I for one am very disappointed that I cannot purchase the Volume Pack. Yes, I'm VIP at the moment, yes I have it for free FOR NOW... but putting it on limited sale and not allowing me to purchase permanent access to it at a discount is just insulting to me as a part-time VIP. Unless you are offering it to me for free FOREVER even if I go premium, PLEASE let a VIP purchase it. You can change the description to "permanent access to" and remind in text that VIPs hvae free access to it as long as their subscription remains current, whatever you feel you need to do, but telling me that because I'm a higher class of player, I'm not eligible for a discount? That's really really rude and shortsighted.
  2. Special Note: If you already HAVE a Going Rogue code applied to your account, you will NOT be allowed to apply another one just for the game time anymore, and it will take Customer Service almost three weeks to tell you that they can't do anything for you. Thrifty Gamers Beware.
  3. I picked up an eMachines EL1352-07E not realizing quite how small the case was, it does not hold full-size cards. I need a low-form-factor (ie, short) graphics card (including low-form attachment tab) for use with City of Heroes, Photoshop graphics assembly/touchup, and eventually Diablo 3.

What do you recommend, techies? I'd prefer to stay under $100, and I will not go over $200.

My only other problem with this is that I tend to like to move quickly throughout my mission maps.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You just learn to move around in short bunny-hops while in mission. It looks really silly, but it works. Just don't do LONG hops, or you'll hit your head on the ceiling.
  5. Are you concerned that the massive public outrage regarding the Issue 5 changes will hurt the upcoming release of the CoH CCG?

Wanted to explain the reasons for changing Burn...

It became apparent that Burn was the trump power...with it, a Tanker needed to do nothing else. He could lay down a Burn patch and Taunt foes in and out of it. The damage was so great that the Burn patch itself would do the defeating; the Tanker only needed to hit Taunt.

The question has come up - "what's the point of Burn now?" Well, it still offers Immobilization defense (we're actually going to increase that duration). And Burn does do a lot of damage. Taunt alone might not bring mobs into Burn continually, but stunning, holding, immobilizing mobs in Burn is just plain devastating.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If the damage is too great.. lower the damage. There, see how easy that was? All the burn tankers agree that the damage needs to be ramped down, we just don't understand why you have done everything to burn EXCEPT toning down the damage! We're tanks. We want to hold aggro, and do damage. Make burn do somewhat more damage over time than Fire Sword Circle, bump up the End cost a touch, remove the fear and recharge changes, and then LEAVE IT ALONE!

As to holding and immobilizing, two points: One, a major part of your I5 nerfage is to attempt to REDUCE the use of AoE holds. Two, Tanks don't have holds or immobilizes, and taking a power that ONLY works if you are teamed with a specific AT that is not you, is just not a good option.

As for Disorient, I've never seen a mob move faster or jump higher than when he was disoriented, you ever going to fix that bug?

This game used to be fun. I hope it remains successful despite the Fun nerfs, because I'd like it to be around long enough for someone to correct the damage you are doing.

Again: Thanks for one year of a very enjoyable game. Call me if that game ever returns.

It makes sense your seen if you attacked while stealthed. A good amount of the time in movies and heck, maybe real life someday If you attack while stealthed, your enemy knows where you are. Stealth is not PERFECTLY invisible. Its meant to where you can stand close and initiate an attack or 2 before they get a chance to fireback

    [/ QUOTE ]

Superior Invisibility *is* perfectly invisible. It makes zip zilch zero sense, and really makes the endurance hit of this power exceedingly rude.

The most significant effects of the I4 change to Sup Invis, and the reasons it has such a huge endurance cost, was the fact that it gave you the ability to attack a single minion without aggroing his friends (unless the minion died in their zone of course), and it provided a HUGE defense buff. Before I4, almost noone took Sup Invis as a power. If it suppresses on attack, again it will become a worthlessly redundant power to Group Invisibility.

Thanks for a year of an excellent game, States. My billing has already been cancelled (expires Aug 16) as a response to the downward spiral of Nerfs from the last 3 Updates, I just hang around hoping maybe someone will bring you to your senses. Noone wants to FEAR an update to their game. Give me a buzz if the game I used to play ever comes back.

Ok, I finally decided to test my Fire/EM Tanker on Test to see the changes for myself...Nova Red L32 Fire/EM Tanker
    {snip}
So, what I realized while fighting Levels 30-34 in Croatoa is that I had to rely on Consume much more than before. Running the same 5 toggles I have been just doesn't cut it even with Stamina 6 slotted with +++ SO's.

An interesting thing to note was that I was never in any real danger until the size of the mobs at +2 (L34) increased beyond a few minions and a LT or two.

Even Con Bosses take a long time to kill, even using Burn to get some ticks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just wanted to say that I was on test again last night with my 38, and noted roughly the same as the above poster. This time I was in the back end of Brickstown. It seemed like the Fear has been changed slightly.. they still all scatter immediately, but they were far more likely to come back into the flames then they were when I did my initial I5 testing. There was always at least one who wouldn't, and usually at least 3 out of a spawn of 8 even cons. The Lt's seemed particularly likely to stay outside the fire, interestingly enough.

