  1. Interesting.. more power to gender bending Jeckl and Hyde types ^-^

Very much wanted ability though, so can see much gnashing about it only for paid extra.

And rubber gloves! Needed something like that for a while on my mad doctor.

Well, right off, anything serious enough that it had to be escalated is going to take some extra time. Secondly, I would guess that the senior person it got escalated to would not be at work on the weekend so those days don't count.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I havent yet had a support ticket not get escalated.
I think stand operating procedure is a form email telling you that on first contact.

I'm betting there's a long line too though.

    Taxi-bot?

I've seen the virtue taxi bots out the last couple of weekends.
Helped me get a few fire fighting badges in steel.
  4. You can run CoH okay on your computer.

I've run it on worse /:

But like as been said, adjust everything for performance. And look at the the post ATI Issues and Settings Recommendations ( http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showf...=0#Post8661590 ) for good tweaking.

The long zone load times would be related to ram. Once loaded thinsg tend to run smoother. Make sure plenty of free disk space and a defragged drive will help.

More ram is probably the cheapest and time effective boost to your performance you can get.
  5. Often an int in aid self/other if I've taken them.

Often put a range in the ressurection power.

I had someone gift me money the other day.

At the black markert. At random.

I tried to say no. It was only 2340 inf with a few inspirations.

I normally turn down SG offfers of 200 k for joining or promoting as its not enough to bother with.

But they really wanted to give it.

SoI took it, said thanks, and wondered.

I cant better Pug Knight from Blood_Spectre
  8. After 8 days, I'd be happy with only 30 spam emails.

I hate the nag reminding you on each zoing more than the red letters.

90% of my toons 'might' get legit mail too, so have to scan each one's title or context before teh mass deletes.

But really it bothers me little. Deal with more and worse daily with real email. Why wouldn't superheroes get spam like normal people....

    Australians

[qr]Despite Justice having the rep for being australian server, in my experience you will still find more people around on the busy two (freedom and virtue) during Aussie playing times.

Thats when aussie peak time isnt server maintence.

I think the entire AE building should have power suppression... with all the griefers that just auto spam graphic powers to lag the building...

    [/ QUOTE ]
The detoggling would be annoying if had to walk through power supression to get to AE/went/blacks. IIRC going studio B cuts off toggle powers not just supress them.

I've seen the studio used for grief free costume contest zone as well. Was a great spot for that.
  11. The 'You have new mail' on every zoning annoys me more than the red letters.
  12. I'd rather a teleport to spwan temp power, much like the mission tp with similar recharge. And probably end up with having to use the /stuck a lot after using it ...

Or temp power to high light foes on mini map.

    Lottery System

It would be a very obscene amount of money, ie more than the 2 billion inf cap to collect.
    A lesser sum might work.

There then might be issues with the Rating system and gambling *shrug*.

Player run lotteries, or SG lotteries might work better.

    RP?

    [ QUOTE ]
Decided to look up MMORPG on Wiki and found some things to be rather interesting....

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MMORPG

    Roleplaying

Some MMORPGs also may expect players to roleplay their characters – that is, to speak and act in the way their character would act, even if it means shying away from other goals such as wealth or experience. However, as this behavior is far from being the norm, most MMORPG players never actually play the roles of their characters.[10] Still, MMORPGs may offer "RP-only" servers for those who wish to immerse themselves in the game in this way.

    Culture

Some players might look down on those who invest huge amounts of time and or money into a game, while others might scorn those who can't put in the time to "play properly". The validity of such viewpoints is heavily debated, with both sides of the issue being discussed frequently on most games' forums.

    ---------------

So.....Its not as "normal" as some of you think to actually play the "role" of your character IN-GAME. There's actually fewer of you than there are those who just "play the game"

Secondly, its pretty clear there's a great number of people who share my view about RPing in general. It seems, this discussion is pretty valid on most MMORPG forums. I can't say for sure because this is the first game I've spent any great amount of time playing.

So while I try to understand the fun factor in becoming someone you arnt, know that I'm not the only person who thinks its weird and rather off-putting.

Just added something new to the list of things I rather not do duing my life...

    143. Pretend to be a female super-hero.

You know the 'source' of that section is one persons blog entry about RP? And discussing WoW?
    Factual data it aint.

The pocket D map isnt like any other city map though.
I'd understand the viewpoint about pandering if you had picked almost any other example.

