Preview of COH comic #1 out on Newsarama!
It's great to see what all the characters' real powers are. Synapse a speedster? Manticore a bow user (can't wait for I5)?
I hope we get to see a ton of the others, so we'll know just what they can do.

In the 40s you face the Praetorians, who are opposites of our favorite heroes. They generally have at least similar powers to the ones of our dimension. There are differences at times, like with Swan and Manticore (Praetorian is a ninja, ours is... something else I can't remember) but for the most part they have the same stuff.

Simply stunning. Too bad us Europeans don't get it here.. ;P Oh well, just provide me with a link so that I can instead import them at some point. ^^ I won't have much choice if this is the quality of the series. Just this preview made me see Manticore in a totally different light. ^^
Also, Positron looks badass! ^^

Hell, I live in Norway, and I get my local comic shop to import it for me... When the series went to Top Cow, it just got easier to get it, and that I like
And I just finished the preview (didn't have the time when I posted it here). I must say, this is looking good
Is Incarnate "Natural"? I was sort of thinking that the EpicATs would all have different origins, and Natural is already taken. Marcus Cole's story of 'unlocking his true potential' sounds more like The Shadow than anything else to me, which could be placed in "Magic".
As for the Natural origins losing their powers, I don't believe they do. I think that was the reason Manticore's lack of any true powers was pointed out. He'll still be skilled with the bow, making him the FP's main force for a while (and also making him a logical choice to be the focus of the first tale).

Natural origen heroes have the upper hand? Also...
The comic reminded me of a bizarro world COH run by blizzard or SOE for obvious reasons
The natural heroes would still be retreating in such a situation.
The morale factor after all. Having most of the hero force being unable to fight would make the natural heroes severly outnumbered and how would you react to most of the heroes being rendered weak and powerless?
Well for starters, my friend would Smile knowing that no one's in my fireing path except villians and bust out full auto
And my psionic defender hero (Natural origen, no special powers, trained his mind to the point of near insanity) would just forcefield untill psychic scream was ready.
I really enjoyed this first issue, and happy to see Manticore as the feature. He's my favorite hero, mainly because he stole my name . I can't express how mad I was when I found 'Manticore' reserved on every server day 1 of the servers. When I learned he was a premier hero with a backstory and powerset disturbingly similar to my own, I felt much better.
The new comic and story look great, but what about the current story line? Is it going to be wrapped up before the change?

His Archetype is Incarnate - to be released with CoV (reserve your copy now!).

While this may be a stupid question...and off topic...how do I go about reserving my copy now, while I've never pre-ordered a game before I would for CoV...
Naturaul heroes would retreat because if they get taken out, they will not go to the hospital. They will be killed and left there on the ground. Some may call that being a coward, but senseless death is just stupidity.
My memory is a little fuzzy right now, but I'm sure that either Statesman or someone else confirmed that Statesman is Natural.
Unless it was statesman, it does not even matter.

There's one small personal problem though; I have a character (Black Victor) that would die permanently if magic ever stopped working. So in the interests of a true roleplayer, either I'm going to have to concoct a good enough reason for him to stay alive on the listed date, or I'm going to have to delete him.

He's not in Paragon City? Possibly on the Ferry to Stigia?

You can pre-order games from any number of online retailers and several electronic gaming stores. They'll either take a deposit then and charge the rest when the game comes out, or they'll just take your credit card info and charge you when you pick up the game or when they ship the game to you.
I kinda remember that the Incarnate EAT (Statesman's AT) being specifically mentioned as NOT available with CoV. I think the Corollax EAT (mer-man?) is the one that is 'on deck' for this year.
I can see you reading this MANTICORE, yes, I can see through the computer screen into your eyes reading this post RIGHT NOW! Doesn't it give you goosebumps?

I didn't see anything that indicate thet Natural Origin heroes were suddenly powerless.

Uh, Stateman is Natural, and he lost his powers. My interpretation of the spell is that it shuts down anything that wouldn't work in the "real world". So Manticore's archery skills are unaffected, but Statesman's "inner will" is, even though they're both Natural in origin. This would also shut down all magic, and any technology more advanced than an automobile (which means the city should be experiencing a total blackout as the Terra Volta reactor, which uses Rikti technology, shuts down).
[/ QUOTE ]
While I don't know how the origin fits into the Incarnate AT, I doubt you could say that Statesman is a "natural" along the lines of how a natural is defined by the game: "Your origin involves no mysterious forces or secret discoveries, you have simply used your remarkable talents to train yourself to the very pinnacle of human potential," and according to the background story of CoH about Statesman, "Cole claimed to have unlocked the power of his own Inner Will, an obscure explanation at best. Whatever their true origin, it was undeniable that Cole possessed something that hadn't been seen since the age of the Greek Heroes: superpowers." Definately not the same as other natural heroes.

You could simply say he's out of town fighting in another city...
Statesman most certainly was confirmed to be Natural, although I think the thread this was stated in (by States himself no less) is long since deleted.
My assumption is that any human has the potential to unlock the 'incarnate' within them so to speak, but only Statesman and Lord Recluse have figured out how/managed to do so.

Fair enough, but that still makes him a completly different type of natural then say a MA scrapper or an AR blaster might be. Statesman still "unlocked" some kind of power, natural though it may be, is still different than the general Natural hero out there.
Makes me wonder about Kheldians, PBs in particular. They're "natural" but certainly have powers as well. Though perhaps it could be said that taking on other forms and such from previous hosts goes beyond what they are naturally, and that could a power which could be cut off.
And what about naturally born mutants?
Though, of course the writers could simply say, "it's a magic power that prevents all heroes from acting beyond what any normal citizen can do" and then the debate would be closed
Then all that would be left would be to grab pitch-forks and torches to fight back
[ QUOTE ]
Who's to say what you would do in that situation? This is when true heroes arise from the masses.
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly - To see which ones keep fighting even after their powers go out... though i doubt that will last the issue.
