  1. One of the things I heard about Nanotechnology is that it is just like moving a can on the ground from orbit. Although I would have to disagree with your assessment of nanotechnology being steady refinement of materials science due to the simple fact that what properties a piece of material in the macroscopic world doesn't have the same properties in the nanoscopic world. Silver looks silver even if you make them into little pieces and put them in water. However, at the nanoscopic level the size of the silver determines the color of the nanoparticles. Carbon nanotubes have very different properties than graphite and they are made of just carbon.
  2. There is a field in nanotechnology called nanobiotechnology that involves repurposing bacteria for some task that we need. Life has been doing for millions of years what scientists hope to accomplish. For example, there is this bacteria or plant in the arctic that lives under the ice and receives little sunlight. It is able to collect light and put it into a quantum phase until the light reaches where it needs to go. Having tiny machines in our bodies that fixes things might be impossible, but having engineered bacteria accomplish that is entirely possible.

There is also the field of nanotoxicology since there are silver nanoparticles in the water supply due to their antimicrobial effects. Basically some company puts silver nanoparticles in gym shorts and the shorts don't stink. The problem is that during the wash, some of the nanoparticles get released into the water supply. Materials have very different properties at the nanometre size compared to regular bulk size. These particles are more likely to get into our cells and cause some type of havoc due to there being no major study on them.

Some of what people thought nanotechnology would provide is either not possible or not possible at the moment and there will be other things created through nanotechnology that scientists twenty years ago never dreamed of.
  3. Decided to take part of your advice for the build and put Siphon Insight in Dark Servant, Lockdown in my 2 holds, and Blood Mandate for Jounin and Oni. Went from about 10% Defense to 30% Defense for AoE and Ranged and 20% Defense for Melee. Only problem is that Dark Servant is down for a few seconds, but not something that is noticeable.

Could always use cryogenics. Sorry couldn't type that with a straight face. The thing with nanotechnology is that it applies to anything that has a feature size in the nanometre range. Computer chips, clothing that doesn't get wet, and sunscreen are all examples of nanotechnology that exists at this moment. Self-replicating microscopic robots are the nanotechnology's version of the philosopher's stone in alchemy. The Lycurgus Cup is a form of nanotechnology that existed thousands of years ago. Its effect is based on nanoparticles of gold, silver, and copper.
  5. What would make this game better IMO is monthly reports detailing what is happening in the game. In a certain MMO, the lead designer does these monthly reports with the headings:

    In Testing
These items are currently being tested on either an internal test shard or on Public Test Server.

    Under Investigation
These issues are hot topics in the QA and CS world. It by no means represents all the bugs we're looking into, but instead new issues that I want you to know we are on top of.

    In Development
These items are actively being worked on by the devs at this time.

    In Design Discussions
The lead designers are currently discussing these features for implementation in an upcoming update.

Under each heading is just the name of the feature being worked on. There is the obvious warning that these items are subject to change and only deal with the current state of the game at the moment of the post.

I would rather have devs that are a bit too open about what they plan to do than keeping quiet about everything.
  6. Nanotechnology. Is there anything it theoretically can't do? Cure cancer, superstrong materials, and electronics that are only a certain size because any smaller and people can't use them are just a few applications. After all, what is the point of having a microscopic iPhone besides the obvious because we can.
  7. I don't understand the complaints about people being bored due to level shifts. Right now the max level for npcs is level 54, but when Omega slot comes out, then it would be 64. There will always be new challenges that will make up for the level shift. Besides if you want a challenge, then run a level 50 TF with fewer people. I know I would love to try to solo an LRSF, ITF, BSF, or LGTF when I get my Omega Slot. Now that would make my character feel powerful.

It prompts the questions, "What else did I miss, and what else is in store for him?"
Getting Alpha means you are an Incarnate. I consider it like the various ranks in the Police or Army. A Chief of Police and a Constable are still Police Officers, but a Chief of Police has more power than a Constable. Constable is the Alpha Slot while Chief of Police is the Omega Slot.

I just hope that when we complete our path of the Incarnate that all the enemies of the pre-19 level 50 TFs/STFs will con grey to blue to us. Would be nice to be able to solo the LRSF without having a mind dom. Of course, Monsters and Raid enemies (Riktis, Zombies, etc.) will always con the same to us even if we are 50+10.

  10. So would this recipe set be just for you or would it be User Generated Content that anyone can obtain? Assuming it is UGC, then the game and market will be clogged with countless User Created Recipes. How do you get your "Lone Soldier's Last Stand" recipe set when there is so many different recipes out there.

Now take the other situation. You have created a recipe set and obtained the recipes since it your very own personal set where no one else can use it. The devs have made it so that any recipe is available with the enough Merits and/or Alignment Merits. According to this, then assuming that personal recipes are eventually possible, then it will require some new Merit or require extra Merits. For example if it takes 220 Merits or 2 Alignment Merits to build a Rare, then it would take 340 Merits or 4 Alignment Merits to build a personal Rare. Purples and PVP recipes are even more difficult to obtain since it would take about 30-50 Alignment Merits.
  11. 1. Veteran Status doesn't imply any sort of entitlement. As far as GMs are concerned, you are as important as a person that started the game.
    2. Bug Hunter is only given to people the devs have considered as finding a gamebreaking bug like exploits.
    3. Microtransactions are the domain of marketing and GMs can't give you a free animal pack.
    4. TFs fail all the time due to people quitting half way through them and most take it in stride.
    5. It is just a game.

