Creation Studio B -- Power Supprression In Effect

I might be the last person to notice that sign in the AE building. I was stunned to find that there is a separate AE area with power suppression. Very cool. Can we get one for the markets?

Seriously, it's a good suggestion, but this place is questions to other players for people seeking help.

I'm not making a suggestion to the Devs, that was more of a grumble than anything. The reason I made this thread is I've been spending a LOT fo time on the forums and I've never seen any reference to this room at all -- it was a complete surprise. I'm interested in whether it's widely known and just not talked about, or what. That seems weird, given how much talk there's been about power spamming.

So, have you seen this area? Heard about it? Used it?

Yup. Then again, I also ran the tutorial and paid attention, like I do with all the tutorials. Most players aren't like me though, I'm weird.

Had you asked that, I would have answered you.

In the early days of Issue 14 the Atlas Park AE building's Studio B was pretty full (even on Triumph and other low-population servers). A bunch of other zone's were similarly full. The difference you might be seeing is that a lot of authors more than likely have the mission creator temp power by now and can build missions away from the buildings entirely.

Heard about it on the forums and in the tutorial. Went in ONCE just to look. I normally work at a terminal out in the main area, but I pick an AE building that is less crowded (usually Indy Port or Brickstown).

It does seem like a reasonable idea for Wentworths. The only change in the WW building would be to add a door linked to a suppression room under the map.

Actually, Sailboat, in Closed Beta it repeatedly ask for to have this same suppression to be ported over to WW/BM. One main concern is the openness of the Black Markets, especially the one in Sharkhead where one of the paths of the "Ghost of Scrapyard" passes right by the market.

I think they should relocate them into 'Abandoned Warehouses', so that people are out of the line of fire, when concerning wondering foes, or Rikti and Zombie raids.

I think the entire AE building should have power suppression... with all the griefers that just auto spam graphic powers to lag the building...

[/ QUOTE ] Better yet.. put the entrance to Studio B on the ground floor, so people wont have to go through the active area just to get to the non-active one.

The detoggling would be annoying if had to walk through power supression to get to AE/went/blacks. IIRC going studio B cuts off toggle powers not just supress them.

I've seen the studio used for grief free costume contest zone as well. Was a great spot for that.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

I wish.
I think that power suppression in the markets have been suggested quite a while.

I'm pretty sure someone would find a way to exploit it, so it's a no-go.

That's a great idea right there. One of the things I dislike about Studio B is that while you don't get the visual spam of powers in there, you're close enough to the main area that you can still get a lot of noise from people spamming loud powers. I can turn off my speakers, but it would be nice not to have to. Putting it downstairs would pretty much eliminate the problem.

Well, the black markets are completely open. Yes, they have a kill-field, but NPCs can still fire from outside to inside it without dying.

There are several reasons why people don't actually use the Studio B when working with AE stuff, and why they will always complain about power spamming in the main AE area.

There are, obviously, going to be people who just don't know about it. The game lays it out for you in the tutorial arc on a silver platter, but a lot of people ignore the tutorial completely, and it's easy to miss that little door.

However, I imagine that the real reason most people don't use Studio B is because there's no mission entrance in there. A lot of the people you see standing around in the AE building are organizing or looking for teams, and for the purposes of actually running AE missions, Studio B is mostly useless.
It's fantastic for working on your missions in peace, (I use it all the time) but not so much when you're trying to organize people to run your... ahem, "rewards based mission arc".
The people standing around waiting to start an AE arc are always going to be stuck surrounded by people with shadowfall and steamy mist, and the Studio B doesn't solve that problem for them.

I don't think that power suppressing the entire building would be very good either, since people don't like having to re-apply all of their toggles after every mission. It would also prevent the use of travel powers (even hurdle, iirc), making moving around inside the AE building frustratingly slow, and would also prevent pre-buffing your team before entering a mission (most notably, the Fortune tarot power from the Magic Booster). Not a HUGE deal, but an inconvenience nonetheless.

The only case to be made for not supressing all powers in WW/BM is the accolade power "summon portable worktable" that a few toons have (including one of mine). I suppose an immunity could be given to it and allow it to be used even in the supression zone, but that seems to be a bit extreme.
