    Epic Pool Parity

And oddly enough they get the smallest benefit from powers like assault also.

    Epic Pool Parity

I think blasters get screwed over more than anyone else. The additional hold can be helpful and snow storm is nice, but what most blasters really need is def/res imo. I never understood why the AT with the least amount of contro/def/res/debuff/buff is given the smallest buff numbers for defense and resistance powers.
  3. At Cap au Diablo I will use the go to command. I usually dismiss them altogether if I will be there awhile. At any other BM I may or may not make them go stand in the corner. My pets are ninjas though. So they are small, well disciplined, and silent killers. Not like those howling heathens that other people bring to the BM.

I could hear all the blazing and howling whilst on the costume screen with no idea what it was. (Well, a pretty good guess since it was the first or second day of the new issue )

On my Ninja or Thugs MM I take my pets to the black Market with me. I also turn off stealth auras and Dispersion Bubbles by habit when Im there. So I think I'd de-summonany demons if I ever got around to playing a demon MM.
Ha, ha. I know exactly what you mean. I was respecing a toon like 20 feet away from the BM in Cap au Diablo and I kept hearing these crazy noises. I thought we were under zombie attack and that I was going to die mid-respec. It was freaking me out!
  4. That's an easy one. Suppose you "forgot" to ice shield the emp and kin and then stood near them. Heals would eventually have to come your way.

I think I like the Web Grenade better. Most of the tier one immobilize powers do damage over time that spans a whopping 9 seconds. Sometimes I will shoot someone with the tier 1 immobilize when they are near dead and move on to the next target fully expecting them to die, only the damage takes so long to complete that they regenerate a tick of health and I end up needing to shoot them again. Otherwise I simply get bored waiting for the damage to finish them off and I end up shooting them with another power anyway. No minion or lieutenant should take 9 seconds to kill. The only thing the power is actually useful for is immobilizing or damaging bosses or higher. If you were to look at the tier 1 immobilize damage contribution in "Herostats" you may find that you are getting far less damage out of it than advertised. At least the immobilize from Devices doesn't try to trick you into thinking that you are actually doing some real damage.

    Elec/Elec Blast

Elec/Fire was my first 50. He's also one of my favorites. That being said, if you are trying for a sapper I think elec/elec if the only way you can reliably keep the bosses drained. Otherwise Elec/Fire is great fun due to the 4 sweet AOE's(and no cones). 3 of them being 15ft or more in radius. Not to mention hot feet which rocks. The nice thing about elec/elec besides the sapping is the 2 stacking holds for those nasty bosses. Of course you can get your second hold with epic powers and any other secondary. I was thinking that mental manipulation might also allow you to sap but I can't remember how long the -recovery lasts on MM and red tomax's domain just exipered(oh noos!) so i can't get the data at the moment. Can't think of how MM would really synergize other than that. Ice secondary also has a hold and some survivability along with some blappiness if blapping is what you are going for. You will likey need some melee attacks to get s/l bonuses anyway. Definately not devices cause you don't have enough single target attacks in your primary as it is. I also agree with southern cross about picking up charged bolts.
  7. Just in case you are intersted in the build. Skipped all the holds and snipes. Streamlined for def/damage. Also skipped the nuke. The time it takes to retoggle and and click your blue pills would probably be longer than it would take to kill the mob without the nuke. Plus there will likely be more than 16 mobs so your nuke wouldn't kill everyone anyway.