The new recharge really hurts, even with permahasten it's not possible to use it as part of an 'attack sequence' of any sort (I tested with no recharges slotted into the power itself). As a result, the secondary attacks, HUGE end hogs, get used much more. I haven't had endurance problems like this since my early 20's. I found the damage of Burn to be quite decent on the mobs who came back in, but was only doing 40-80ish to those who ran (hard to tell for sure as Burn ticks don't show up in combat log). This is with Burn six-slotted for damage.

I think that the damage could stand to be reduced even further but the recharge needs to be rolled back 10-15 seconds. The Fear would be much more acceptable if it didn't kick in until about a second into the Burn damage, this is particularly true for fliers who practically teleport out of the burn patch and often take two or fewer ticks of dmg. I'll never think that Fear was the right choice for this power, but there are ways t make it less of a burning slap in the face.

    Call for Models

Here is Gwynneth Envy, on Virtue Server. She's been feeling a little lonely and abandoned (because I decided to use the same powersets on Freedom), and something like the Icon Fashion Show would be just the thing to perk up her flagging social life!

Gwynneth likes rock-climbing, athletic men, and spending other people's money.

It looks great. It looks like the non melee types make out real good. While the Tankers and Scrappers stay out in the cold with the hope that the nerf bat is at least kind to them this time around.

    [/ QUOTE ]

How quickly we forget the Tanker love. All things in their time, and Tankers already got showered with bonuses. ...and a Burn stealth-nerf, but we don't like to talk about that.

Nope. Positron's a Rad/Rad Defender. He *used* to be an Energy/Energy Blaster, but changed for unknown reasons..

Oh. Wait he respec'ed and changed his powersets! No fair! Or maybe he just re-rolled a new character.

Aye, that's why he's been standing in Steel getting PL'd.

I don't quite get the debt free for 10 levels bit.. but okay, whatever.

    Bizzare change...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Agreed.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
My reasoning was that I could live with being knocked down a few times--my main attack is Burn anyway--but I couldn't live with running out of End and having my toggles drop.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed 100%. My variant was to take taunt, consume and plasma shield early, and devote my entire 20's to pools. Starting at 20, I took Boxing, Tough, Hurdle, Swift, Stamina. I'm looking forward to Acrobatics at 30, and then I'll *finally* get to go back to my attacks. The knockdown has been a bit annoying, but that's all: it hasn't really been a huge problem.

If I were doing it again, I'd probably do Hurdle earlier and Taunt later, and maybe slot Consume a bit more...
  16. Love this thread, man!

By the way, you *can* still get the badges by joining someone elses mission. Just FYI in case you hadn't realized that already.

If you keep spaming the holds, the rikti won't spawn. Thats what makes this strategy kinda cheap

    [/ QUOTE ]

When did "effective tactical strategy" become 'cheap'? This is the standard strategy most often used on mobs that summon other mobs (the exception being Illusionists, because we WANT them to spawn their pets, heh).

I think this is need of an update with the I4 changes.

Siphon Speed and Superior Invis? Big changes to those powers.

I4 isn't out yet. Test server doesn't count, because it IS test, and could change at any time.
  19. Oh dear lord, they put DEVLIN in charge? ROFL!!! Damn, I *have* been too out of touch!

...and here I was scared when Team Bad Player became the creative team behind Diamond. L5R has Gone to the Americans...
  20. Hmm... What L5R arc did you like best, out of curiosity? I most enjoyed everything between the Day of Thunder and the middle of Jade. I've been unimpressed with everything including and after the Spirit Wars, and in fact stopped playing in early Gold, though I've heard good things about Diamond...

  21. So the weird thing is, I've got my Ill/Kin up to 26 now... and he still doesn't really feel like a controller. He's more like a weak blaster with a tank in his pocket. I have my deceive and my blind, but other than loooong deceive sessions, I'm not holding any more minions than an ice blaster can hold. I tried Flash, but it couldn't hit for anything, and it mostly got me killed when I tried to run in and use it, so I respecced it out. Am I missing something obvious, or does Ill/Kin just never end up feeling like a controller?

Actualy, I have a similar problem with a Kin/Rad defender I started recently. It feels like a blaster with a combat heal. In your opinion, what is the party contribution of the Kinetics set?
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Actually, last time I had a character get that "talk to Wincott mission" it specifically states that you don't have to do missions for him, and can do missions for your other contacts.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which is meaningless, because that's true for ALL of your contacts, and it reads just like a challenge to your heroicness. "Now you don't have to do this if you think it's going to be too dangerous..." What new player of a SUPERHERO game is going to resist being baited like that? Personally, I'd feel better about the whole thing if Wincott would actually introduce you to at least one contact outside the hollows after you do 2 missions for him or something.

Wouldnt it be nice if at the higher levels, or even the lower levels if the devs want to put the painstaking work into it, the missions i did actually changed the story of the game? ...When you put the direction of the future in the hands of the players then you really do have almost infinite growth.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Dear LORD, no! In the hands of the players, you mostly have infinite griefing. For every 3 players who want to build an epic storyline, you have 7 who think it would be cool if THEY were the person who made city hall explode. Players can safely have an impact on non-essential storyline points, but the overall framework should NEVER be impacted by them. This has been proven a number of times in player-influenced CCGs with storylines, and I imagine it would be far worse in the MMORPG world.
