Elec/Elec Blast

So I have decided to rebuild my first char, an elec/elec blaster, I first made this char back in issue 2 played him on and off through like I10 respec him countless times and eventually deleting him. After coming back for not playing for over a year now I have decided I want to reroll him on the new server I have moved to. Below is a rough, real rough layout, for some choices I have made with no slots placed or enhance. Please fell free to tweak this build however you see fit. I was going for softcap smash/lethal def cause I hate dieing really fast.

I'm also unsure as what I should pick for secondary, elec is ok but i also might be willing to do others in order probably something like mental, energy, idk looking for some opnions towards good synergy and such.

I recently leveled an elec/elec blaster, Electroblast, up to 50. I went with Elec as the third, Epic, powerset as well. it's one of my favorite toons. I'd recommend at least trying it.

ok, well ty.

Any other input as towards the build?

Personaly I like Charged Bolts, It's fast decent damage that can be fired while held. You could always take it instead of Lightning Field.

I have an elect/elect concept blaster, up to 25 now, and haven't really looked at what sets to work toward. I'll probably work in almost (if not every) power in the primary and secondary. Took Hover/Fly, and Stam of course, and not really looking at any other pools.

I'd be interested in hearing which sets others have taken and why. SC already completely drains minions, and I was wondering the viability of a end-draining tactic on EBs and AVs while on a team.

Elec/Fire was my first 50. He's also one of my favorites. That being said, if you are trying for a sapper I think elec/elec if the only way you can reliably keep the bosses drained. Otherwise Elec/Fire is great fun due to the 4 sweet AOE's(and no cones). 3 of them being 15ft or more in radius. Not to mention hot feet which rocks. The nice thing about elec/elec besides the sapping is the 2 stacking holds for those nasty bosses. Of course you can get your second hold with epic powers and any other secondary. I was thinking that mental manipulation might also allow you to sap but I can't remember how long the -recovery lasts on MM and red tomax's domain just exipered(oh noos!) so i can't get the data at the moment. Can't think of how MM would really synergize other than that. Ice secondary also has a hold and some survivability along with some blappiness if blapping is what you are going for. You will likey need some melee attacks to get s/l bonuses anyway. Definately not devices cause you don't have enough single target attacks in your primary as it is. I also agree with southern cross about picking up charged bolts.

Another vote for Charged Bolts, especially if soloing. Being able to blast while mezzed is a great asset solo. On a team, likely someone would pull aggro and let you recover, but when solo, it's hard to raise the difficulty when you have fewer options to blast your way out of a mezzy situation.

Yeah, always take the first two attacks when you're a blaster these days. Defiance 2.0 allows us to fire them no matter what kind of mezzed we are.

I can't get my head around the build w/o it being in Mids. But I'd definitely put Stamina right at 20. You will get exemplared down, playing Positron TF or whatever, and with it at 24 you'll be bogged down.

Hasten at 49 strikes me as odd. Isn't this a leveling build? I think you'd miss Hasten all the way to 49 more than you'd miss shifting some things back early on. I don't recall, but I think my 22 electric^2 [currently stalled, being a marketer] isn't the fastest thing. I'm not sure if I do run Hasten with him.

I wouldn't get the Super Jump pool unless I wanted Acrobatics. I always get Hasten and Superspeed.

Voltac Sentinal is about usless in my opinoin. It's cool to have the electric ball follow you around and zap stuff, but it's not a great power. You would do better with another power in it's place....like Acrobatics or whatever the very first Electric Blast power is.

Shocking Grasp is OK, but not that great. I have it on mine, but it's not one of the goto powers.

I'd skip Lightning Field. It's just an aggro magnet. I didn't realize it was available in the secondary, but it's been awhile since I chose powers for that guy. I skipped it on my elec/elec scrapper for that reason.

I did a secondary build with a more blapper style that included the fighting pool, but on my main blaster build I don't have those.

I like sparky! (Voltaic Sentinel) It goes all nuts with the zap, zap (-Recovery and -End on the target). Currently have it slotted with a full set of Blood Mandate.

I have an Elec/Nrg that I like and she is getting there, slowly, with the IOs to help boost her up a bit. For draining mobs->Aim, Power Boost, Ball Lightning, and Short Circuit. Then hit the bosses with the telsa cage and finish 'em off.

The links to his site in the Titan network still work. I'd try that.

Wait a minute: here's the url I use:

You skipped a lot of attacks on a primary that's low on attacks in favor of defense. Dead enemies don't hit back and that's the ultimate mitigation. Defense and Damage aren't mutually exclusive, you can do respectable damage and have decent defenses too.

Fit it in CJ (since you're also getting immob protection there.)

Grab Tesla Cage earlier. Much earlier.

Stealth - up to you, but there are other ways to get it now. (You can put it off and do a patrol in Bloody Bay at 15-25 for Hyper Stealth, 30 min, up to 3x, then in Siren's Call for Combat Invis - which, unlike the invis power pool, you can attack from. Potentially you can get an iO, but I wouldn't hold my breath there.)

If you're going force mastery, remember you can't attack from PFF. Also, if you get it earlier, Force of Nature opens at 47.

Lightning Field uses almost as much end as Superspeed and Superjump combined.

terrible

its very shiny tho

perma jump is ---> /up 1

Personally I'm not that big a fan of Tesla Cage, the activation seems like it's too long. On an lt I'd rather just kill it faster and on anything higher you'd most likely need to stack holds anyways for it to stick.

I have an elec/elec/elec that I basically go full out damage with (for pve obviously). Incredibly squishy but oh so fun.

Posted

Elec/Elec should be about the end drain as much as damage to get the most out of it. I would be stacking Short Circuit with Powersink then relying on the Field to keep enemies end rec from getting back up. That'll be the basis and every thing else would come from other needs in the process. I would only use the Field on a set amount of targets+. On a single target the enemies end rec can be held back with the Fence. I then can play other blasters for other reasons and have them gain survivability some other way.

I'm with many of the posters. Embrace Blasterdom (Def is for wimps ) and
grab your attacks instead of the fighting line.

Short Circuit is a must imho - slot as a damage attack early, then re-slot as
damage/drain once you get Power Sink.

While I said "Embrace Blasterdom" earlier, I don't mean "die a lot". I disagree
with the poster who dislikes Tesla Cage - I use it each and every fight and
combined with the other holds, you can fully lock down a boss OR keep a couple
Miniions/Lts completely out of the fight until you want to deal with them.

I'm a fan of Electric for the epic power as well - E3 builds can be very effective.

PS> I'm mixed on Sparky - typically he only gets a few shots in before the
dust settles anyway, so I find him more situational... Possibly useful, but
hardly required.

PPS> I don't recommend Lightning Field at all, unless you are deliberately
going for a Blapper build (something that E3 *can* do quite well actually)
at which point I'd have a higher expectation that you know what you're
doing (it's quite a bit more challenging to play it that way).
