Well, level 40 Miracle unique recipes are back up over 100 (last 5 anywhere from 100 to 140 at the moment), but it seems as though purple prices have crashed. One of my Soulbound Allegiance pieces here would barely scrape up 20 mil, and the Hecatomb proc is closer to 150 million.
On the other hand I've been doing alignment merit rolls (basically, running my usual TFs and SFs and then converting a merit before I head to bed each day) and while I had a couple really crappy sets of rolls, I've been in the 40-45 range and it's been turning out swimmingly. Selling the pieces I don't use (Impervium Armors, LotGs, etc.) usually means I gain back the 20 mil I spend, and I can make up those 50 merits in about two TF's worth of time, so I've been doing pretty well. Noticed the Impervium Armor resistance IO (not the unique) sitting at around 80 mil crafted, so I've paid for my next 4 merit conversions just by selling the one I got. -
On the plus side, the ability to have multiple secondary effects to choose from means you can slot multiple types of procs and they'll still have a chance to fire even if you're not using that particular ammo type (so load up on slow and def debuff procs and actually deal decent damage).

Quote:Yeah, because you're the person everyone should listen to regarding this game. (lol)Hera: I have to disagree with you categorically, on every single point. Kinetic Melee has been judged by me to be frigging awesome for tanks.
It's because the mag from the knockdown proc will stack with the mag from the built-in knockdown, turning it into knockback. Same thing happens if you slot, say, the Ragnarok proc into something like Freezing Rain or Fissure. -
Think I've dug up a few from late 2004. It's fun to see completely odd thread titles suddenly pop up (like "X sucks" or "Nerf Y" when it's obviously not true) and watch the first few reactions before people realize it's a necro.

Quote:Question: do you actively avoid raids and other "high-traffic" things like zone events? Not wanting to be confrontational, just curious. There are "high-traffic" areas in almost every MMO, and CoH is not the only one where lots of people in one area can cause a decrease in performance, especially if those characters have lots of graphical effects. I take a performance hit when I use the market, just like most other players, but I deal with it because I know I'm only going to be there long enough to buy/sell and then I'll be on my way. If power suppression was enabled I'd end up having to retoggle every time I went by the market, even if I only stopped to check if my bid had filled on the way to my mission. Remembering to turn toggles back on isn't exactly a minor annoyance, and forgetting your toggles are off will get your character killed, while a lower framerate in a non-combat area will not. While yes, I used someone intentionally causing grief as my primary example, remember it didn't START that way. He simply came in and happened to be in a spot that caused me lag because he was running two toggles (Hurricane and Steamy Mists). This, combined with everyone else and their toggles (Sonic, FF, etc, etc) can cause issues. It's not a matter of "oh, this one guy once used his powers in a negative way", or even "oh, ONE person is using Steamy Mists, shut down Madagascar!", so much as "these ten people using their powers add up to be a headache of lag" when without those it's smooth as every other moment in the game (not counting other high traffic areas such as Raids, etc).
Quote:I may not sympathize with your view point very much (I'm willing to make the sacrifice, have tried work-arounds, etc, etc), but at least I understand both sides of the topic enough to know that a compromise is the most reasonable choice. There are very good reasons for keeping Power Suppression out of the WW and BM, and while I feel it's worth the loss, I can understand not everyone feels that way. A "Studio B" for the Markets would do wonders, in my opinion.
Right now, there are some people that get annoyed by the status quo, basically. That's understandable, and I can sympathize with them. The question is whether more people would be annoyed with slow movement speeds and having to retoggle than people are currently annoyed by a certain few powers running. My gut tells me no, and I've seen very few people even in-game in favor of power suppression, even those who routinely detoggle before they go into a market. The simple solution here is the "Studio B" solution, because it results in a grand total of no one getting screwed, but I have this feeling that the devs would probably just slap up a suppression field around the whole market instead, which would result in someone getting screwed. Obviously, no one getting screwed is preferable to someone getting screwed. -
Meh, I'd PM the powers-that-be and tell them that if they are considering adding suppression fields to the markets, to at least consider all viewpoints and add them in a separate location, or only make certain market areas suppression-enabled. Fact is, not having power suppression at the markets only affects some people, while having it enabled affects everyone who uses the markets. If it's added, it is affecting everyone for the "enjoyment" of the few. Having the option to use a power-suppressed market area is honestly the only win-win situation here.
Praetorian markets are probably an experiment, though it's not all that great of one because the characters using those markets have at most 20 levels' worth of powers (plus vet/temp/whatever). They likely won't have Field Crafter, so it doesn't affect them, but honestly, the amount of sound arguments for adding suppression are far fewer than keeping it away.
EDIT: Seems as though most of the "offenders" people are pointing out are other players who purposely activate lots of graphics-intensive powers inside the auction house (i.e. Storm, MM, whatever) or drive-by buff (Therm, Sonic, Cold, FF, whatever). I'm not sure how having all the Dark Armor toggles running causes much graphics lag even on higher settings, because it's so localized, and running one power like Steamy Mist is hardly an issue. Let's not get carried away here, your issue is with people who are intentionally being stupid rather than being able to use powers in the market area. Petition these people and be done with it, seriously. -
Nin, SR, and lolDark also have in-set perception so combined with Tactics + IO you can get pretty close to the percep cap (really only an issue if you're hunting other Stalkers since no other AT can get stealth even close to your percep cap). One could also take the Weapon or Body Mastery APPs and pick up Targeting Drone/FA if they didn't have an in-set percep power, but the Stalker PPPs are so much better than the APPs for the Stalker playstyle it's not even funny.
Dark and Elec are the only trashy Stalker secondaries, EA is passable if you build it really well, SR is good-ish, Nin is nice, Regin is good (but lacks anything except heals and regen to get back into hide), and WP is FotM for a reason. -
Neither is Corr LR apparently...

