The Kudos Thread
I had been playing DAoC when I heard rumors of a "superhero" game. I did my research and finally found the CoH main site.
At first I was big time turned off because there was no PvP at all and I had been through EverGrind and had no desire to go through that crap again.
But I decided I would keep checking the site and see what happens.
After weeks and months of reading the website I saw it was delayed, can't remember when, just one time it said it was delayed indefinately ... I thought "crap it's not going to happen."
I was really disappointed ...
Then I checked back one day it was a "hmm wonder what's going on?" type thing. I saw it was going to finally be released!!!
I still had reservations about the no PvP thing but decided to give it a try ... I'm not normally known for my good decisions so I was surprised by the game.
There have been ups and downs as with any game (grumbleNerfUnstoppablegrumble) but we adapt and move on. It's what we as players bring to the table ... we get hit wth a nerf bat and we say "Ok ... that's all you got?"
Here's to CoV in 2005,
Jolly Green Giant
Thank you for making such an awesome game.
Thank you for addressing our concerns and being FAR FAR more accessible than in any other MMO.
Thank you for your continued hard work and efforts.
Thank you for an awesome UI.
Thank you for making such a stable game.
Wow, I don't recall a thread like this getting so large before.
And great job devs!
Just wanted to add my own thanks to the growing chorus.
This is my first MMO, and I only expected to be playing it for a month or two when I started last August. And yet, here I still am. In large part that's due not only to how good the game is, but also to how good the Devs and support staff are. I like to hear from the red names, and as much as we might not always like what they have to say, at least they're brave enough to tell us themselves rather than sending some PR flunky to do their dirty work for them as I hear is common in other MMOs.
Also, a big kudos to the GMs--they've always been quick to respond to petitions, and always friendly.
I would like to throw in my thanks too. The I3 changes to my favorite set:Invuln looked bad until I used my banked respec and tried them. And now I can tank better then ever. This game is fun, the combat is incredible, the storys fun to read and participate in. Thanks for making my personal favorite mmorpg. Now if they would fix those off camera angles that all my max height girls have since I3 came out...
Can I get a Woot Woot for States and company!
Thank you all for...
...listening to our concerns!
...testing changes and looking at hard data!
...staying in touch with the player community!
...giving us a place to come together and form such great friendships!
...such a wonderful game!
...entertaining all of us!
Before city of heroes, I would play a game for a few weeks. Maaaaybe a month and then move on to the next one. When i was invited into the beta test last december I thought Alright I'll give it a shot... I have now been playing this game officialy for one year now.... This is unheard of in my world. Thank you Devs... Thank you for satisfying my hunger for a good game world and the ability to play with many many good players from around the world doing something i have loved since childhood... Superheroes.
Once again ... in short... Thank you
Thanks bunches Devs. This is a great game, and as far as I can see, will only become better in the future (PvP arenas are going to be a fun preview). Thanks for all you've done; listening to us, giving us free content, and keeping your sense of humor in spite of all the vitriol that only an internet forum can throw at you.
Kudos,
MadS
Excellent! It gets rather depressing sometimes to read so many inconsequential complaints and this thread is a welcome change!
I say 'well done and a hearty thank you' to the Devs!
I have played CoH since April and I am still having a great time! Customer support from Cryptic Studios is THE BEST!! The free expansions have been fun and interesting (I love the badges) and I'm soooo looking forward to hunting the Octopus and ghosts and visiting Striga Island. I love the new graphic changes to some of the door missions! My husband and I really enjoyed the darkened warehouse search for Tsoo tattooing inks... the statue was great! I can hardly wait to see what other missions have received a makeover. The attention to detail is simply fantastic. I am a tourist who examines every uniform, tattoo and cryptic glowing symbol DEV response to player problems both ingame and on these boards is amazing.
The only things on my wish list for CoH is more costume choices - love the auras, but more choices for clothing would be great! And hope that soloing will not be completely nerfed out of the game. I don't mind having to recruit some help to take on an especially viscious foe, but I would hate to forced to have a group to accomplish every goal or mission.
***** Thank you all !! ****
This game is awesome.
This thread is also awesome.
So awesome in fact that I am going to actually post something.
THANK YOU DEVS!!!
Adding my special thanks here:
We started an ew group lately ( The New Breed) and set all our slider to "rugged" and we have great fun, so far we went up to level 6 and just completed the 2 outcast bases in the Hollow.
Also thank you for working continuously on making the graphics better.
In issue 2 you introduced the Skull Dyne lab tileset, and you perfected it in issue 3 with a new light that is awesome. (check the link above and scroll down to the dyne lab pola.)
Thanks.

This article on Warcry says we can create 100 page posts of our complaints to Cryptic, but can't put together 5 pages of thank you's for the people who make and manage CoH.
I say we prove them wrong. I've seen lots of little thank you threads on these boards: let's see what they look like all in one place. You can keep them short and sweet, just keep them coming.