If it was just a connection problem with a couple of teammates, then there is nothing the GMs can do about it. If it is an actual bug in the game, then all you should get is the rewards for completing the TF. I have waited days for responses and other times it has taken just a few minutes.

    Watson wins!

Can just imagine it now. AI is next judge of American Idol in Season 20 and 0-PRA is first AI to host a talk show. Then we have to worry about AI is our elections. Although, they would do a better job than most politicians assuming they have the right program. Have to get rid of that pesky DESTROY ALL HUMANS bug that seems to be present in most AIs.
  13. Thanks alot for getting my hopes up and crushing them to oblivion. Although if Nathan Fillion gets rich to finance a TV series, then we might see Firefly: The Next Generation.
  14. Or maybe Omega allows you to slot one of the powers in the first mission of the Mender Ramiel arc. Wouldn't mind having Divine Core Oscillation, Limitless Radial Freeeem, or Paradox Core Eternity. Divine Core Oscillation and Limitless Radial Freeeem could work if they are modified a bit to be less powerful. Divine Core Oscillation could increase the percentage of your attacks that are unresistable. Say 5% for Common and 25% for Very Rare. Limitless Radial Freeeem could be modified so the buff is more reasonable. Buffing regen, damage resistance, recovery, and defense would certainly be an Omega Power.

On second thought, Omega should follow the alpha slot, but instead of it buffing enhancements, it buffs stuff that can only be enhanced through buffs (Assault, Tactics, AM, etc) or set bonuses (recovery, regen, max health, etc.)

  16. You can already do this ingame. However, you need another account or someone to help you to invite your alts to the SG. Created a bunch of useless villains to increase the number of people in my VG to get the prestige bonus.
  17. Heard of an interesting story about this type of thing in another MMO. Someone had about $1000 worth of their MMO's version of 60 day time card salvage, but they were destroyed by another playing with them losing that particular salvage. While it is a decent way for an official RMT, there are numerous problems from someone accidentally forgetting a couple of 0s at the end of their trade or accidentally deleting it.
  18. I would say it depends on the skill of the player and the type of npcs he is going against. Carnival would be difficult if not impossible while one of the mobs of the popular farm missions like Demons or Family would be easier. Also, anyone should be able to do it, if they don't mind dying 50 times.

The +4 AV would be a problem so anyone that does it should mention if there is any AVs/heroes and how many deaths they had while doing it.

    Tier 4 Alpha

Not necessarily. 10 slots seems to be the maximum for Incarnate, but they could add another 10 slots with the Deity system. Incarnate seems like making a human into a demigod while the Deity system would be turning a demigod (Full Incarnate) into a god. The Deity system is just something I thought of just to prove that even with an established Incarnate system, it is possible for more improvement by adding more systems.

    Tier 4 Alpha

My opinion is that unless you are a minmaxer, then just ignore Tier 4. Most of the benefit will come from the Tier 3 and you only get limited benefit from the Tier 4. Although since there is the chance that current Incarnate Components work for only the Alpha slot, then either the option of crafting the Tier 4 to get rid of the Components or break them down.

I have been saving up to build my next rare and very rare, but I won't craft it until I know for sure that I can't use them on the next slot.
  21. Why bother with Movie actors since it is 2015. Let me put this scenario to you. Its 2013 and the technology to make completely realistic CG is developed. Movie studios get tired of paying $20 million for actors that aren't even worth a fraction of it and movie goers get tired of paying $25 to see people they have seen in five other films this year. In 2015, actors have been downsized from most movie studios and find work in Theater or flipping burgers having to sell their million dollar homes to feed their extravagant lifestyles. Some musicians have suffered similar fates due to them having no creativity.

Now the whole point of this scenario is why should any movie star ruin my character with them doing their own version of my character when I can design the character with the look I want, the personality I want, and the voice I want. IMO few actors have done roles exactly right or better than how the creator viewed them.
  22. The only thing I am concerned about is when the do a TF that doesn't match up with a SF like Positron (10-15), Manticore(30-35), Doc Q (40-44). I agree with the sentiment that WSTs are not just for Incarnates. In fact, it is my personal belief that WSTs are not built for Incarnates, but as a way for players to find teams since they give players incentives to do a particular TF. There will be other methods of getting Notice of the Wells that have nothing to do with WSTs. Every player could get benefit out of them and spacing the low level TFs with the high level ones satisfies most people that are interested in them. After all, it might take 4 weeks to currently make a very rare alpha, but only 4 days for collecting the rare and very rare components when I20 goes live assuming that the Incarnate Trials drop Notices and are able to be done once a day.
  23. Heard a while back about a petless MM taking down one of the RV heroes. Of course, he was using /traps which has the AV killer Poison Trap. Therefore, more most people petless MMs are too much of a challenge to be bothered with, but there are some people that thrive on the challenge and are able to make it work.

Actually the cheapest form of entertainment is reading books at the library. Don't need to spend an annual fee on a membership. Kind of frowned upon when you do that at a bookstore or comic store.
  25. We don't know how the other slots are going to work so there is the chance that unused Incarnate components will be used in future slots. There is always the possibility of breaking them down for 1 shard for common and slightly more for others, but IMO the only thing worth breaking down right now are Notice of the Well since they give 4-6 shards assuming they are only used for alpha slots. What is confirmed is that you can create any component from Shards that means current and future slots assuming all slots are based on crafting.
