On topic, I've farmed at least to some extent with a Fire Control/Kinetics Controller, Mind Control/Thorny Assault Dominator, Invulnerability/Super Strength Tanker, Energy Melee/Invulnerability Brute, Archery/Mental Manipulation Blaster, and Electrical Melee/Shield Defense Scrapper. Of those, the Fire/Kin had the most trouble, but I hate Kinetics so I might have been biased in mindset while playing.
Sometimes I farm on my Fire/Kin, sometimes with my Warshade, but most often with my BS/SD Scrapper. Though I am not really a farmer, I prefer to play other parts of the game instead of the same mission over and over.
Badging in a PvP zone?
If you are treasure hunting on a battlefield wearing an enemy uniform, there is a high probability that you will be attacked.

a cold/elec defender is awesome at farming so is a ice/thermal controller just build for +run speed and -debt protection and you'll do fine, i'd say faster then a fire/kin.

Everyone knows that fire/kins are the best farmers out there, anything else is inferior. Sure you COULD build other ATs to farm, but you also COULD kill using a slingshot to kill a man over a tommygun.
