I even saw him using Crippling Asskick. Even geko wouldn't take that power and he designed it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually Foreshadow uses Thunder Kick, followed by Dragon's Tail.
I'll say this, watching Manticore teleport into action made me respect teleport for once.
[/ QUOTE ]
It most definitely looks like Crippling Axe Kick to me. Watch very closely at 00:58, and you see the characteristic up-down strike. Heh, I saw enough of CAK before I got smart and respeced it out (for Cobra Strike, far more useful) to recognize it.
Actually, it's funny that CAK is such a terrible attack (and a level 18 one at that), because I'm told actual MA axe kicks are EXTREMELY effective at hurting your opponent...your collarbone is not after all that strong a bone.
Hmm, after watching it a few times, I'm not even sure that's the CAK we're familiar with. It's more of a downward roundhouse, but it's not Storm Kick. There's a kick before it, but it's not Thunder Kick, because it hits the Arachnos(?) guy in the stomach, not the face. Eh, maybe a little artistic license with the attacks?
EDIT: Btw, you can have teleport...after watching Ghost Widow work her voodoo (that she do), I believe Phase Shift is in my villainess's future.

Nope. Positron's a Rad/Rad Defender. He *used* to be an Energy/Energy Blaster, but changed for unknown reasons..
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh. Wait he respec'ed and changed his powersets! No fair! Or maybe he just re-rolled a new character.
[/ QUOTE ]
Aye, that's why he's been standing in Steel getting PL'd.
[ QUOTE ]
By looking at the screenshots it looks like the graphics engine is getting an upgrade. A bloom effect (I cant stand over-use of bloom personally but it looks OK here), and best of all some shader effects.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree with you I was just saying the same thing to myself...The bloom effect when over done kinda makes things look to fake or unrea(well as fake or unreal as you can get for a video game anyway lol)...I'm not a fan of it either but it does look ok and tolerable as is.
The video was awesome. I can't stop watching it lol

Manticore - The utility of Nightcrawler + the versatility of Hawkeye and Green Arrow = one bad mutha -
I mean could you imagine..... trying to hit the guy... i could imagine them doing a training room session
Foreshadow walks into the training room.
Foreshadow - this should be easy after all he's just some dude with a bow, and my kungfu is good.
Arrow comes out of nowhere Foreshadow dodges, then looks in the direction just in time to see the after lighting from the teleport
Foreshadow- Now where did he-
-Plink- Foreshadow pulls an arrow from his butt
Foreshadow - What the (turns around again and just catches a glimpse of the teleporting archer.. realizing this is going to be one long match)
On more detailed note, the animation, shots, and overall cinematography seems to have gotten better (not that they were bad before). As people have mentioned, this one felt more like a snip of a story or TV show or movie. Alot of the little things really made it work though; like the Arachnos guy wielding the club was doing a funky side-run... it looks funny but more realistic considering he was trying to smack someone with a club or Foreshadow dodging around Pos and tilting as he stops from the run.
Also, the various comic book shots (the pre-fight line up... which also had me thinking "MORTAL KOMBAT!" due to the fisty things, the glance to Foreshadow, the Manticore guard pose, many of LRs hand gestures) all added a nice dynamic that was a good blend of real response and comic bookness.

From what I've heard, Some costume options will be exclusive to CoV, and some exclusive to CoH- If you only own one game, you'll only get one or the other.
However, if you own *both* games, *all* costume options, Hero and Villian alike, will be available for the creation of heros *or* villians.
[/ QUOTE ]
That wasn't my understanding at all. Let's face it, those are some pretty evil-lookin' costume options. New _technologies_ (flowing skirts, digitigrade legs) would probably be available to both, but I think that the specific villain and hero costume options will probably be seperate...
The last thing any of us needs is a burning-skull guy covered in spikes named Lord Darkity-Skullfire begging for inf under the Atlas globe.

There's no reason you can't have both...
Recall Ally (REAL villains don't take Recall *FRIEND*... why, the very IDEA...) plus Phase Shift is a handy set of talents in PvE missions, and if it works anything the same in PvP, it'll be quite handy for base raids as well.
Personally I plan to redo my teleportin', phase shiftin' controller from CoH in CoV.
@Mindshadow
Can I just say that
A 10 minute COH movie included on the next promotional DVD/Marketing Ploy #2 is money in the bank ?
Make a movie already!
Thoughts on the video:
So, States and Pos are FLYERS, huh? The kung-fu guy doesn't seem to be using ANY special travel power, Synapse is a super-speeder, and Manny is a TPer.. And look who got there LAST ? The flyers.. well, they got that one right.
Um, how, exactly, is Uber-Spider *holding* Synapse??? By his SPINE?? Last time I saw, he didn't have any HANDLES back there... *shudder*
The big scorpion guy looks like a Tank.. and he gets knocked flat while some sharky scrapper just shrugs it of? Uh oh.
And States definitely uses ET to knock the snot out of the sword guy. That was an EM sound all the way baby. The knockback was just artistic license.
All in all, looks good, SHOW US MORE!
Aww! States and Posi and all them gettin' beat to the ground? No way that could happen! Villains are too powerful!
Nerf Villains!
-D!

