Operation Destiny. Statesman does not take kindly to Lord Recluse breaking so many villains out of the Ziggurat. The Freedom Phalanx and Longbow were pushed back but i am sure even more heroes will soon take up the battle against the villains of the Rogue Isles.
[ QUOTE ]
What are Ms. Liberty's powers?

I don't know what her powers are, but I doubt she used that sword. It doesn't belong to her. It belongs to Hero_1 and she's just "Holding" it for him. You might recognize the name of the sword. It's Excalibur.

My favorite moment was Sister Psyche confusing my brute... it gave me so many targets to SMASH!!!, I dont know if her player recieved them or not, but I sent tells BEGGING to be confused.

I think Sister Psyche referring to a certain villain as "Ghost Bimbo" takes the cake for me.
[/ QUOTE ]
That one and her comment of "There are no minds to read here!".
Was quite fun all around.
