Illusion for dominators
A perma PA permadom with the /psi secondary could be so tough that it would be almost broken, for most in-game situations.
I say why not. I'd love to have one. Maybe change the recharges of the powers a bit and what not (by that I mean make them a little longer to make sure it isn’t to OP). I mean they did give fire melee to scrappers eventually, and I thought they said early on that they would never do something like that.

they would have to double the recharge time for PA, the same way they had to for the MM Dark Servant to make it fair, with the perma dom thing n' all. Perma un-hittable pets.....*drools*

Sure would love it. As for it being OP'd on a perma dom have people seen what perma PA /rad trollers can do?
It's the one control set that doesn't fall to pieces when the PToD show up and would put dominators into the ring with the "big" players when it comes to difficult content.
Also you need a heck of a lot more than perma dom to have perma PA. You need more than perma-hasten to have perma PA.
I also don't recall them saying no to the idea of Illusion going redside. I recall them saying it would probably make more sense to be revamped into a MM primary, but they say a lot of things that don't happen or make sense for that matter. They may have said it though.
I absolutely can't wait for doms to get illusion. I've already got a secondary, concept, name, and costume picked out. As far as being overpowered, I wouldn't really think so. Given that there are already some primaries that are capable of holding AVs through the triangles with enough recharge, I hardly think that illusion being able to tank those AVs with PA would be any worse. It would be better against PToD EBs on SOs than other primaries, of course, but frankly that's more of a long-overdue fix than a problem.
Illusion/energy will be so sweet..... I totally can't wait.

I believe that the idea of illusion for masterminds came from an old comment where it was used as an example of something that would need to be heavily reworked if it was ported at all, instead of something that can be ported with minor tweaks like giving Masterminds /Storm. I don't think they ever said there were actual plans to do so.

The major disadvantage for controllers is the lack of an always up AOE containment(and no the long recharge hold doesn't count) so your lvl 41+ AOE damage attacks only do half damage. Since Dominators care nothing about containment they get all the extra damage at no cost. If this set is ported over as is, I'm completely cool with that as I would play one with a quickness, but it may indeed be overpowered.

Trollers: like you say it has no readily available aoe containment. In a troller world dominated by contained damage this is a pretty major drawback. And yet Ill controllers get by just fine.
PA under high recharge is pretty amazing and is a large part of the draw to such combos as ill/rad and ill/kin. However, PA does not benefit from external buffing so the only way to improve them is via enemy debuffing. Controllers with res debuffing make PA very impressive because of the heal back mechanic of their attacks. Basically once you fully damage slot PA it has a 35% heal back ratio that you can only improve through resistance debuffing. Something like an ill/cold can make the heal back as small as 17% of the damage they put out. Amazing stuff really.
Dominators: won't have many powers that are boosted by the +mag+duration of domination. In fact they'll have 1 less than sets like earth and fire. This could be seen as a setback, but we know Castle reworked doms specifically to rely less on domination than before. I'm of the mind set that illusion is not a weak control set, but rather a weak "lock down" set. Complete lockdown is irrelevant to doms.
Regarding PA and dominators: it is of little doubt that it would be a very strong combo. While active it would allow a dominator to focus almost entirely on damage output. Pretty big advantage. That said, it is significantly more difficult for a dom to reach perma PA than it is for a troller. Not impossible, but much more difficult. Additionally doms have no way of making PA more effective while they are out like trollers do, with the exception of a single target debuff in one patron choice.
I think it goes without saying that anyone who truly believes illusion would be overpowered on a dominator is by default saying it is even moreso on a controller as they can leverage the strengths of the set better than doms.
Conversely, people with concerns that it would be too weak due to little benefit gained through domination need to look up the status on spec terror.