While PVP may have that kind of dramatic timing when the Devs play, if the scene in that video had been played by the regular player base...
...it might go something more like this:

Kinda like Measure for Measure, this is funny and sad at the same time

The defeat was clearly Positron's fault, as is everything else.

FREEDOM CORPS ENEMY GROUP IN COV? Yes!
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, they're already playable heroes in CoH:

So I don't see why they couldn't be enemies in CoV

In the new Mark Waid CoH comic, Synapse is a MA/SR scrapper.
In the game, he's an elec/elec blaster?
So which is right?
[/ QUOTE ]
What are you basing this MA/SR assumption on? I have the issue open in front of me. He even mentions in the scene where Sis and Manti come to see him:
"Once I got free, I could use the super-speed and the electrical powers to run away from the memory."
I don't see him tossing off roundhouse kicks or anything similar anywhere in the book. *Shrug*
Anyone else catch Manticore dropping some kind of cloaking device/stealth power as he entered the main lair ?
How about Positron and Statesman using unique fly poses. In the original old COH cinematic Statesman and the other flying heroes use the same pose we have now. This gives me hope that new flying poses will be available in COV!!

And Back Alley Brawler thought his name got made fun of a lot!
[/ QUOTE ]
Well I've accidentally called him the Backstreet Brawler more than once. And I HATE the Backstreet Boys.
edit: "hate" not "have" - I have never had any BSB albums, etc.
[/ QUOTE ]
Back Alley Brawler was originally the Backstreet Brawler. I believe it says it in the original game manual.

BB changed his name to distance himself from his boyband days.
So, I have *got* to know...
Were those the voices of Jack Emmert and Zeb Cook as Recluse and States?
Virtue SG: P.R.O.T.E.C.T
IcyGale, Ice/Ice Blaster 41
Cosmic Jazz, Son/Son Def 21
Quantum Chroma, Kin/Dark Def 13
Rosetta Noir, Plant/Thorns 23
Wastrel, Rad/Rad Corr 22
The city/buildings screenshots to me looked like Gotham city, Gothic and evil looking. I loved it. If they thought they were being pushed for I4 to come out faster, oi! The CoV push/draw is gonna make I4 look like no one wanted it at all. I so cant wait for it to come out or even go beta.

I think it's just CGI flair. That's a kick to the mid-section to knock away the baton, which sends the poor sucker tumbling forward, and a roundhouse axe-kick to his back to really knock him down.
Throwing CoH rules on these vids is like saying... Positron's blast as he gets up should be in the game as "Knockdown Recovery Blast."
I know I know, more fun that way.

Manticore was just teleporting. And I *so* want Positron's flight pose (and, for that matter, his mid-air blasting pose) for my power-armored hero!

I agree with you on the look of the city from the screenshots, looks like Batmans Gotham city.
I'm not sure how they are going to 'integrate' it into CoH, like will it be a different city off somewhere or is it a niegboring area (like a NYC burough) that is older/more run down/poorer or something.
Also, the pics that show the city seem to have an atmosphere shared by brickstown and kings row (look on the map, they are catually right next to each other), so it could work like that, bieng a 'red light' district.

It's a completely different city in a different country (I think...) Think of what the Cayman Islands is to the USA, and that's what the Rogue Isles are for the CoH/CoV world.
Therefore, it's not going to be directly incorporated into the CoH world. Heroes have Paragon City. Villains will have the Rogue Isles.
Hmmm... I click on "Click here to begin show" and I get "Loading (19MB)" and not much happens then.
Am I doing something wrong?
Or do I just need to wait a while?
you're probably right, but since there are supposed to be interactions between player villians and player heroes, I'm pretty sure there will be an intermediate area where both can go into. Since Striga Isle is supposed to be way out there, I wouldn't be surprised if that ended up as a PvP area between player villians and heroes, but since that place has too much importance in it story-wise, I doubt that will happen.
[ QUOTE ]
Watching this makes me drool. But I have an important questions! Will the powersets and/or costume options be available in both CoV and CoH?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well keep in mind some signature characters will usually get a costume option exclusive to them, that players cannot duplicate. But I think the others answered your question well enough.
