Coralax sighting?
Indeed.

No they glow red JUST like an energy melee tanker every time he punches. In the CoH trailer. In the CoV trailer. That's Energy Melee. I don't understand how the BAB would be a black, dreadlocked, INV/EM tanker, then a white, spikey-haired, INV/SS tanker. Icon can't change your power set.
It's not like we even have an explanation, like with Sister Psyche/Aurora Borealis either, for a totally dramatic appearance change. Maybe they are two different heroes with the same name. That's certainly something that is quite common in the comic book world. But I'd like to see something official, first, that the black man with energy melee powers is the BAB.
What trailers and posters have specifically said the black EM tanker is BAB? None of the trailers specifically name that character as the BAB. He could be one of a multitude of other heroes to fight alongside Statesman and the Freedom Phalanx. Maybe he's a reserve member.
I checked out the entire CoH manual and the BAB is never named. I know full well where that person shows up, but the banner he shows up in doesn't specifically name him as the BAB. But I'd like to see somewhere official that the black guy is the BAB.
I also don't see why, if the black guy IS the BAB, why he'd change his appearance so dramatically as to be a totally different race, with significantly different powers, and a totally different costume. That would be like telling me Richard Pryor changed into Gene Wilder.
Check your latest issue of the comic book. The black dreadlock man is BAB. They need to update his toon definately.
Power loot! She can probably copy the opposing card's abilities for awhile.

Hehe.
That happened and set the precedent for BAB changing. He's starring in the sequel.
Energy Melee glows red? Last time I checked it was pink.
Again, I wish I had saved the original CoV site's stuff. Newspaper article. "BAB and Statesman were there". Dreadlocked guy fighting Recluse in the photo.

Captain Mako?
Is he made from the energy from Final Fantasy 7 of the same name (mako)?

See my prior post for the correct answer. That's from Manticore himself posting the changes. All those body switches made Psyche's powersets a mite odd, IMHO.
[/ QUOTE ]
You are correct. Sister Psyche has always been a Mindrider. Her merge with Aurora Borealis was obviously the most extreme case, but she occasionally picks up other powers when she is riding with a super.
[/ QUOTE ]
Mindrider, eh? Interesting...I haven't heard this term used yet. Did you just coin it, or is it a peek at things to come?
[/ QUOTE ]
Wait, I know the answer to this one, Manticore: "Check out the upcoming City of Heroes novel for more on this term and the relationship between Statesman and Lord Recluse!"
Right?
[/ QUOTE ]
Wrong, you forgot the part about 'it will be written by Robert Weinburg and available this fall.'
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually you will find Sister Psyche using her Mindrider power in the City of Heroes CCG.

Also, I'm collecting nested quotes. Whoo!

WTH is a Mindrider?!
[/ QUOTE ]
Evidently it's a form of psychic power with which the user can send part of their conciousness into another's mind.
IE, Sister Psyche took over Aurora's body.
In the CCG, Sister Psyche will apparently be the Ditto of the game.

Not quite the same- Ditto duplicates the opposing card exactly (unless there's a suppressor like Muk out).
(Point of fame/shame: I was one of the contributors to the first offical Pokemon CCG book done by Prima, which got me working at a WoTC shop for years. )
It sounds more like Psyche herself (her spirit, anyhow) can enter the target and assume control, manifesting some of her own power through the host body as well as it's own. See "skinriding" from the White Wolf game Wraith for a good example of this.
Anyone want to ninja-sneak into Manticore's offices at Cryptic and learn everything you wanted to know about CoH?

I think whats important is: someday will people be able to play mindriders, and why don't we work mind riding into the psychic controller set instead of some of the other powers they have?

Heh heh - I'm pretty sure nobody in the Black Scorpion leather camp is going to come after Cryptic for copyright infringement. Unless, of course, they've been emboldened by the Marvel lawsuit. Still and all, I'd rather run into Lady Black Scorpion in a dark alley than Armored Black Scorpion.
All of which draws away from the important questions:
1. What happened to the Back Alley Brawler? Why does he sport two different looks and two alleged powersets? I am totally on board with those who think that his powers in the trailer look just like Energy Melee from the tanker archetype. That goes against the game grain if he's been touted as a scrapper. An exception might be if he is high level and has perhaps opened up an ancillary power pool that looks like or even mimics energy melee. And why not? Many of the current "Mastery" powers from the APPs do things that non-ancillary powers do.
2. Who the crap are Topknot Dude and Bug Guy? Only Captain Monocle has visibilty as high as these two. I like that the girl in fishnets might be a South American heroine, but there's nothing about her that cries out "latin combatant" to me.
Manticore, I'm pretty confident these are just filler models from the rendering library, so why don't you hold a contest where we get to name them, their powers, and their histories? The winner gets, oh I don't know, a slot in the CoV beta. Deal?
too bad they probably have most of the stories for that stuff done already.. good try thou

I swear, whenever I see him in Galaxy City, my brain interprets him as black. I'm not sure how to interpret him as white.

That's funny, because most of the toons I see that aren't alien-skinned look white, a bit white, whitish, really white, tanned, very tanned, super tanned, misc fruit colored white, and anglo-asian of some vague sort.
I have one Spanish toon, one Hatian, one African-American, one Cuban, one Arabic and a Japanese/Anglo-American. At least the last one finally can get a face that fits when I get the influence for her.
Now how bout the rest? Please? And an American Indian face or two?
We got serverd.
