Proof that CoH numbers are back up... (and more)

1) Although a contact might send you to meet a contact in a new zone, after visiting that person, you can go back and continue the mission set you were doing.

And this might mean that the higher-level toon who just ran past you is in fact not powerlevelling his worthless buddies or hunting "your" Winter Lords; he may in fact be doing a mission in your zone for completely legitimate reasons. I've had 10th level characters with missions in Atlas Park and Galaxy City, and I've had a 15th with so many missions in King's Row that it made my head explode. Some folks on Triumph may remember the "jesus god could I get some missions that aren't in King's FREAKING Row" broadcasts the day I finally lost it.

8) Non-CoH note... Zookeeper is also the name of an old arcade game. In that game, the levels involving a monkey has him throwing coconuts at you... He's holding your girlfriend hostage and you must save her.

I remember Zoo-Keeper! Made me dizzy trying to keep that middle cage build up, while using the net to put the animals back in. A classic.

You're probably talking about The Hollows. In fact all you have to do is go there to talk with that guy at soon as you reach lvl 5, that way your lvl 5 is not even going to mention The Hollows.

It happens again with Striga island.
I had 2 back-to-back KR missions last night, from a contact in Peregrine. And he still won't give me his cell number. *cry*

Now if the first contact would ASK YOU IN THE FIRST PLACE IF YOU EVEN WANT TO GO TO THE HOLLOWS OR NOT instead of automatically telling you to talk to Wincott.
And now with the Hero Corp difficulty people, MAKE THE CONTACT ASK ME IF I WANT TO SEE THEM FIRST!! Having a contact in Skyway tell me to go see the guy in KINGS ROW instead of the one in Skyway annoys me to no end.
Yes, these two things annoy me greatly.
I've already forgotten about most of you

Great, guess who got your old contact.
Especially painful when they send me to the far corner of KR for the mission, but not buddy enough to call and they are far from the train in Steel. And I was level 12 running past level 15 Tsoo to get to contact. Sorry, I'll stop whining now... And be glad I hit 14 and could fly over trouble and am now 20 and they think I want all my missions to be in, oh, King's Row again!
total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

I just finished a Devouring Earth mish in KR at level 30 and then the next was in PP
Well, I tried those other games and am back here where I belong.
I seriously can't believed I payed Sony to play that piece of C***.
Anyway, its nice to be back.
I noticed the weekend numbers on all servers seemed to be up on Sunday and they were all in the yellow zone. I think it had to do with the WL exp exploit. Many folks were using it to PL builds to travel power level or beyond. I have to say it was enjoyable to get a couple of my own builds a jumpstart and skip the low level retread missions. Alas it was all over too quickly and the servers are back to green again last night (except for freedom which remained yellow when I logged on).
The weekends always have more people on than normal, of course it'll drop from the weekend.

If you do that, however, you'll miss out on the "Go talk to Wincott" mission, which is easy xp. You just go into the Hollows, click on him, then return. *poof* Mission complete xp bonus.

Again, if you take your time and go talk to Wincott before you talk to your second contact, he is not even going to mention the Hollows. The other one I don't know, haven't tried to be preemptive with that mission. I may try with the scrapper I'm test driving now.
Yes, you can bypass by talking to Wincott in the first place..........if you already know that.
And sometimes, I don't even want to bother sprinting to Hollows from KR or Galaxy in the first place.
There should be a choice, not an automatic response.

I had indigo (in FF) send me to the middle of boomtown. Twice in a row. I'm not sure, but that might be about as bad as you can get outside the shard. But of course, nothing beats getting that mission on the far side of the hollows pre-14.

If you're stubborn, this will haunt you for several contacts. Every contact you make will give you this mission until you hit the level 15+ contacts.
What ever happened to having a choice? I want to do my missions, but I don't want one of the Hallows contacts sitting unused in my contact window...
Ok maybe I am the only one on the planet that feels this way but I happen to like those early hollows missions. Probally because I took a few months off an there was no hollows when I left. Most of you complaining are referring to alts you are building, but I think part of the point is that by having missions that send you all over the place allow newer players to get a feel for other zones.

FF to Boomtown? Not quite as bad as FF to the far side of Crey's Folly...still not fun though.

Actually I noticed last weekend that almost all the servers were yellow for the first time in a while.

Actually, last time I had a character get that "talk to Wincott mission" it specifically states that you don't have to do missions for him, and can do missions for your other contacts.

Which is meaningless, because that's true for ALL of your contacts, and it reads just like a challenge to your heroicness. "Now you don't have to do this if you think it's going to be too dangerous..." What new player of a SUPERHERO game is going to resist being baited like that? Personally, I'd feel better about the whole thing if Wincott would actually introduce you to at least one contact outside the hollows after you do 2 missions for him or something.
I know we all kinda fretted for a while... Seeing the some servers go from red, to yellow, to green... We all knew WoW and EQ II would take a lot of players and our Super Groups would shrink because of it...
But, I think beyond anything else, we can be sure the numbers are back on the rise. What is the biggest clue? What stands out more than anything else? One simple answer... The number of whining post.
Now, I couldn't make this just a whining post and be like all the others, so I thought I'd also list a number of CoH facts that some might find intersting. I'll try to keep the spoilers to zero.
1) Although a contact might send you to meet a contact in a new zone, after visiting that person, you can go back and continue the mission set you were doing.
2) When leaving Stergi Island (spelled wrong), you can go to Talos or Indy Port.
3) New portals are being set up to allow you go travel from PI to the Rikti Crash Site and should be set up soon!
4) Firebase Zulu actually spans into several other zones which house two floating cities (and is very neat to visit)
5) Having trouble finding Fake Nemesis to fight? Check out Firebase Zulu! You can usually find groups of two or more if you're on the correct floating island.
6) Are you running though PI and noticing yourself getting attacked when there was no one there before? This is because enemies on certain streets are cloaked and actually beam in once you get into aggro range.
7) When fighting Rikti Monkeys for the Zookeeper badge, you need to watch your herding because the gas clouds they leave behind can kill a Nova-ing blaster. Once you explode, it's best to move as fast as possible.
8) Non-CoH note... Zookeeper is also the name of an old arcade game. In that game, the levels involving a monkey has him throwing coconuts at you... He's holding your girlfriend hostage and you must save her.
9) Having problems with getting your defeat X missions? Use the power of inspirations by pulling the baddies to a contact and fight them with the store window open. This will allow you to feed off insps while you fight.