11 pages so far...have we proved them wrong yet
There I was between a rock and a hard place. Then I thought, "What am I doing on this side of the rock?"
This game is incredible, I love basically everything about it, and im considered one of the *nerfed* ones from issue 3. Great works guys and we do appreciate it, The new content and power changes rule.
the Peacebringers are great and I have yet to find the new badges but im sure they will be fun to get as well.
I am in love with my warshade. It's so much fun. It's got a little bit of every power from each archtype, making it so much more versatile. I'm also enjoying going out with the lower levels and still being afforded the respect of having earned level 50.
Striga is awesome! I just wish Spacekitten had a chance to enjoy it and the missions there as I was leveling her. No biggie though, there'll be a lovely little alien kicking butt there soon enough.
And the best part? It's still a free update. The Devs, once again, have raised the bar as to what a great MMORPG is.

Not really, this thread is an island of positivity in a sea of negativity.
What we have done though is give the devs a place to come for encouragement within that sea of negativity. And they seem to appreciate it, so let's focus on keeping this going, instead of "proving our point".
I appreciate everyone posting here and hope they will keep doing so. But remember Glow Girls article. It's not just about showing the devs the love they deserve, it's about correcting those in other threads who don't give the devs a fair shake.
Thanks to all for your positive responses here. Spread it throughout the rest of these boards.
And Devs, thanks for khaladians. I teamed with two int eh past 24 hours. Very cool.

Depends on your preference setting, I have only 7 pages...
Don't think anyone can accuse me of brown-nosing, given the pages of suggestions and laments I've added to the forums. That said, I think this thread was a long time in coming. I know you've put in a lot of sleepless nights trying to get things to work, trying to make things special, and more often than not, met with snarky pettiness.
Despite my issues with content over grind, I have enjoyed this game more than any other.
If for nothing else...
For letting me fly.
Thanks for all your hard work, you've done a great job over all so far. Now, stop glowing, and get back to work! *G*
Cheers!
Max

Hey this is probably only one small drop in a lake ... but I want to drop it.
Just wanted to thank you ... most changes in I3 are really cool ... I haven't given my tankers a try but they are lowish level so I'll adapt no matter what was done ... but I really want to try out the new tauting ... I was never a big fan of taking provoke and taunt ... so my toons have one or the other ... now is the time to see how that turned out.
As for stuff like fear ... I have Cloak of Fear on my scrapper and ... I will need to learn how to use the new form ... I liked my old form and wouldn't mind seeing something like what what was done to knockback (add a enhancement to make them run) implemented. Having more choices is always better ... but that requieres more work on your part.
Anyway ... this is an "I love you guys" thread ... which is the case so ... I LOVE YOU GUYS!
You do great work. Fun, artistic, alot of fresh work since you have no items to tentalise players with, and you even made a game that has allowed me to show my girlfriend why I like playing MMO games. She likes this one enough to play once or twice a week ... thank you very much.
Keep up the fine work!

True, I only have 25 posts per page. That would mean somewhere around 275 posts give or take.
There I was between a rock and a hard place. Then I thought, "What am I doing on this side of the rock?"
Been playing a lot lately and not so much on the boards. But I've seen some great stuff lately so here it goes.
The artwork on the CoT mission I just had in the Hollows was IN-CRE-DI-BLE! It was filled with ornate hallways and portals that led through different levels of a 3D mountian filled with baddies. Just beautiful. And 3D warfare to boot. WOW! Now I'm sad I outlevelled the Arc - because it's the first in a LONG time I've looked forward to my next Circle Mission.
Then we took on the Council in Talos and wasted a fun half hour blowing away reinforced doors. The computer readout screens were very interesting and I can only hope that the Council really will be the cause of this winter storm.
Last night I got picked up by an SG filled with people I really like. I know "guilds" are old hat in MMOs, but in a way it fulfills my wish to be one of the super-friends.
Got my cape and second costume at 20. My toon is a homeless kid and I wanted the costume to look cool but also look like stuff he got from dumpsters and goodwill. I was really worried that the costume designer wouldn't be able to pull it off, but it could. DANG that engine is flexible. If my feet and calves were two separate parts of my body it would go past awesome to perfect, but DANG it is awesome.
Kind of sad to see this thread fall so far in the forums. Hope people pop in a couple of times a week to give a kudo or two. I know I will.

Kudos for posting in the ideas forum. It's nice to know you're reading there!
Kudos for opening a discussion about bosses, and taking the time to check into the question.
Those of us who have told others that you take this community seriously are gonna have a lot of crow ready to serve others today.
Kudos for talking civilians. I think it's great that they, like, seem to talk amongst themselves and notice goings on around them without me poking them all the time. Even simplistically.

What else can I say? I should be working on my LARP that I have to run in less than 24 hours. No other game in my life grappled my attentions so bad that my other games start to suffer....
[/ QUOTE ]
I second this. I also have to run a LARP in... 24 hours and 10 minutes. I'm unprepared. I'm likely to be playing CoH tonight instead of preparing.