  8. I do a warrior farm 0/8 no bosses with my electric/fire blaster. I ran hero stats on my most recent run and recorded over 1200 kills/hour. The timing was started from inside the mission and stopped after exiting. With no bosses I rarely die. If I turn bosses on it is noticeably slower and I probably die about every other run. I am not in front of my pc so I would estimate that I have around 35 S/L def and 20 ranged def. No resistance and 1550 HP thanks to accolades. Hot feet and ball lightning make up for most of the damage. Hot feet is just slightly higher. Combustion comes next in the damage department and then short circuit. I originally ran it with FSC instead of combustion. I think combustion is better though because of the larger radius and quicker recharge. It seems to me that the Elec/ primary could pretty easily be replaced by fire, rad, or archery. Going with a more cone based primary like AR seems like it would be counter productive due to the circular pbaoe nature of /fire. The reason i like electric though is because of the 2 large radius aoe/pbaoe's and no cones. I just jump dead center into the mob and unleash the carnage.
  9. My rad/mm is at lvl 40 at the moment. My plan was to take the 3 ranged AOE/Cones in my early build since I would be very squishee. Once I get my Ice armor I will create my second build to be more melee oriented with the 2 pboae's and the 1 ranged AOE. I will be skipping the cones because 5 AOE's seems like a bit too much. If you are teaming or soloing +2's or higher then a 4th AOE may work for you but for anything less 3 AOE's will clear out all the minions.

While drain psyche has been helpful in lower levels it will be more of an endurance recovery tool than a life saving tool. I rarely die from minions nickel and diming me to death. In those situations and in the time it takes drain psyche to really add on some hit points, you could have popped multiple inspirations or simply run away. Normally if I die it is because I angered a boss like whatever those werewolf bosses are called and they 2 shot me. In those situations drain psyche won't be very much help. I can see getting much more use out of drain psyche once I get some defense/resistance to slow the incoming damage.

I haven't found the build to be too bad endurance wise so I think building for defense and then recharge would be good.
  10. I think you will need more than 8 for Rikti Pylons too. I believe I tried to solo one with a /fire brute and couldn't stay on my feet with Mag 8 kb protection.
  11. Just a little fun fact for you.

For the sake of keeping the math simple let's say you are getting (10,000 inf/minute) solo. In order to achieve the same inf/min on a team we could use the below formula.

x = necessary influence per minute

    x*(team modifier)/(team size) = (target inf per minute - 10,000)
for a 8 man team the team modifier should be 2.5
    (x*2.5)/8 = 10,000
    x=80,000/2.5
    x=32,000
32,000 inf/minute is what we need to accomplish as a team in order to match your solo speed. So in summary you would need to kill 3.2 times faster per minute as a team assuming you are fighting the same level enemies.
  12. If I am solo farming BM I can fill up on recipes and salvage in 30 minutes or less easy. I have been on TF's and teams for 2-3 hours and not even come close to filling up my recipes or salvage. This seems to be the norm for me even on good, fast moving teams. I believe the xp is much better on a team though because of the team xp modifier. It is 2.5*(reguler xp) per kill split between 8 people on an eight man team. I don't believe there are any salvage/recipe drop modifiers that increase drops when teamed.
  13. I will certainly not say please or thank you for a speed boost. I will not expect any pleases or thanks in return for passing them out either. Under normal circumstances I would not ask for a speed boost because I know that can be annoying and most of the time I am fine without one. The only time I get annoyed at the non-speed boosting kin is when we are in a prolonged fight and my endurance has been bottomed out for the past 2 minutes with no speed boost in sight - then I will think to myself "Man this kin sux! I wish the lead would boot him and get someone useful on the team.".

    Poll for You

I like farm wit elec/fire blaster is goode quik burn POW kittens.
  15. I would like to see the gun drone with an on/off switch. It seems to mess up what seems to be the primary benefit of devices from the solo perspective(imo). My routine usually goes like this.
    1. Find mob.
    2. Smoke grenade mob
    3. Plant explosive at the mobs feet.
    4. Launch AOE attack from primary.
    5. Mob dies.

With gun drone it ends up more like.
    1. Find mob.
    2. Gun drone shoots mob while you are planting explosive at mobs feet.
    3. Mob shoots you before explosive is placed.
    4. Now you are sad.

    Nuke My Survey!

Nukes for me have a low priority. I take them if I can find the room in my build and generally only use them when things get hectic. Double spawns or ambushes may occasionally call for a nuke.