You would need perma-DP on the Invuln to cap HP, which requires something like 60% global rech before DR (or like 110+% after DR). You'd be giving up way too much to try and get there, though Invuln will probably serve you better than WP unless you lolfiteklub and take Aid Self.

Quote:Oddly enough, duping IOs means you'll probably find someone on your team who has the IO you need and can copy it to test multiple times for multiple people to use, thus making a really crazy expensive build easy to obtain, yet you think this is a bad thing, gg.Not in test where Duping is legal. And yeah you say kitted out toons whatever not everyone farms MY main PVP toon is still several enhancements away from incomplete and may be for some time but I make up for the lack with my skill
When you go up against someone running the same powersets as you (I am guessing you play a Regen Scrapper based on your posts and general attitude toward PvP) and with the same relative skill level, it's the person whose build is better that will win. Likewise if you go up against someone running the same powersets and the same build, it's the person who's more skilled that will win. Your argument is simply your way of saying that build is everything. There are two reasons why the "high-end" ladders have always been, and always will be, held on test:
1. People from any server can participate, even when there aren't free transfers
2. People can build their characters any way they like without having to spend billions upon billions of inf or hours upon hours farming for the stuff they want
In short, the ladders are held on test because it's a convenient way to eliminate the "haves and have-nots" problem that's been around since the introduction of IOs (and exacerbated by the addition of purples and then PvP IOs). It means you don't have to worry about whether you'll be able to afford to build your character, because everyone has exactly the same opportunity to obtain stuff. -
Level 50 LotG +rech recipes were right around 110 mil when I looked last night, and level 40 Miracle +recov recipes were sitting at about 85. Both of those are lower than I remember them being before the merger, so that's a win-win I guess.

Quote:Welcome to CoH, where the people who play and build smart are routinely screwed for the "benefit" of the rest of the players.I'm bothered by the changes for a couple reasons. I'm not interested in /Fire, so I really don't care about the buff there. Lower fury degradation doesn't really help me much because I've never been dumb enough to play a brute primary with slow animations or long recharge times.
However, making maintaining high levels harder does affect me, because my Brutes are always built with as many fast animating, fast recharge attacks as possible so I am always hovering near max fury. Making that harder to maintain affects me, whereas making it easier to maintain low levels is really irrelevant for me.
I guess it's a boost for people who were playing Axe or Mace or Stone... But it feels like punishing those who were actually building their characters to properly make use of the AT's strengths :/ -
I believe you are thinking of zone PvP, and
I believe you are thinking of fiteklubbers. -
When I noticed the power suppression rooms during beta, the first thing I thought to myself was "ugh" and I stayed away the rest of my testing. Did the same thing in AE's Studio B - it's not because retoggling is annoying or takes a while or that I sometimes forget to do it (all three of these are true, however), but rather because I play this game because of the movement speed and being forced to move at base run speed is quite possibly the most annoying thing in the game.
Meanwhile, I'll keep telling those that complain about people who leave their toggles on/hate drive-by buffers/whatever the same thing I've always said - go to any other market than Talos or Cap and your problems will more or less disappear. Don't force annoyance on everyone because of the annoyance of a few.
EDIT: Actually, come to think of it, a good compromise would be to add a suppression-enabled room within the existing markets (i.e. click one of the back doors of Wentworth's, or click the sewer cover next to a BM truck), so those who want to shop effects-free can do so, which is exactly what they have in AE buildings. -

The only thing that's OP about Therm is that you can't simply bring a tray of greens and still win against one. Since inspiration management and finding a good balance between aggressive and defensive are skills that most people still playing this game don't have, people cry about Therms being too good, but it's amazing how a Therm will QQ if you bring the right inspires and play to their weaknesses.

Fire/Storm Corrs do pretty nasty stuff - mine's only 36 or something and not well-slotted and she can still rip through mobs.
-
All of the patron holds, for every villain AT, suck major *** compared to the ones in ancillary pools (many ancillary ranged holds are 16-second timers, compared to 32-second timers for PPP holds).
If I wanted to pick up an APP set on a Corruptor I'd probably go Psi because Dominate is good and TK and World of Confusion are hax. -
Hm, just realized that Defenders get Corruptor epics if they switch to redside and run a patron arc, so technically you could build an Emp with PB instead of PBU (higher heal/buff mods + same rech time on PB as Controller version). Probably not worth leveling a new character specifically for that, but I'd consider it on my Emp/Dark if I had GR...
-
Unless a few of the people chasing you have perception and keep you perma-suppressed, that is.
-
Freedom is the only server you'll find reliable PvP on. Virtue sometimes, but even that is hit-or-miss.
-
Lots of procs and Focused Accuracy from Mace Mastery (switch to villain, run patron arc, switch back), or Leadership + Hibernate (which again requires a side switch).

Quote:Actually if you'd look back most of the complaints were about Energy Melee going from a good single-target set to a good-at-nothing set, and years later that still hasn't been rectified.I still laugh at the Doomsayers when ET got "nerfed."
Doomsayer: "NOTZ MAH PRESHUS DEE PEE ES!"
No matter which way you slice it, having most of your damage locked up in 3-second-ish animations doesn't make a set interesting, especially with ET's horrid animation.
