where are we now.

I pvp'd or the first time in ages. It was actually against someone that was kinda nice and helpfull. Even though at times he sat by my spawn point and killed to fat to secure a win.
But that i get over easily.

Here is the question. Its still FOTM or its still more money more wins. There is skill involved but it is very little. No matter how much the most frequent pvp'ers want to say its not. A FOTM vs. any other toon is still win. Whcih is ok. But a pvp built toon vs a non pvp bult toon is still a win.

Now here is my question?!?!?!?!?

Should a toon that is uber such as a fire fire fire tank (fire primary, fire secondary, fire epic) be uttterly uselless.?

Sriously if that fire tank got every accolaide and every io in the game 5 purples, 4 or 5 pvp ios and all great slots in everything else. Should that tank regardless of ability stand no chane?

I mean if a very very experienced pvper was on that same toon. Every accoaldie and every purple and pvp ios in the game needed to pimp a toon. Should that toon even stand a chance? Cause right now there stand no chane regardless of the influ they put in. SO if you spend 30 billion yes 30,000,000,000 (yes 10 zeros) that toon stands no chance.

so its only fotm vs fotm and that is all.

so why even have pvp why not turn pvp into invite to pvp only. But, !!!!! in any zone. why turn rv, wb, bb, into pvp zones where a fotm can greif till no end. whilest a nice player with a new toon with 30 billion on cannot.

This is just a hypothetical. I wonder what the devs think.

The saddest thing of this post is that no dev will read it and no devs care about pvp

example: a fire fire fire tank vs. a earth fire dom, or a sonic dark coor. its a no chance fight.

why even allow this to happen. Its nothign but greif grief grief. how is this fun for people that are thinking of paying you money but have not yet?

where is the fun in this.

And yes I had a major FOTM on more than one occasion over the last 6 years. SO I understand the win side. But wow the butcher weak loose side is "this game is doen bai"

No **** melee isn't competitive against range. That's how it's always worked in this game. The devs generally respond to this by nerfing the melee sets that are actually decent, for some unknown reason. If you're at least doing something more than facerolling on your keyboard and you bring insps and play it smart you should at least take the tie.

There's a ton of builds that can be good and a ton more builds that can always tie if they can't win, so it's hardly "FotM" as much as not choosing the most absolutely dreadful combinations known to the game. Look at blasters, for example - Heater is doing well on both a Rad/Fire blaster and a Dark/Elec blaster (neither of which are FotM). Or corrupters - OneAboveAll, or whatever his ingame name is, does well enough on a Rad/Dark and an Arch/Rad. Maybe you need to be FotM to reach your absolute full potential, but a lot of builds can do well enough that they don't want to quit playing.

The problem you are running into is a combination of a few things.

First you think any build should be able to compete with any other build. That simply isn't going to be the case the same way some builds are great for farming while others aren't the same way some builds are good at solo'ing AV's and GM's while others are terrible for it.

You can invest 30 billion into an AR/Dev and still won't be competitive when it comes to GM solo'ing outside of possibly getting lore pets to do it for you.

Second, you aren't playing right. If you build your tank well the toons you listed shouldn't be killing you, at worst you're looking at a draw. You'll have to accept the fact that sometimes if you try to fight a kiting ranged toon they will put out enough damage unless you find some way to put enough pressure on them. In this case? Keeping them perma webnaded helps a lot. It allows you to have more control over the pace of the fight.

And lastly, your class expectations are off. You picked a high survivability low damage melee to go against a high damage ranged and medium damage / debuff ranged. PvP is as its always been in MMO's based off of teams, builds working together, complementing each others weaknesses and short comings. If you want to 1 v 1 someone get an identical build and spend the same amount on it as the other person and you might have a match on your hand to see either a. who is the better player, or b. who has better luck with the RNG / damage procs.

While your character is looking at more draws in a 1 v 1, in a 2 v2 suddenly it becomes more useful, (though no optimal) as you can keep both other people taunted, webbed and add some damage to the equation.

err yeah taunt is -range - and recharges fast enough to stack..but anyhow

there are and will always be fotms. People refused to fight this or that because it was a min/max insta win feel good about you toon..or fotm lol.

There will always be a few that take a chance on builds and make them work but once they start winning that too becomes fotm.

Hate to say, but it's very true.

It doesn't matter if the melee player could kill the ranged player, if the ranged player starts running or kiting (the kind of "kite for 10 seconds hit once"), it'll end in a tie. There's really nothing you can do about it. In fact, a melee player can't even kill another melee player if they start running or kiting like that.

Your best chance is Polar lights or a Musc +dmg Pyronic to burst them at low hp.

As for a fire/fire/fire tank? I could probably make it work, if I got enough +hp, 45% heal vigor with rebirth, and decent rech + ranged attacks. Against a Dark/Poison cor though? There's a possibility you could be somewhat of a maybe threat if you took Ageless +debuff res and there was no inspirations. Of course that's my hopeful thinking.

Fire/SS/Fire would always be better though. +30% tohit and a ranged attack with -fly.

Your build must suck if you die on a tank.