    Farm Builds.

I like to farm with my Elec/Fire blaster. Go ahead and laugh you Elec/ haters. I know it's not fire/fire but the large radius of the electric primary helps out on the BM map where the spawn is sometimes spread out. I also really like having the ability to jump into the center of the mob and unleashing my AOE's without having to line up any stinking cones. It only takes 3 quick recharging AOE's to kill all the minions. Sparky and I can then finish off the lt's very quickly.
  18. It would be cool if I could use my grav troller to lift an enemy immediately followed by a propel and have the propel hit the target at the peak of the lift power. Then the enemy would be knocked through the air and suffer extra damage. Of course this would require the propel animation to be shortened.
  19. My Grav/Rad troller's Singularity was having difficulty keeping bosses held and was not able to solo one until recently. I picked up 2 hamios, a mez/accuracy and a mez/damage. After slotting those my Singy was able to solo an even con death mage and then an even con war hulk. It's a somewhat slow process but he can keep them held about 60% of the time and can can "arrest" them slowly but surely. Note that no aid in any form was given to Singy and no debuffs were applied to his opponents. This experience made me wonder what other pets can do. So please feel free to comment on the following or any other pet related goodness.
    1. What's the toughest opponent your pet has soloed?
    2. What the largest spawn your pet has soloed?
    3. What pet would kick booty in a pet vs pet Arena match? I'm sure someone has tested this!
    4. Who is your favorite pet?
    5. If you could pair any one pet with any one build what would it be?
  20. I love my fire/earth. I tend to have a number of alts that I play depending on my mode. On some rare occasions I will find a build that is so much fun that I put everyone else on the shelf and run that one build up to 50. Fire/earth is one of those builds for me. I went for a combo of defense and recharge. Didn't have the funds to go perma but he has a good amount of global recharge. Would not recommend getting both auras though. Hot feet is all you need. The endurance drain on that is more than enough to handle. So enjoy! It will become a lot more fun as you pick up your melee powers and pets.
  21. It seems to me that the major advantage of Illusion is the phantom army for that aggro mitigation and extra damage(obviously). The major disadvantage for controllers is the lack of an always up AOE containment(and no the long recharge hold doesn't count) so your lvl 41+ AOE damage attacks only do half damage. Since Dominators care nothing about containment they get all the extra damage at no cost. If this set is ported over as is, I'm completely cool with that as I would play one with a quickness, but it may indeed be overpowered.
  22. It's pretty easy to do if you use a game pad. I like to do it against bosses who use long animating powers. Like a war hulk using flame thrower - I can jump past him, launch attack and land out of melee range before he can smack me in the grill.
  23. After reading so many posts on these forums about AV soloing, I starting suffering from a severe case of AV envy. So after we got our freespec I redid my grav/rad troller with emphasis on rech/def/endurance. I am still not finished with the build as I ran out of money prior to getting the numina's/miracle recovery recipe and the chance for recovery perf shifter proc. Even with AM up and only 30 seconds from being permanent I still had some serious endurance issues. If I hadn't of taken hibernate I would not have been able to finish her. The endurance issue almost made me want to get propel again because for as bad of a long animating turd it is, the damage to endurance ratio is really pretty good. So anyway, I killed lvl 50 Battle Maiden and she was actually pretty easy. I didn't time it but I would say it probably took 10-12 minutes(I realize this is not very fast). She stayed at range the whole time due to being immobilized and seemed to have a very small number of ranged attacks. This allowed me to kill her at range in relative safety even though I am not soft capped. So in conclusion - thanks for all the yummy forum info all you game savvy people have posted, and if you never have soloed an AV and wish to try - I would recommend Battle Maiden for you ranged trollers.

    Very true

Since resistance based builds suffer from -def also, and are more likely to be hit by said -def power in the first place, and have no -def resistance, I would say the advantage is still with defense over resistance.
