I think you're thinking of a different person, because 1) most of the talking I do in zone is combating misconceptions about PvP mechanics and 2) I don't have a single character with TP Foe and my Grav/TA isn't even slotted. That being said, people who complain about droning amuse me. It's a perfectly legitimate "get out of my face" tactic and there are plenty of ways to counter it - oranges, a Kin, running a set with TP protection, or just not getting within TP Foe range in the first place.

I don't think it's a reasonable expectation that everyone's going to have perfect behavior all the time. There's always going to be a few people that are heckling or what have you - there's friendly banter, then there's trash talk, and then you just *shrug* and move on. I don't take issue with trash talking because I don't need to. I just beat 'em in game, problem solved. You can't compare online competition to offline competition like that, since people aren't anonymous offline. I'm not saying anonymity makes it right, just that it makes it more likely to occur. I simply ignore it (and I'll admit it's even amusing sometimes), though I realize not everyone has the ability to do that. What everyone seems to forget, though, is that it's usually a very small minority of people who are actually engaging in said trash-talking and it's very easy to forget about a small minority.

There are tons of misconceptions about PvP and the PvP community, and they've been around for as long as there's been PvP. It's the classic "I don't understand x, therefore y must be true" scenario. I've been on both sides of the PvE/PvP fence.

Every player character does begin with the same opportunity and potential, but that ends as soon as you get past power selection at character creation. That some builds are better for PvP than others is not a problem with the PvP system in and of itself as it is a natural side effect of a game having a variety of powers. You can apply the same argument to soloing AVs or GMs - you don't see someone building an AR/Dev to solo AVs but you see people with Ill/Rads or something similar with high DPS and high survivability, because that's what the situation calls for. You don't see Sonic Blasters farming because Sonic isn't a good set for mass AoE damage. That's how it works in PvP too. Characters need to accomplish specific goals - in the case of damage dealers, deal as much damage as possible as quickly as possible - and there are some sets that are, simply because of how they're designed, better for that task. The only way you would ever be able to "fix" that (assuming it's even a problem in the first place, which it really isn't) would be to make every powerset and power roughly the same, and I'm sure you can imagine how well that would go over.
  4. I logged in on Saturday night for the first time in a week only to have the 'net go down on me about fifteen minutes later. One of those days, I guess.

No **** melee isn't competitive against range. That's how it's always worked in this game. The devs generally respond to this by nerfing the melee sets that are actually decent, for some unknown reason. If you're at least doing something more than facerolling on your keyboard and you bring insps and play it smart you should at least take the tie.

    Dark/ doms

Dark Blast, Gloom, Life Drain, and Gather Shadows (basically PB with +dmg) on a Dom will be nasty.

Wait, so you're part of the reason PvP IOs are rare? Nice work there, slim.

Balance has been turned on its head multiple times to the point I'm not sure anyone sees the big picture, power creeps up in spikes and that keeps an hardcore fanbase playing, for the sake of getting that next elite item that will obliterate everything and so on.

If anyone wants to look it up (mostly because I wouldn't blame you if you think I'm making this up), it's called Helbreath. Be warned, the community is very abrasive.
And here I thought you were talking about CoH.

There aren't any ******* rocket boots in Battlefield yo
  11. Need to start all over, Banes don't have any in-set KB protection so you're about 40 points short.

Are you ******* kidding me, sharks have always been a 100% crit from hide.

But no alt is meant to take on a 5-8 man team solo so yea guess it was called for.
No one's complaining that a primary was nerfed, they're complaining that an entire powerset was nerfed when only a single power needed fixing. It's like taking your car to the shop and having the mechanic say "oh your oil needed to be changed but we replaced your entire engine." Reading comprehension, yo.

    This game had PvP devs?

Yeah, I guess we can conveniently overlook the fact that this game was going have to PvP from the beginning. CoH PvP was, for all intents and purposes, doing pretty damn well until someone got a bad bag of shrooms and decided it needed "fixing."

Not sure if it is unresisted but it does apply its knockback twice within a small enough window for it to stack with itself so it punches through 45+ points of KB protection when slotted.