Most newbies would open the map (in middle of screen maybe not knowing how to move it), click on the green dot for kings row/cap and follow the direction marker which points the wrong way.

So it aint a case of just knowing where the map button is, and what the Green dots mean on it. But knowing you need to ignore the direction it tells you to go.

    [ QUOTE ]
I think the problem here is the definition of "role playing". You can role play as a female without the whole sexual/flirting/cybering thing. In War_Admiral's definition, you can't. There is no reason why a female character can't act as a female no matter the gender of the player controlling them. It's like a male writer penning a female character. The opposite is equally true.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I explained the reasons for his reactions..based on his / our experiences with it.

Am i wrong to find it off-putting that someone I team with regularly not only lies about their own gender but goes out of their way to protray an over-sexed lesbian?

Yes, i agree.. clearly we are discussing 2 different types of role playing here.. what im not getting tho is how you can possibly argue that my opinion is wrong. There has GOT to be a point where a line is crossed. I mean, cmon'.. really?

Most recently I was on a vent channel with a team.. at 1 point 1 of their daughters came on and everyone said hi to her.. and im like, wait.. how old is this girl.. i was told she was 10..

2 days prior to this i saw this girl in atlas "role playing" as an 18 year old girl. I told her father when he came back on what had gone on and he handled it and she even apologized for it..

I had seen this girl around atlas the whole time ive been playing and was shocked to hear shes only 10. At what point is it going to far?

Go ahead and role play, whatever... PROBLEM is that its typically in an open environment or on a team setting.. its NOT exclusive to sg's.. and perhaps thats the only place it needs to be. Dont involve unwilling participants.

Is that really too much to ask?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not sure how many times you need to hear 'those two were out of line' for you not to be confused about it.
I mean, have you seen a single response stating they were in the right?
I mean, how many times do posters need to repeat that those two crossed lines for you to not to keep asking 'is there a point where it's crossed?'

With 'what im not getting tho is how you can possibly argue that my opinion is wrong' I'm not even sure of your opinion is.
You've defended the Admirals position, is it the same as yours? That you want to punch all RPers in the face?
Cause its pretty clear to me, thats wrong.

Is it that there shouldnt be any role play in a MMORPG? Thats what you seem to be saying in above, and frankly, I dont see how you could defend that as 'right'.

Or is it you dont understand that posters are not slamming his reactions to the terriable incident that seems to have scarred him, but his projection that all RPers are like 'that'.

Is your opinion (which 'cant be wrong') just supporting his homophobia and bias against RPers?

I trust you told him how to get out of Pocket D.

[/ QUOTE ]Yes, because it's so hard to figure out what those "exit to <zone>" markers on the map are.... I don't see helping willful ignorance. If someone isn't willing to do the minimal work needed to figure out the basics of the game themselves, I say let them flounder...

[/ QUOTE ]You don't have to hand-feed them and lead them to the exit and tell them to click this and click that. You can say "open your map and look for the green dots that point to [hero/villain (as appropriate)] zones".

    [/ QUOTE ]

Very true but when I started playing you would click on the green dot lets say Kings Row and it would lead you to the Villains exit. I was very confused on how to get out of Pocket D for a long time

    [/ QUOTE ]

I hated pocket D when I started playing. Laggy to point of rubberbanding lots, and the direction markers still point the opposite direction to actual entrance.
    Very fustrating.

Wasnt for months till I suddenly realised that the blue side / red side might have meaning :|

    I just hit my 3rd 50 this weekend. I now have a level 50 BS/SR scrapper, a level 50 emp/ele 'fender, and a level 50 Psi/fire blaster.

It's been over a year since I hit my first 50.

She's still one of my favorites to play.

To me, the game is just as much fun at 50 as it was earlier. In fact, from about 42 on, I find it more fun than a lot of the strive to 42.

    >.>

So for me, 42 *is* the answer

    [/ QUOTE ]

It gets all good for me from 32 up

Though I dont play my first 50 much, the second one I keep playing a lot. Getting more awesome.
  21. I'll tend to put them up rather than out right deleting them. Dont want to spend the time running to Vendor, and can sometimes get pocket inf from them.

Plus I know my low level toons will snap some up to vendor to start thier bankroll.
I dont mind other toons getting profit or use from stuff that even if I vendor, will only get my little amount thats not worth the energy.

    Goes towards badges too.

If they sit there for a couple of logins, then I kill them.
